The synopsis for A Quiet Place: Day 1 is short but sweet: “Experience the day the world went quiet.” The official trailer reveals the day of the attack, showing scenes of the aliens arriving from space and the beginning of humans starting to understand the creatures are attracted to noise.
The prequel focuses on new characters played by Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou.
Unlike A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part 2, John Krasinski isn’t in the director’s chair and didn’t write the screenplay. Instead, Michael Sarnoski takes over as writer and director. However, the plot is based on Krasinski and Sarnoski’s original idea and is part of Krasinski’s plan to expand the A Quiet Place universe.
Krasinski, Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller serve as producers. Executive producers include Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock.

John Krasinski unveiled the first-ever look at “A Quiet Place: Day One” at CinemaCon, the annual movie theater trade show in Las Vegas.
“One of my great joys has been creating and expanding the ‘Quiet Place’ universe, and I couldn’t be more excited for this next installment,” Krasinki told the audience at Caesars Palace during Paramount’s presentation.
Story details for “Day One,” led by Lupita Nyong’o, have been kept mostly under wraps, but it comes from an original idea from Krasinksi, who directed and co-starred in the first two “A Quiet Place” movies, starring Emily Blunt. The prequel diverges from the Abbott family and explains the origins of the post-apocalyptic world, where people must live in silence in order to hide from creatures that hunt for prey using sound.

Not content to show off its 2023 slate, Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation offered a few sneak peeks at next year’s releases. John Krasinski took to the stage to offer the first look at the next “Quiet Place” movie.
Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (who helmed Nicolas Cage’s “Pig”), the New York-set prequel will star Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou and Denis O’Hare. The producers include Krasinski, Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock will executive produce.
The footage audiences saw a bustling New York City where Nyong’o is half-asleep on a bus while petting her cat. She steps to the back of the bus only to realize that the world has almost instantly plunged into hell, with ravaged buildings and catastrophic explosions. The rest is a quick montage of Nyong’o trying to survive as the aliens essentially destroy the world.

I’ve put up a lot on Let Me In already, but now that some good notes are coming back from Toronto, I have six more clips to share. Speaking of Toronto, I confusingly heard someone say it was, “too true to the original,” whatever that might mean. I suppose it could indicate the lack of necessity in creating something that was too close to the material it’s working from, but it struck me as odd.
At any rate, I’ve be hearing good press from those who have managed to take it in, and if you’ve seen the original, this is surely something that is on the top of the list of things to look forward to.
I’ve put the clips together into a playlist, along with the trailer and an earlier clip I had, so take them in and enjoy. And, let me know what you think.
