Showtime series Homeland swept the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards netting popular awards for Damien Lewis (Best Actor), Claire Danes (Best Actress), and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Best Drama Series.
The Primetime wins helped Homeland secure its place as the Emmy's surprise hit of 2012. Lewis beat out Emmy favourites Jon Hamm and Bryan Cranston, who himself won the award twice for his role as Walter White in AMC.s Breaking Bad.
HBO.s Game Change tied with Homeland with four awards won, including Jay Roach.s Best Director for a Miniseries and Outstanding Miniseries. Combined with the Creative Arts Emmy wins, Homeland won a collective six awards this Emmy season.

A while ago I had a discussion with Mark Adler while I was researching the history of Kayo Hatta's Picture Bride, a beautiful emotional film about the titular institution which involved the shipping of hundreds of girls to Hawaii, where they had to live in unhappy matrimony. The picture was originally scored by Cliff Eidelman whose music was released by Varése Sarabande, but the movie eventually had music by Mark. It took a while, but he managed to put all his thoughts into this recollection and now with his kind permission, I'll post the full story, picking up from the moment he was selected for the project.

Hans Zimmer has composed the music for The Burning Plain, the feature film helming debut of Alejandro González Iñárritu writing partner Guillermo Arriaga (Babel, 21 Grams, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada), according to the Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency. Other music team members include music editor Joanie Diener and music supervisors Annette Fradera and Dana Sano. The film stars Kim Basinger and Charlize Theron as a mother and daughter who try to reconcile after many years of difficulties and conflicts. The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Hans Zimmer other upcoming films include Dreamworks Animation's Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which he is co-scoring with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am.
