Elvis Presley‘s “If I Can Dream” isn’t just a stunning song. It’s a stunning song that changed the entire arc of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll‘s career. In retrospect, Priscilla Presley called the song “a blessing.”
Elvis Presley’s ‘Bossa Nova Baby’ and ‘If I Can Dream’ bookended a bad era
Elvis’ “Bossa Nova Baby” is not one of his most famous songs today. It should be more remembered today because its release was a serious demarcation point in his career. The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits says it reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. Afterward, Elvis wouldn’t have a top 10 single for five-and-a-half years, save for a cover of the religious song “Crying in the Chapel.”

Even though Elvis Presley deserved to be there, he’s not on the cover of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Paul McCartney explained why this was the case. Interestingly, some of the “Hound Dog” singer’s contemporaries are on the album cover.
Elvis Presley isn’t on The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’ cover but Bob Dylan is
The cover of Sgt. Pepper pays tribute to people from all fields, including non-fiction writers, fiction writers, actors, athletes, political leaders, and religious leaders. Surprisingly, only a handful of these figures are musicians. Headshots of 1960s icons Bob Dylan and Dion Dimucci are visible on the record, and a doll wears a shirt reading “Welcome The Rolling Stones Good Guys.” Singer-actors like Shirley Temple, Diana Dors, and Marilyn Monroe are part of the artwork as well. Despite this, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll is nowhere to be seen.

Scott “Top Ten” Kempner, a founding member of influential bands The Dictators and The Del-Lords, has passed away at the age of 69. The veteran musician had been battling early onset dementia, and had been living at a Connecticut nursing home at the time of his passing.
As the original and longstanding rhythm guitarist of The Dictators, Kempner was a punk-rock pioneer. The New York City band formed in 1972 and released their proto-punk debut album The Dictators Go Girl Crazy! in 1975, a year before the Ramones fully ushered in punk rock with their self-titled debut.
Kempner remained with The Dictators through nearly all their incarnations, playing with them up until 2021, when his health struggles forced him to leave the band. He appeared on all four of their albums, which also included Manifest Destiny (1977), Bloodbrothers (1978), and D.F.F.D. (2001).

All four Beatles stood front and center on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band cover. They’re impossible to miss. And since it’s one of the most iconic album covers ever, millions of people have glanced at John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr over the years. But there were actually five Beatles on the Sgt. Pepper cover.

The Beatles altered the musical landscape with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and not just with the music. Its kaleidoscopic color-bomb collage cover stood in stark contrast to many albums of the era. It was the first album the Fab Four released after they stopped touring and put a nail into the coffin of Beatlemania that John Lennon wanted to hammer for years. Sgt. Pepper’s cover included dozens of famous faces in addition to John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. Ringo worked with two of them on notable projects outside of The Beatles.

Dion Dimucci was a teenager from the Bronx, New York, when he broke through in 1958 with “I Wonder Why.” He went on to score dozens of Top 40 hits in the late 1950s and early Sixties, on his own and with his group Dion and the Belmonts, including “Teenager in Love,” “Runaround Sue,” “The Wanderer,” and “Ruby Baby.”
For Dimucci, the best part of that success was getting the chance to play on the same stages as his heroes — especially Little Richard, who died today at age 87. “You never forget the...

Vanessa Hudgens is gearing up for her first-ever major co-hosting gig for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards and she couldn’t be more excited to meet one of her idols, Céline Dion.
“My parents had The Colour of My Love album by Céline Dion when I was growing up and I would always get my karaoke machine and sing along,” Hudgens, 28, tells People. “I feel like Céline is the reason I have the range that I have, because I sang along to those songs.”

Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration will take place Jan. 20 in Washington, D.C., but so far, the president-elect has had some difficulty assembling a star-powered lineup for the ceremony. Over the last month or so, more and more musicians have publicly declined to perform — even those who Trump has praised or have a previous relationship with the president-elect.
In preparation for the inauguration, here’s a handy list of everyone who won’t perform for the president-elect.
Andrea Bocelli
The classical singer was one of the first names to emerge as an inauguration performer.

Is there anything Celine Dion can't do? In July, the 48-year-old singer wowed Jimmy Fallon when she impersonated fellow pop stars Cher, Rihanna and Sia during a game of musical impressions on The Tonight Show. And on Monday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dion put her own spin on a few rap songs, including Missy Elliott's "Work It," Lmfao's "Shots (feat. Lil' Jon)" and Nelly's "Hot in Herre." "You sing these ballads all the time," Ellen DeGeneres explained. "I want you to keep growing as an artist, so we put some rap songs in the prompter. All you have to do is sing the words." Dion began with "Hot in Herre," and the audience...

Celine Dion stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to play "Wheel of Musical Impressions" with Fallon. The game occurred after she expressed joy for Ariana Grande's famous impression of Dion.
Dion appeared a bit nervous at the beginning of the game where she would have to perform a random song in the style of a random artist. She hit the button and had to perform "Frère Jacques" in the style of her friend Cher. Dion hit Cher's deep warble while also adding a bit of sass...

There's no denying Céline Dion's status as a musical legend, but her own musical talents aside, it seems like she has a knack for impressions. The "My Heart Will Go On" songstress appeared on The Tonight Show Thursday night and played Wheel of Musical Impressions with host Jimmy Fallon. Ariana Grande previously slayed in the game in which the guest has to perform a random selection of songs in the voice of other famous singers, but Dion might have stolen the victory crown right out from under her! Dion's first time spinning the wheel resulted in her having to perform "Frère Jacques" in Cher's voice, and although Dion has prominent vocals of her own, she was able to nail down...

She's been imitated by Ariana Grande on The Tonight Show, and now it's Céline Dion's turn to take the wheel... of Musical Impressions.
For Thursday's episode, the legendary singer not only performed Queen's "The Show Must Go On," but she also played the fan-beloved game and transformed her iconic voice to copy her friends Cher, Rihanna and Sia.
Dion, 48, nailed her imitation of Cher singing "Frére Jacques" and even slipped in a little bit of "Believe" at the end. And if that wasn't stellar enough, the Vegas headliner seamlessly parodied RiRi's hit "Work" into the classic "Row, Row,...

1 | We get that it was meant to reflect a big change in the characters’ lives, but could Girl Meets World have made high school seem any more terrifying or depressing? (It ain’t prison, people!) And how did the seniors get Riley’s home address to pay her a visit at the bay window?

Ever since AMC debuted Mad Men in July of 2007, TV aficionados have learned to keep an eye on what the channel slips onto the air during the dog days. Past summers have brought the likes of Humans and Halt and Catch Fire; the same time frame also brought us Rubicon, because hey, nobody's perfect. This year's contender for possible out-of-left-field Mvp is Feed the Beast: a drama about crime and cuisine starring Jim Sturgess as a coked-up ex-con chef and David Schwimmer as his morose sommelier best friend. I had no idea that AMC was developing a show called Feed the Beast with David Schwimmer and Jim Sturgess in the leads, but not only do we have a few images to share with you, but there's already a first look trailer available to watch (via Uproxx). It's a very quick look at the series, and it won't actually give you much information about the story, but luckily I have the full synopsis below:
“Feed the Beast” tells the story of Tommy (Schwimmer) and Dion (Sturgess) who are like brothers. With all the love – and all the complications – that comes with it. Dion can’t stay out of trouble. Tommy can’t move past it. For two friends on the brink of losing everything, a dusty pipe dream of opening up an upscale restaurant in their hometown of the Bronx is all they have left to turn their lives around.

Welcome to the first installment of our summer trip through "The Sopranos" season 1. When I revisited early seasons of "The Wire," as well as the whole run of "Deadwood," I did separate versions of each review for newcomers and veterans, but over time realized that the newcomers weren't commenting much, if at all, and that it therefore made sense to simply do one review. Any significant spoilers for episodes beyond the one being reviewed will be contained in a separate section at the end of the review; so long as you avoid that, and the comments, you should be fine. Thoughts on the first episode — which is also known as "The Sopranos" — coming up just as soon as I finish unscrewing my belly button... "It's good to be in something from the ground floor. I came too late for that, I know. But lately, I'm getting the feeling that I came in at the end.

If you didn’t grow up with the Beatles, the quality of the group that’s most defining — the degree to which they towered over the culture — is almost impossible to communicate in any organic way. I don’t mean to be patronizing to my Gen-x friends (although they’ve never been shy about patronizing me), but if you’re too young to remember the Beatles, you probably won’t get it. You’ll think: Okay, Michael Jackson meets Star Wars — I know, they were that big. But they weren’t. They were bigger. They may not have been bigger than Jesus,...

New York — Misty-eyed music promoter Sid Bernstein, who booked such top acts as Jimi Hendrix, Judy Garland and the Rolling Stones and hit the highest heights when he masterminded the Beatles' historic concerts at Shea Stadium and Carnegie Hall, died Wednesday at age 95.
Bernstein's daughter, Casey Deutsch, said he died in his sleep at a hospital. She cited no illness and said he died of natural causes.
For decades, the squat, floppy-haired Bernstein excelled like few others at being everywhere and knowing everybody. He worked with Garland, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles, promoted Dion, Bobby Darin and Chubby Checker and managed Esy Morales, the Rascals and Ornette Coleman. He was an early backer of Abba, setting up the Swedish group's first American appearances. He was behind one of the first rock benefit shows, the 1970 "Winter Festival for Peace" at Madison Square Garden, which featured Hendrix and Peter, Paul and Mary.

There are few "diva" songs more iconic that Bonnie Tyler's 1982 hit, "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Thus, all divas should sing it. One singer has managed to sing the tune in the style of 19 different divas -- all in one performance.
Comedian and singer Christine Bianco achieved this impressive feat at the 54 Below club in New York City. Apparently, she does entire concerts in which diva songs feature. After this performance, it's completely believable. Bianco doesn't just imitate the voices -- she gets some of the mannerisms too. The Celine Dion chest-bump-salute is especially entertaining.
This is obviously a woman who spends an awful lot of time listening to the divas sing.

Today's dueling dresses is between two stars we wouldn't expect in a fashion face off.In one corner, A-list, Oscar-winner Charlize Theron. In the other, B-list, Razzie-winner Lindsay Lohan. Both actresses wore this black Dion Lee dress from the Australian designer's Fall 2012 line. The illusion panels and halter neck create a sexy silhouette.Lindsay wore the dress during an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last week to promote "Liz & Dick." The flaming redhead paired her dress with open-toe Louboutin ankle boots, while a pre-shaved head Charlize wore hers with strappy heels at CinemaCon back in April. We think Lindsay looks pretty good, given this is a difficult dress to pull off, but Charlize makes it look effortless -- and we prefer her makeup (Lindsay's makes her look older than her 26 years, whereas 37-year-old Charlize looks fresh-faced). But it's your vote that counts. Click on the "Launch Gallery...

New York (AP) — Fred Milano, who made rock and roll history on doo-wop hits with Dion and the Belmonts in the 1950s and continued to perform while starting a late-in-life career with the New York City Department of Correction, has died. He was 72. Milano died Sunday, three weeks after his lung cancer was diagnosed, said Warren Gradus, who joined the Belmonts in 1963. Milano lived in Massapequa, on Long Island, and died in a hospital, Gradus said. Dion Dimucci, the lead singer who left the Belmonts in 1960, said on his Facebook page Tuesday, "May he rest in peace...
