We all know that The Room already holds the title of the best worst film in modern cinema, but is it possible another masterpiece can be squeezed out of its ridiculousness? Well, we already know that's true as The Disaster Artist is already getting rave reviews, but what about a song made only with lines from the film? Take that and a convincing Prince impersonator and you have a real hit on your hands. Seriously, if you aren't singing "You're tearing me apart, Lisa," at some point today you're crazy because this song is great!

The Disaster Artist's James Franco on taking us behind the camera on the biggest cult movie everThe Disaster Artist's James Franco on taking us behind the camera on the biggest cult movie everIngrid Randoja - Cineplex Magazine11/29/2017 10:34:00 Am
James Franco likes to make films, lots and lots of films.
The writer/actor/director had 18 films and TV shows in production or scheduled for release just this year — it’s taken George Clooney 10 years to make that many. However, many of Franco’s projects are indie pics that either get limited releases or sit on shelves waiting for distribution.
But he’s too good an actor and too interesting a director to have his work relegated to Hollywood’s bargain bin. Franco was looking for a breakout hit, and the delicious irony is that he’s directed the best movie of his career about the worst movie ever made.

Question: I’m loving The Good Doctor. Given that it is a David Shore show, is there any chance any House characters might at some point pop in for a cameo? —Matt
Ausiello: I doubt we’ll see any characters from House, since Universal owns those, but I would not be surprised at all if an actor from the original show were to check in at some point. (Robert Sean Leonard would fit in nicely at San Jose St.

Rose McGowan has written an open letter of sorts to Lisa Bloom, holding nothing back as she addresses the well-known attorney who served as an advisor to Harvey Weinstein before resigning from that position last weekend. Calling Bloom a “cancer” whose “very name makes my stomach clench with a stressed tightness that takes my breath away,” the actress reveals that she was recently saddled with a $24,000 bill from her own lawyer because he had to deal with Bloom and her counsel Charles Harder.

One thing some folks may not know about me is that I’m a huge Diy-er when it comes to the holidays, and that’s especially true for Halloween. Sometimes store-manufactured props and decorations can come with a hefty price tag attached, so for those of you who like to keep things simple and cheap, here are ten relatively quick and inexpensive outdoor decorating ideas that you can use this Halloween.
And don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a crafty person, either. Most of these are so easy, even kids can get involved, which means you should do just fine if you follow the directions and remember to have fun with it, too. Happy haunting!

“They used to make razors here”, laments Bryan Cranston, between takes on the set of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. He’s in one of the cavernous corridors of London’s Gillette Building, which has recently been converted into a film studio. It’s a rather fitting locale for the show, which is revisiting ten sci-fi short stories from the 1950s and finding their modern day relevance. The author of these stories was Philip K. Dick, who also provided the inspiration for Blade Runner and Minority Report.

I like when a director knows what he/she wants from his/her film — even if the goal is to entertain on a level that ensures its legacy falls short of cinematic greatness. Some of my favorite movies are those that demand to be re-watched not for comprehension’s sake or to acknowledge metaphor underneath formal expertise, but because they’re fun. Horror/comedy is ripe for delivering exactly that result with its ability for work to simultaneously excel as an example of the genre’s common tropes and a subversion of them. Director Peter Ricq knows this and decides to lay everything on the line with cowriters Phil Ivanusic and Davila LeBlanc in Dead Shack. They clearly separate good and evil, letting each loose within a contained setting to battle to the death.
So they start things off with a rousing prologue playing with the zombie motif as lark before revealing it as truth.

Nothing wrong with a little friendly family rivalry.
When Dr. Mehmet Oz was nominated in the same category as his daughter Daphne Oz at the Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday—he hosts The Dr. Oz Show and she cohosts The Chew—the two decided to put some stakes into the competition. “The loser has to cook the winner dinner,” Daphne told People on the red carpet before the ceremony.
“There is some discrepancy in whose meal is going to be better,” she added, saying that her father “never had to learn” to cook because her mom, Lisa, is a pro behind the stove.

This past week has been something of a treasure trove for DC fans. In addition to the news that Deathstroke would be the main villain in the upcoming Ben Affleck-directed standalone Batman film, there were rumors floating around that the standalone Flash film, starring Ezra Miller, would feature the Rogues as the main baddies of the piece.

On Saturday, the Aquaman actor uploaded a black-and-white snap of him and Lisa channeling their inner Disney characters, writing, "Beauty and the beast. #myqueen Mahalo @wfmft she loves u. We won." The snapshot is just the latest we've seen of Jason's golden sense of humor in recent weeks. By way of musical mockumentary, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping delivers hilarity, stupidity, and a whole lot of other expected “-ity’s.” This is textbook SNL-alumn scripting. Direct parallels are drawn to Jon M. Chu’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, The Lonely Island drops some raunchy new material, and celebrity cameos fight for top-billing. We’re talking about a movie that – in one moment – captures a fish-costume-wearing Justin Timberlake shredding guitar riffs while Tim Meadows plays saxophone and Michael Bolton backs up Andy Samberg (who is rapping about his silly thoughts). Will The 5th Wave start another Hunger Games-style young adult movie franchise? Here's our review of the film...
Based on the first in a planned trilogy of Ya novels by Rick Yancey (the third instalment is due out this year), this teenagers vs aliens thriller incorporates elements of both Twilight and The Hunger Games and should play well to fans of the books. As such, it's engaging, well cast and pacily directed, but it's slightly let down by some trite dialogue and plot twists that you can see coming a mile away.
Chloë Grace Moretz plays Ohio teenager Cassie Sullivan, a normal high school student whose life revolves around her loving parents Oliver and Lisa (Ron Livingston and Maggie Siff), her doted-on younger brother Sam (Zackary Arthur) and the monstrous crush-from-afar she has on good-looking football player Ben Parish (Jurassic World's Nick Robinson).

Of the many films James Franco has directed in the past few years (seriously, look at his IMDb page), there's one that will likely garner more attention than the others: The Disaster Artist, which chronicles the making of Tommy Wiseau's infamously terrible 2003 film The Room. That movie became a cult sensation, with a fandom that was completely baffled at how awful the movie was and how it managed to get made. Greg Sestero, who co-starred in The Room opposite the enigmatic and inexperienced Wiseau, wrote a book about the making of the movie called The Disaster Artist, and now Franco is directing a film adaptation of that book and playing Wiseau in the film. Dave Franco will play Sestero, and James recently shared a photo of the two of them in character on Instagram:...

With David and James Franco already on board, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that The Hunger Games and Divergent star Josh Hutcherson is in line to join The Disaster Artist, a making-of story that chronicles the infamous creation of The Room.
Based on Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell’s award-winning non-fiction novel of the same name, James Franco will direct and star in the feature as Tommy Wiseau, the idiosyncratic filmmaker that released cult thriller The Room in 2003, which is held up by many as one of the worst movies of all time. Now, more than a decade later, Franco and Co. are ready to tell the story behind the lens. At the time, Wiseau set out to write, direct and produce an offbeat drama with zero filmmaking experience, and the end result birthed a film that was considered to be so bad it was good.

Going UNDERGROUNDEverybody and their dog, it seems, feels this off imperative to try to identify common themes in the handful of festival films they (we) (I) see in a given year. It's the Ghost of Hegel, I suppose, demanding that we make sense of our times by referring to some Zeitgeist. (Zeitgeist? Isn't this just as likely to Strand the FilmsWeLike in some oh-so-precious Music Box, to be unearthed years later by members of some as-yet-unassembled Cinema Guild? But I digress.) There may or may not be tendencies running through this year's feature selections, and if there are, that could have as much to do with the people who selected them than with any global mood. But there does seem to be a generalized turning-inward, with filmmakers making works about themselves and their immediate lives, the cinematic process, and the very complexities of communicating with other human beings. There are...

From thrillers to sci-fi to horror, here's our pick of 20 films from 1986 that surely deserve a bit more love...
A fascinating year for film, 1986. It was a time when a glossy, expensive movie about handsome men in planes could dominate the box-office, sure (that would be Top Gun). But it was also a year when Oliver Stone went off with just $6m and came back with Platoon, one of the biggest hits of the year both financially and in terms of accolades. It was also a period when the British movie industry was briefly back on its feet, resulting in a new golden age of great films - one or two of them are even on this list.

This weekend's Atx Fest hosted a major milestone: A reunion of (almost) the entire cast of "Gilmore Girls," including Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, Danny Strong, Jackson Douglas, Matt Czuchry, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil, Liz Torres, Sean Gunn, and Yanic Truesdale. (Sadly, Edward Herrmann, who played Grandpa Richard Gilmore, passed away last year. Melissa McCarthy, meanwhile, is off being an international superstar.) The beloved WB series will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, and since a new generation of fans is now discovering the show on Netflix, festival organizers thought it was high time to get the Stars Hollow gang back together for some reminiscing.
