As grown-ish begins production on its sophomore season, Freeform announced today that Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, and Luka Sabbat have been added to the roster as series regulars while Diggy Simmons will return for season 2 in a recurring role.
Real-life sisters and musicians-turned-actors Chloe and Halle Bailey (they also co-wrote and perform the series’ theme song) will reprise their roles as sporty twins Jazz and Sky Forster. Sabbat will also return as Luca Hall, the stylish mellow “baby Basquiat” of the crew who is Zoey’s love interest throughout the first season. Simmons is set to come back to grown-ish in a recurring capacity as musical artist Doug.
From executive producer Kenya Barris (who recently signed an overall deal with Netflix), grown-ish is a spin-off of the acclaimed black-ish. The Freeform series is a contemporary take on the current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education.

Exclusive: Ben Silverman is returning to scripted television via the same route that made him an independent producer. ABC is finalizing a deal for a single-camera comedy based on the popular Spanish series Aquí no hay quien viva (loosely translated as I Hate This Place). Silverman will executive produce with Sofia Vergara, star of the network's Emmy-winning family comedy Modern Family. Craig Doyle has been tapped to write the adaptation, which marks the first broadcast scripted project for Silverman's Iac-based company Electus which he launched last summer following his rocky two-year tenure at NBC. I Hate This Place is a multi-cultural and multi-generational comedy in the tone of Modern Family and set in an apartment building. It follows the lives of an old school father and his corner-cutting son who must somehow work together to manage the outrageously eccentric tenants of the building that has been in their family for generations.

After a very successful movie career, Ryan Reynolds is returning to the place that made him a star, but this time he’ll be producing instead of acting. Today, NBC picked up the rights to Mayors of Casterbridge, which is described as ‘Old School meets Gran Torino.’ If the pilot gets a full pickup, Reynolds may have a small, returning guest spot on the show. Here’s how Deadline describes the series:
It revolves around four elder statesmen of a classic American Neighborhood who have their community threatened by a young upstart determined on making Casterbridge just another homogenized tract home complex. These four men band together to restore their neighborhood to its glory days, while helping each other take on the new challenges in their life.
Craig Doyle will serve as the writer for the series. The series is from Warner Bros. Television and is produced by Reynolds’ Dark Trick Films.

Craig Doyle is getting fraternal.
The film and television scribe has sold two sibling-themed television projects, including one that is being developed by 20th Century Fox TV and the studio-based Chernin Entertainment.
The 20th TV/Chernin project, set up at Fox, is a comedy about an adult man who's made a mess of his life but must come to the aid of his Type A sister after she suffers a tragedy.
Doyle also has sold the multicamera sibling comedy "Three Sisters" to CBS. Produced by CBS Television Studios and Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg's Katalyst Films, it focuses on three very different men who marry three sisters who are extremely close.

Irish actor Colin Farrell - currently filming "London Boulevard" with Anna Friel - is the top choice for fantasy father in Ireland. A whopping 23 percent of Irish women said they would like hard-partying Farrell to be the father of their child. The studly actor came in ahead of Ireland's rugby star Rob Kearney and TV presenter Craig Doyle who came joint second, while Irish American comedian Des Bishop and rugby player Ronan O'Gara were tied third at 8 percent. Oddly, Irish hottie rugby star Brian O'Driscoll sputtered across the line with just 6 percent of votes tallied. The women didn't spell out why they wanted Farrell to be the fantasy father but I can only guess why! However, his popularity might take a nose dive when the new movie "Liars (A-e)" hits the silver screen later this year. "Liars" was penned by Farrell's former flame Emma Forrest and is based on their relationship and subsequent break-up.
