Attended film school at Columbia College, Hollywood and graduated in
1985. Started working immediately out of school as a second assistant
cameraman on low budget features. Worked as a 2nd AC for almost two
years before moving up to first assistant cameraman. Continues to work
as a 1st AC but primarily works as a camera operator.
Has taught cinematography and camera assistant workshops throughout the U.S., including Columbia College, Hollywood from 1988-1996 and served as President of the College from 1994-1995.
Recently retired from the cinematography faculty at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Filmmaking in Winston-Salem, NC. Named Professor Emeritus upon retirement from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Retired member of the Society of Camera Operators and the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600.
Author of The Camera Assistant's Manual, Seventh Edition, published by Focal Press.
