Genoa City’s summer just got markedly hotter, with the news that Melissa Claire Egan is set to reprise her role as The Young and the Restless‘ Chelsea Newman.
Egan begins taping new scenes in May, with an eye on an early summer return, EW.com reports. News of her return comes on the heels of Mark Grossman (Famous in Love) being cast as a slightly de-SORASed Adam Newman (aka Chelsea’s baby daddy, I think), a role that has previously been played by Justin Hartley (This Is Us), Michael Muhney and Chris Engen.

Sorry, Michael Muhney stans, ‘The Young and the Restless’ picked someone else to play Adam Newman #4
We recently asked our readers who they thought should be cast as the nefarious Adam Newman on “The Young and the Restless” if the character should come back from the (presumed) dead. Well, it was recently reported that the role has been filled, and it looks like the CBS soap didn’t listen to any of my wildly speculative suggestions — not that I’m bitter. But they also didn’t revert to a previous actor like many of our readers would have preferred. Mark Grossman will play Adam, not past portrayer Michael Muhney.
Grossman is a newcomer to daytime television whose past credits include a recurring role in the Freeform series “Famous in Love.” He’ll be the fourth man to play Adam Newman on “Y&R” following Chris Engen (2008-2009), Muhney (2009-2014) and Justin Hartley (2014-2016). Muhney earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Actor in 2013 for his performance as Adam,...

“I think that’s great,” Justin Hartley told Soap Opera Digest during a recent interview when asked about the possibility of his daytime alma mater “The Young and the Restless” recasting his role as Adam Newman, a devious businessman with serious daddy issues. “They should. Adam is a great character,” the actor added. Of course, Hartley himself has a rather full plate these days as one of the stars of NBC’s “This is Us,” so if Adam were to return to Genoa City, it might need to be with a new face.
Hartley actually got his start in daytime. He joined the cast of NBC’s “Passions” in 2002 as Fox Crane and stayed with the show until 2006, after which the role was taken over by Mark Cameron Wystrach for another year and a half before the character was shot to death by his girlfriend’s niece — don’t you hate it when that happens?...

Below you will see a rating for Easy Rider: The Ride Back, a film from Pan America Pictures that I had not heard of, but checked out and based on the official site it's described as a "long awaited" prequel to the Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson classic Easy Rider and apparently "shows through flashbacks how these much loved characters became the classic icons of a generation."
The film is directed by Dustin Rikert and stars a bunch of people I've never heard of such as Chris Engen, Michelle Borth, Thomas Blankenship and Newell Alexander. Oh, and Jeff Fahey (Grindhouse), I've heard of him. You can watch the trailer just to the right if you are so inclined.
Other than that note, here are the new MPAA ratings from Bulletin No: 2135.
Bran Nue Dae Rated PG-13 For sexual content and drug use. Catfish Rated PG-13 For some sexual references.

We were so excited last summer by the arrival of Michael Muhney as Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless.
He was an emergency recast last summer for Chris Engen and walked right into a storyline that had his character partially blind and sleeping with his lawyer and friend Rafe (Yani Gellman) to get out of a jam. It was disappointing that the Adam and Rafe storyline did not develop further or that the two never even shared an on-screen kiss.
But Muhney, previously best known for his role on Veronica Mars, was just terrific in the role and it is sad that Adam was killed off. He had gotten so evil it seems there was no way to let him live!
On his Twitter account today he wrote to fans: You all stop worrying about me! You’re too kind. I couldn’t be happier with my predicament.

What does it mean that there are three new entertainment projects where straight men are sexually involved with other men?
The three projects: Torchwood, Humpday and the Adam/Rafe storyline on The Young and the Restless.
Torchwood's Jack (John Barrowman) and Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd)
Britain’s Torchwood first broke gay ground with its leading bisexual character (in a genre show, no less). Now with the show’s third season (a five-part miniseries) running on BBC America for five days starting last night, that leading character, Captain Jack Harkness, is still involved with his male co-worker Ianto.
But this time around, we learn that Ianto is not gay or bisexual; he’s actually straight, but just happens to respond emotionally and sexually to Jack. Confusing? It shouldn’t be. Such emotions and relationships have always been part of the human spectrum. It’s just that, until very recently, we haven...

Patricia Mauceri is out, Saundra Santiago is in ... and younger
This weekend soap boards were abuzz with news that U.S. daytime television apparently lost another actor due to a gay storyline. (Chris Engen left The Young and the Restless earlier this month, reportedly in part over having to kiss another man.) This time it is One Life to Live's Patricia Mauceri who is being replaced by Saundra Santiago.
To nutshell it for you, Maureci's character (Carlotta Vega) was to have a "comedic" storyline in which she mistakenly believed her womanizing son Cristian (David Fumero, pictured below) was gay. Daytime Confidential reported that Mauceri personally objected to a gay-positive storyline while SoapCentral says not only was the actress already unhappy with the show, but the show might have deliberately provoked her into quitting.
Would you object if this man was gay?

Yani Gellman and Michael Muhney
TV Guide is reporting that The Young and The Restless has just recast the role of Adam Wilson, the nefarious client of gay lawyer Rafe Torres (Yani Gellman). The role will be taken over by Michael Muhney, best remembered as Sheriff Don Lamb on gay-fave Veronica Mars.
Why the recast and why would it matter to AfterElton readers? File this under "rumors and speculation" for now, but soaps columnist Nelson Branco says that Chris Engen (who previously played Adam) walked off the set after refusing to kiss Gellman for a scene and has quit the show, leading to the last-minute replacement casting. Branco adds that Engen hasn't been happy with his character's villainous ways and has previously staged a few sickouts in protest.
