- Allen was the second son born to Howard Hoy Fawcett and Ruth Allen Bogan Fawcett.
- His father, Howard, had a degree in Chemical Engineering and became a member of the Manhattan Project which built the first atomic bomb. His older brother, Ralph, had degrees from Princeton and Yale plus a medical degree from the University College of Galway, Ireland.
- Moved to Las Vegas in 2004.
- Allen followed in his mother's footsteps and became a professional actor (Actor's Equity) in 1969, a member of the television union (AFTRA) in 1974, and a member of the Screen Actors Guild the same year.
- His mentor was the late Dick Clark.
