It was Pride and Drag Queen picket day in Los Angeles, where around 300 people hit up Warner Bros. Discovery to highlight their issues as the strike marches into its second month.
The hundreds of writers attending the picket were provided glitter and stickers for their signs on the first day of Pride month. The event attracted the likes of Severance creator Dan Erickson to Yellowjackets star Liv Hewson.
“When queer writers are under attack,” chanted the crowd, “What do we do? Stand up, fight back.” Others added, “If we don’t get it, shut it down.”
Signs featured sayings such as “Protect All Queer Art” and “I’m Gay For Pay” as Whitney Houston’s I’m Every Woman blasted from a speaker system.

The “Dogs Playing Poker” shorts are created by, co-written and executive produced by Emmy-winning writer/producer Jim Margolis and produced by Fox’s animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment. Leary co-wrote, executive-produced, and voiced the lead character in each short.

Why Women Kill should be much more than it is.
Mark Cherry assembles a truly magnificent cast for what is billed as a darkly comedic drama, but after two episodes (all that were available for me to review) it's very difficult to connect with the characters, and that's troublesome.
Marc Cherry is no stranger to a good comedic drama. In fact, he's a master.
With both Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids, he managed to capture lightning in a bottle. Twice!
With soapy twists galore, the characters on those series were still straightforward, and their motivations, while not pure, always came from a place of soapland logic.
Why Women Kill, on the other hand, is a little too heavy on comedy at the expense of character development.
The series doesn't hide its intent. Not only is it in the title, but the opening credits are a cute collection of comic book...

Exclusive: Former Rescue Me and Nurse Jackie star Adam Ferrara is set for a recurring role opposite Alicia Coppola, Ginnifer Goodwin, Sam Jaeger in CBS All Access’ Why Women Kill, a darkly comedic drama from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios.
Created by Cherry, Why Women Kill details the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the ‘60s (Goodwin), a socialite in the ‘80s (Lucy Liu) and a lawyer in 2018 (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), each dealing with infidelity in her marriage. The series will examine how the roles of women have changed but how reactions to betrayal have not.
Ferrara will play Leo, married to Sheila (Coppola) and owner of a dry-cleaning chain in Brooklyn, set in 1963. Always good-humored and happy to welcome Rob (Jaeger) and Beth Ann (Goodwin) to the neighborhood.

It looks as though the Us version of the Top Gear TV show on History has been cancelled after six seasons. Based on the BBC series of the same name (which airs on BBC America in the States), History's Top Gear is hosted by Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara, and Rutledge Wood. Via social media, Wood shared that the Tuesday, June 28 episode (tomorrow's) of Top Gear is the last episode produced.
While Wood thinks the show could still continue somewhere, his remarks make it sound as though he is certain Top Gear has completed its final lap on History. He said, in part, "I don't think the show is done, it appears that it's done with our friends at History, and we're incredibly grateful for being a part of the A&E Networks family."

Nurse Jackie was never quite a perfect show. Beautifully performed, certainly. Gutsy in its antiheroism. But bumpy. There were the super-heavy elements of Jackie's ongoing addiction and its ability to eclipse everything else in her life, sometimes balanced by the inviting warmth of Merritt Wever's performance as the irrepressible Zoey. But those things never paired that well with Akalitus's more slapstick humor, or Coop's chronic inappropriateness, or O'Hara's … anything. The show cycled through guest stars — Bobby Cannavale, Adam Ferrara, Morris Chestnut, Julie White, Laura Benanti, and, most recently, Tony Shalhoub and Mark Feuerstein — and seemingly high-stakes story lines. Yet despite the trail of death and destruction she left in her wake, nothing much seemed to stick for Jackie. Relapse is part of recovery, but Jackie relapsed more than she recovered, which is why her character's end felt fair, if not welcome. Addiction, man. It'll kill you.Or maybe...

Showtime has renewed Nurse Jackie for a seventh season, the network announced today. Jackie's sixth season starts April 13, so this is a pretty early renewal by Showtime standards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Facinelli will not be a regular on season seven, which is probably a good thing, since his character, Dr. Cooper, is the worst, both in the sense that all the characters dislike him and also the fact that his presence does not help the story arc of the show. There's a lot to love about Nurse Jackie, namely Edie Falco Jackie, Merritt Wever's fantastic Zoey, and Adam Ferrara as Jackie's down-to-earth cop boyfriend. But then the show goes to loopy town with Anna Deavere Smith's Dr. Akalitus and Facinelli's Coop, and it's like a humanely explored story about a recovering addict is suddenly a weird slapstick comedy about morons.

"Nurse Jackie" finished off a wildly uneven Season 5 with an inevitable ending: Jackie fell off the wagon and started using again, at the exact time her friends and family were celebrating her year of sobriety.
We knew this was coming ever since last season, when Jackie (Edie Falco) bolted out of rehab before finishing the program. There's also the fact that this show is designed to track the trials and tribulations of an addict -- something that's a lot harder to do with a sober lead. What's disappointing is that Season 5 never did much to raise the stakes for that moment.
Maybe Jackie's perfunctory relapse will help straighten out the show, which struggled to find its way after the unprecedented highs of Season 4. A big shift behind-the-scenes -- creators and former showrunners Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem departed their roles and "Dexter" producer Clyde Phillips stepped in -- led to...

As the fifth season wraps up this Sunday night, the show is still smart, tight, and interesting and has just...

[Spoilers ahead] Jackie finally got a promising (and sober!) relationship on Nurse Jackie this season, courtesy of stand-up comic Adam Ferrara, who played the warm and likable cop Frank Verelli, a guy who gave Jackie quirky gifts and a high-five after sex. Now that the couple has exchanged I love yous, we expect to see a lot more of Ferrara’s character on the show — assuming Jackie’s recent relapse doesn't get in the way. Ferrara spoke to Vulture ahead of this Sunday’s season-five finale (which is already available on demand) about booty calls, tattoos, and kissing Edie Falco. You watch Game of Thrones, but didn't read the books, I learned from your Twitter ... Man, the Red Wedding! I thought there were fights at my family gatherings, but wow! Usually, at my family's weddings, you yell at one of the cousins for taking one of the bridesmaids into the coat closet.

Showtime’s resident Rn played by Edie Falco won’t be seeking unemployment benefits anytime soon. This just in, Nurse Jackie has been renewed for a season 6. The cast of the critically acclaimed series can break out the bubbly to celebrate.
If you are counting down, we are about nine days away from Nurse Jackie‘s season 5 finale, which happens on June 16th and has the title “Soul”. Doesn’t that sound alluring? Soak it up, because season 6 won’t launch until 2014.
Did you know the Showtime series was a co-production between the network and Lionsgate? It is. We like out Showtime characters nice and flawed and Edie Falco’s Emmy-winning character Jackie Peyton is definitely that. Clyde Phillips took over as showrunner following Season 4, and he will stick around for season 6, as will his fellow executive producers Caryn Mandabach, Richie Jackson and Tom Straw.

Ten days before Nurse Jackie‘s fifth-season finale, Showtime has renewed the dark comedy for a sixth season to premiere in 2014. A co-production of Showtime and Lionsgate, Nurse Jackie stars Edie Falco in her Emmy-winning role as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant — but very flawed — emergency room nurse. Clyde Phillips, who took over as showrunner after Season 4, will be back, joined by fellow exec producers Caryn Mandabach, Richie Jackson and Tom Straw. Production for the sixth season will begin this fall in New York. “Nurse Jackie is an essential part of the Showtime brand, and we are thrilled with the series’ growth in its fifth season,” said Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins. “Under the new leadership of Clyde Phillips, and with an amazing cast led by Edie Falco, this show is as sharp and compelling and entertaining as ever. I’m excited to get to see the next chapter in Jackie’s life.

This Means War, indeed! On the heels of her Apr. 19 arrest in Atlanta, Reese Witherspoon canceled her Apr. 22 press appearances for Mud (including an interview on Good Morning America). The 37-year-old actress was scheduled to tape an episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, Apr. 23, but Witherspoon has been removed from the lineup. Fellow guest Eli Manning will fulfill his obligation, however. Witherspoon has since been replaced by Nurse Jackie star Adam Ferrara. The Oscar winner -- who was arrested for disorderly [...]...

In the wake of her recent arrest, Reese Witherspoon has cancelled her upcoming appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
The 37-year-old was slated to appear on the talk show on Tuesday (April 23), according to "Late Night's" website, and will now be replaced by Adam Ferrara.
On Friday (April 19), the "Water for Elephants" actress was arrested for disorderly conduct after her husband Jim Toth was arrested for DUI.
Earlier, the blonde beauty issued an apology for her behavior, via her rep, saying in part, "Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said."

Reese Witherspoon apparently isn't in interview mode just yet, following her arrest in Atlanta on Friday. After she pulled the plug on today's press appearances for her new film Mud, the website for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon is showing that the Oscar winner is no longer scheduled to appear on the show Tuesday. Instead of Witherspoon and Eli Manning as the main guests, the site is now promoting the New York Giants quarterback and Nurse Jackie's Adam Ferrara. (Warning: The following "Nurse Jackie" Season 5 review contains minor plot spoilers and a few general storyline details not revealed in the season premiere. We're not trying to give anything away, but proceed with caution if you're spoiler sensitive.)
After a season in which Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" redefined itself as essential viewing, anything less is going to feel like a disappointment. And while recovering addict Jackie still hasn't relapsed at the beginning of Season 5, her series is taking several steps backwards.
Season 4 started with a bang: Jackie's marriage was in pieces, she voluntarily entered rehab, her best friend Dr. O'Hara (Eve Best) was pregnant and her colleagues were thrown for a loop by All Saints' aggressive and arrogant new administrator Mike Cruz (Bobby Cannavale). The season took off from there, making brilliant use of every member of its ensemble to tell a terrific arc about personal and professional turmoil and...

Stand-up comic Brian Regan has built a career out of universal appeal, but the "everyman" comic still gets mistaken for Jim Gaffigan (and whoever does a joke about boullouin cubes) when he's out with his daughter in public.
But that's just one of the tidbits Regan shared with me over the phone ahead of his appearance on A Garden Of Laughs, a benefit show at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 26. where Regan will perform alongside Adam Ferrara, Darrell Hammond, Robert Klein, Brian Regan, Ray Romano and Wanda Sykes to raise money for children in need. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.

TVLine is reporting that Nurse Jackie will be welcoming one of the unlikeliest of guest stars - the love interest for Jackie.
Adam Ferrara (Rescue Me) has signed on to appear on the fifth season of the Emmy-nominated Showtime dramedy as a NYPD officer that makes a connection with Jackie. The role will be recurring through the season, though details about the character and the first meeting with the caustic nurse have yet to be released.
This could be a great sign for Jackie's battle with her addiction. If she's feeling comfortable enough to think about dating again after Kevin, she must be in a fairly good head space, particularly since her suitor is a man in blue. For the first three seasons of Nurse Jackie, Jackie was very much a risk taker, submerged in her addition and willing to do whatever to keep her web of lies safe. However,...

The "Top Gear" (Tues., 9 p.m. Et on History) team took on truck racing Tuesday night.
Having beaten his co-hosts to win a spot in an actual truck race in California, Rutledge Wood got to race for real, but it nearly ended in tragedy. After taking a series of bumps at speed, Rutledge wiped out.
His truck flipped over several times before finally coming to rest on its roof. Adam Ferrara watched anxiously as the safety crew and medics attended to Rutledge. "It's not good," Adam said. "He's not standing up."
Thankfully, a battered and bruised Rutledge sustained only minor injuries. "How'd it look?" he asked Adam.
"It looked great ... we need another angle," joked Adam. "Can you do it again?"

What better way to arrive at the Emmy Awards than in your very own limo that you've designed and built yourself?
That's exactly what the "Top Gear" (Tues., 9 p.m. Et on History) team did Tuesday night, and they not only raced each other there, they also dragged some nervous-looking celebs along for the ride.
Glamazon Terri Seymour had to share a ride with Rutledge Wood in his old jalopy masquerading as a stretch Vw Rabbit pick-up. "I'm not going to have to drive, am I?" she asked anxiously.
Meanwhile, "DWTS" judge Bruno Tonioli was paired with Tanner Foust in a much more impressive looking ride: a 1987 stretch Corvette (in red, natch). However, judging from Tonioli's pleas to be let out and his shrieks every time they hit a bump, it wasn't a smooth ride.
"That was like the Titanic hitting an iceberg," Tonioli said of one particularly ferocious encounter with a pothole.

The guys of "Top Gear" (Tue., 9 p.m. Et on History) were tasked with selecting a high-end convertible for a celebrity buyer, only they weren't told who the buyer was. So they picked their cars and then had to try their best to convince Donald Trump that theirs was the car to buy.
Rutledge Wood had a Lamborghini, and emphasized the exclusivity of the model he'd chosen. "Less than 200 made a year," he lauded.
Tanner Faust's pitch sounded like he was trying to sell Trump on a race car. "This is a driver's car. It's the quickest out of the bunch. 0-60 in 2.7 seconds." But is that what would matter to a guy like Donald Trump? He doesn't seem like a guy focused on speed.
The most practical car of the bunch came from Adam Ferrara, who offered up a Bentley Continental Gtc. And Ferrara had a sales pitch that...

The "Top Gear" (Tue., 9 p.m. Est on History) team became the first people to cross the continental divide on a mule trail, and their vehicle of choice was the humble minivan.
As they navigated through a treacherously narrow pass in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, convoy leader Tanner Foust ran into trouble. His minivan got stuck on the edge of a cliff.
The first sign of danger was when Tanner noticed that "the back end is trying to slip off the freaking cliff right now."
As he urged his minivan on he became firmly stuck. He couldn't drive forward, but couldn't reverse either because his rear tires were inches from the edge.
Eventually his co-hosts Rutledge Wood and Adam Ferrara joined forces to push him on with their minivans.
As the trio completed their epic drive a jubilant Adam announced: "We have crossed the continental divide! In minivans!"

It's either Gordon Ramsay night or Misery Night or, if you're on one of Gordon Ramsay's shows, it's both! There's also some season finales signaling the beginning of the August doldrums of television shows where everything is in reruns or some lame show that the network decided to dump at the end of summer because they knew everyone would be either too hot to care or busily making vacation plans since they just realized it's goddamn August already. However, most of the season finales are for shows that I haven't seen any chatter about here anyway ("Basketball Wives" anyone?) so I hope none of you are adversely affected. Anyway, here's your Monday night TV:
8:00pm: "Bachelor Pad" on ABC. Three hour second season premiere. Wait, second season? I think my brain erased all previous memories of this show because I literally had no clue that it existed before...

As I'm sure everyone knows, Top Gear made the trip across the pond, and as much as it may seem odd to say, given the nature of the beast, it's one of the better efforts at taking a show from The UK and "Americanizing" it. Fans of the original took to the show immediately, and new recruits found something to love.
There is something unique and special about the variety found in the show, and every episode takes viewers on a wild ride, but you're never sure exactly what you're going to get.
It was certainly a tricky move, considering the fanbase the original show has built over the years, and nothing could be more important than the selection of hosts. Adam Ferrara, Tanner Foust, and Rutledge Wood seem to have come together to form the perfect group, combining the fun, knowledge, and atmosphere of the original surprisingly well.

Chicago – It’s hard to believe that we’ve been through six seasons of FX’s beloved “Rescue Me,” a show that never really took off with a very wide audience but has loyal, ardent followers. Being a fan of star Denis Leary for years, I think I can safely say that he’d rather have the small, dedicated following, then one larger but filled with a-holes. Those fans should be satisfied with the start of the final season of one of FX’s most notable shows, even if it does, once again, highlight both the strengths and weakness of a program that was always good but rarely great.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
When “Rescue Me” premiered in 2004, it seemed to capture something about the continuing impact of 9/11 that had been missing from dramatic television. Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) was a perfect protagonist for those times when war and the constant threat of another terrorist act loomed.

The Emmy race for best reality program has been led in recent years by winners like "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," "Intervention" and "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution," but there's a zippy new contender aiming to zoom up front: "Top Gear." That's the U.S. spin-off of the hit British auto show that's syndicated around the globe and currently spinning its irreverent wheels on the History Channel, which has renewed it for a second season. It stars three frisky guys – a racing analyst (Rutledge Wood), pro race driver (Tanner Foust), and resident rascal comic (Adam Ferrara) – in the drivers' seats of lots of vehicles that they test: luxury cars, race cars, pickup trucks, all-terrain vehicles. Celebrities like Dominic Monaghan, Kid Rock and Ty Burrell often go along for the ride and everything gets revved up high, especially the snarky commentary that proves that getting there is more than half the fun.
