Undeniable talent, Devastating truthfulness, Compelling, If Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper and Marlo Thomas had a baby, she'd be That Girl. These are words the critics have used to describe the work of Cynthia Gravinese.
Born and raised in the Italian section of Philadelphia, Pa., the youngest of five children, Cynthia made her stage debut in at 10 as Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ and knew she found her calling.
After attending the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts, she made her way to New York City where she studied at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and upon graduation, she began working in a variety of Off- Broadway theaters and regional theaters.
In Los Angeles, Cynthia had the pleasure of performing in one of her most memorable roles as Rose Weiss in A Shayna Maidel. An award winning hit show that faces the horrors of the Holocaust; it is also a deeply personalized study of sisterhood, family and a crisis of faith. Raw and ultimately uplifting, the show was a smash hit.
In the comedy world, Cynthia became a part of the famed Candid Camera improv troupe of actors pulling pranks and catching people off guard across the United States. She apologizes in advance to her victims, especially the lady who asked for directions while she portrayed Miss Information in Chicago, only to direct her victim to the Statue of Liberty!
For 13 years she had the pleasure of running around the halls of the famed Greystone Mansion in a red flapper dress, boa and high heels causing mayhem and havoc as the saucy, hilarious, scheming British dance hall trollop, in the long running, continually sold out show The Manor, based on the Doheny family rise and fall.
Her love for dance and the diverse people she encountered at the local YMCA triggered her imagination and her hit web series Meet Me at the Barre was born. Streaming on Youtube, the series stars Cynthia, Pete Gardner, (My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), former Broadway dancer, Malinda Farrington, Deb Snyder, and Thomas Fiscella.
