- Jack was an excellent athlete who was a pitcher with the Pittsburg Pirates organization for over 10 years. After his baseball career, he moved on to golf, while also working as an actor. He was a longtime member of the Professional Golfers Association, played competitively, & later taught at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, CA.
- Was frequently cast in various small roles in his brother James Garner's 1974-1980 NBC-TV series The Rockford Files (1974), and in other productions starring James Garner thereafter, including Bret Maverick (1981), The Rockford Files movies, and Streets of Laredo (1995), Jack Garner's final role.
