- (1979) Gimbel wrote the first of two stage musicals with longtime collaborator Charles Fox-- a rock musical version of "Midsummer Night's Dream" for the LA Shakespeare Festival starring Susan Tyrell and Cleavon Little. The musical played at the Ford Theater and was directed by Kim Friedman. (1998) Fox & Gimbel's musical "The Eleventh", a comedy about the "4000 year history of the Jews", book by Leonara Thuna, ran in South Florida starring Shelley Berman.
