- Was nominated for Broadway's 1956 Tony Award as author, adapted by Christopher Fry, of Best Play nominee "Tiger at the Gates."
- His play, "The Madwoman of Chaillot," was awarded a 1976 Joseph Jefferson Citation for Play Production at the Old Town Plays Theatre in Chicago, Illinois with Belinda Bremmer-Carr, Michael Merritt, and directed by Patrick O'Gara. (1977)
- Diplomat and playwright, he is the father of Jean-Pierre Giraudoux born 29 December 1919 in Paris and died there 9 June 2000 . Jean-Pierre, author co-founded the Prix Médicis and a foundation in his father's name.
