Well, this one's a bit of a headscratcher.
Peacock is no longer moving forward with the TV adaptation of the hit 1989 movie Field of Dreams.
Variety broke the news late Thursday.
The good news is that the series is not dead yet.
It is being shopped to other potential buyers, and given the success of the movie and the talent behind this project, there's a good chance it will land somewhere.
Mike Schur was to write and executive produce the project alongside Lawrence Gordon (who produced the original movie via his Gordon Co.), David Miner, and Morgan Sackett.
This is Schur's second series at Peacock, following in the footsteps of the successful Rutherford Falls, which recently launched its second season.
“Field of Dreams is an iconic Universal Film title from venerable producers Lawrence and Charles Gordon, that we could only have entrusted to Mike Schur,” said Erin Underhill, President, Universal Television...

The highlight of the event was the must-see film of 2015 – Ridley Scott’s The Martian.
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, Nasa and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. You know what the best Die Hard is. You know what the worst is. But where do the others sit in the Die Hard league table?
A quick preamble. Over the course of the coming weeks and months, we're going to be exploring many of our favourite movie franchises, and ranking the films in order. Mainly because it gives us a further chance to talk about many of our favourite films.
Inevitably, the ordering in these cases isn't always going to come as a surprise - we go into this with the first and last place in most of these lists immediately obvious - but it's interesting to see how the movies stand in the context of each other. Police Academy week in particular should be a hoot.
When it comes to ranking the Die Hard films then, the battle is really between Die Hards 2 and 3 for second place. But...

Just six years after the original missed its target, 20th Century Fox are rebooting the Hitman film franchise.
Deadline say Fast & Furious star Paul Walker will lead the movie titled Agent 47, a new attempt at making an adaptation that leaves up to the quality of the hit Square Enix video game.
But before you get too excited (which granted is difficult when we are talking about a Paul Walker movie), the movie is to be co-written by Skip Woods (A Good Day To Die Hard, Swordfish), the man who wrote the 2007 original! So rather bafflingly, we can probably expect more of the same.
Predators writer Michael Finch will help him with writing the screenplay, and the film will be directed by commercials filmmaker Aleksander Bach, who will be making his feature film debut.

From Variety: Universal Pictures Intl. is looking to launch an action-adventure centered on the young Leonardo da Vinci, snapping up Jonny Kurzman's "Leonardo" spec and setting it up with Larry and Charles Gordon. Story is focused on da Vinci's quest to stop Renaissance Europe from returning to the Dark Ages. Somehow I bet this does not involve a multi-decade plan to boost literacy throughout Europe, thwart the influence of the Church through logic and reason, and elevate the status of women so that they may be more active participants in civic culture.

Universal Pictures is moving forward on action-adventure take on the young Leonardo da Vinci. Variety reports that the studio has purchased a spec script penned by Jonny Kurzman and has Larry and Charles Gordon on board as producers.
The story will focus on "da Vinci's quest to stop Renaissance Europe from returning to the Dark Ages. The Mona Lisa and Last Supper painter was also a mathematician, architect, sculptor, writer, scientist and inventor -- including concepts for a helicopter, a tank, solar power, a calculator and the double hull."
The production will be overseen by Lawrence Gordon Prods. VP Philip Westgren. Larry Gordon produced Watchmen and the Hellboy films. Charles Gordon produced Hitman and The Girl Next Door. This sounds like an interesting project. I love history and revisionist projects, so this sounds pretty cool.

It's been a few years since we first saw Agent 47 transition onto the big screen in the 2007 film "Hitman." It's not like the movie didn't do well, as a matter of fact it accumulated an estimated $100 million in the worldwide box office, but there never was any follow up film for the potential franchise. However, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel with a possible sequel if producers Chuck Gordon and Adrian Askarieh have anything to do with it. Next year Square Enix will be releasing "Hitman: Absolution," and if these two producers can get their idea off the ground, it may be accompanied by a movie sequel at the same time."Everyone would very much like to have both the game and the movie released in the same window," said Askarieh. There are those who saw Timothy Olyphant in video game to big screen remake, Hitman back in 2007 and there were those who didn’t. I fall into the latter category as the film really didn’t interest me personally, however it seems that the property interested some people enough to warrant a sequel – and now that sequel has it’s director!
Deadline Hollywood/New York or whatever they’re calling themselves now they’ve been bought out, have reported that Spanish director Daniel Benmayor is in their sights as director of the sequel, which has yet to secure Olyphant for a return. This from Deadline:
Benmayor will make his Hollywood debut on the sequel to the film based on the Eidos videogame about a master assassin. Fox is planning a fall production start.
Benmayor, the Barcelona-born Nyu grad created a following shooting Spanish commercials for Sony PlayStation, Renault, Mercedes, Heineken and Samsung.

Spanish filmmaker Daniel Benmayor ("Paintball," "Bruc") has been hired to direct a sequel to the 2007 video game-based action feature "Hitman" for 20th Century Fox reports Deadline.
Xavier Gens directed the original $30 million film which starred Timothy Olyphant as the bald assassin Agent 47, a film which went on to gross $100 million worldwide. Whether or not Olyphant will return is still unclear but there's an option on him to return.
Story details will borrow from the video game "Hitman 5" in which a beaten Agent 47 must build himself back psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as world’s most feared assassin.
Daniel Casey has penned the most recent draft of the sequel, taking over scripting duties from Kyle Ward. Adrian Askarieh, Alex Young and Chuck Gordon will return as producers. Shooting could kick off as early as this Fall.

I really, really enjoyed Hitman. Timothy Olyphant is one of my favorite actors and he brought an edge and a badass nature to the famous video game character. The producers even had the decency to cast the super hot Olga Kurylenko who was naked half the time. Plus there were numerous shootouts and dudes getting their heads blown off. We even got the cool sword fight in the train car. Who cares where they got the swords from? They could have pulled them from out of their asses for all I care, all I know is I got to see a bunch of dudes fighting with swords and guns.Looks as if Xavier Gens won't be returning to direct the sequel. Back in August 1986, two horror movies debuted on the same Friday in New York-area theaters. The film that got more publicity, and that most of the genre fans I knew wanted to see, was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
