Looks like all those early concerns about whether name stars would walk the picket line ended up being a waste of energy: a strike captain on Saturday recognized Day 100 of the SAG-AFTRA strike by calling out many of the big names who joined the rank and file in those daily protests.
“Instead of talking about who is not on the picket line, let’s celebrate the name talent who have been showing up,” wrote Chelsea Schwartz, who encouraged her followers to add to her thread.
Among those she singled out were Chris Pine, Jennifer Garner, Timothy Olyphant, Mandy Moore, Ben Schwartz, Nick Offerman, Ming-Na Wen, Sam Elliott, Jack Black, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Margot Robbie, Jon Cryer, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Jennifer Grey, Clarke Gregg, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rhys Darby, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Deschanel, Sterling K Brown, Ben Barnes, Jack Quaid, Robert Pine, Raegan Revord, Tate Donovan,...

Slasher movies have been around for decades, and they excel because you have a group of people stalked by a killer, only to have the story end within 90 minutes.
Slashers on TV take things in a different direction, with the story being told over a longer arc.
That doesn't always work, but some slashers have delivered on their promise.
Because we're TV Fanatics, we've rounded up some of the best slashers to hit the small screen.
Check them out below.
Slasher
Slasher has had many homes during its time on the small screen.
It started its life on Chiller before moving to Netflix and currently airs on Shudder, where it enjoys continued success.
It promised lots of death and questions about the killer's identity.
It lived up to that promise.
However, we'd be remiss if we didn't recommend the original season and Guilty Party.

Larry Wilmore says “finally.” Greg Grunberg says “Mazel tov! Writers Strike Deal!!!”
Bill Wolkoff promises not to picket Dancing with the Stars.
The Writers Guild has reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to end its strike after nearly five months, and needless to say — the members have thoughts, lots of happy thoughts. And it’s all spilling out on social media.
Here’s a roundup of their reactions so far:
Billy Ray: “To all my fellow writers— You earned this. You saved our profession. Now let’s continue to stand w the actors. And IATSE. And the Teamsters. And labor everywhere. That’s how we’ll save America.”
Wolkoff: “Day 146. It gives me great pleasure to say we will Not be picketing Dancing With The Stars tomorrow! I really can’t wait to watch the premiere on Tuesday, because we did it!

This article contains spoilers for The Lincoln Lawyer seasons 1 and 2.
It is a tumultuous time in Hollywood currently. The Writer’s Guild of America has now surpassed 100 days of strike action, and SAG-AFTRA is showing solidarity right beside them. Many television and film productions have been put on hiatus, which begs the question – has The Lincoln Lawyer even been renewed at this juncture?
Ted Humphrey, showrunner for the Netflix hit, confirmed that he and his writing team had already been working on a season 3 before the WGA began their strike action. An official renewal has not been announced, and there may be a delay in production for obvious reasons, but chances still look good we’ll see Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and his team again. And thanks to the precedent set by the Mickey Haller book series, we have a good idea of what to expect from season 3.

Editor’s note: One in a series of stories marking the 100th day of the WGA strike.
On day one of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, scribes put their pencils down and hit the pavement at every major studio in Los Angeles. It was May 2 and many were wearing sweaters. Today, 100 days later, they remain as resolute as they began only a little more suntanned as the country faces one of its warmest summers to date.

It’s Day 4 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and Day 77 of the WGA strike.
“Discover the past, live the present and fight the future,” was an apt message from The X-Files‘ 1998 spinoff movie and it’s one that could be applied to the current actors and writers strike.
It seems timely, then, that some of those responsible for writing and starring in the long-running sci-fi hit, were outside Fox as part of an X-Files reunion.
Star David Duchovny told Deadline that there are so many issues to try and get through, particularly AI. “I think the powers that be have a lot on their plate right now with trying to figure out, kicking the can down the road with the AI stuff. What is it capable of? They’re philosophical questions,” he said.
Duchovny also highlighted streaming residuals. “We always worked in a business that rewarded success and didn’t want failure.

In a departure from the first season of The Lincoln Lawyer, Netflix just dropped five episodes of the drama that’s based on the bestselling novels by Michael Connelly, with plans to stream the remaining five on Aug. 3.
Here, co-showrunner and co-creator Ted Humphrey talks about the relative ease at which they were able to split up season 2 — which is based on Connelly’s fourth book in the Lincoln Lawyer series called “The Fifth Witness.” He also talks about the mixed blessing of having his popular series stream during “a state of crisis” in Hollywood.
Deadline Just to refresh everyone’s memory, the Mickey Haller character from Michael Connelly’s books is of Latin heritage, correct? So Matthew McConaughey’s Mick was wrong in the 2011 movie of the same name?

On day 67 of The Writers Guild of America strike, the cast and creatives behind three popular shows joined the picket lines across Los Angeles.

Ugly Betty, based on the hit Spanish-language novela Betty La Fea, aired for four seasons from 2006 to 2010. Striking writers in New York made a bid on Monday to disrupt work on American Horror Story by picketing outside a production facility in Queens where the popular FX series known for its macabre plot lines and star-studded casts is filming season 12.
Members of the WGA East, joined by members of SAG and other supporters of the strike against film and television studios, said they began arriving at Silvercup Studios at 5am, about two hours before members of the stagehands union, Queens-based IATSE Local 52, who then refused to cross the picket line.
The effect on the show, which stars Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian, was unclear. A WGA representative told Deadline that demonstrators caused filming delays on Monday for AHS, but sources close to the production told us that while some crew members were held up briefly at the picket lines, the horror drama never fully stopped production and...

This episode could have easily been titled "Falsely Accused." For the first time since the premiere, the defendant had no knowledge of a crime and was legitimately framed.
These situations happen, and it's a sad reality that people attempt judicial revenge.
In Accused Season 1 Episode 12, Morgan's husband attempted to take away her freedom. She had been living a shell of a life before she left him, and his need for control manifested into this ugly display.
Meaghan Rath played Morgan so beautifully. You could see she was over him from the very first mention of her husband. We had no idea Jason would be a spoiled, temperamental child.
The episode played out as one big tantrum. However, it was far from just child's play. The very nature of their relationship was rooted in toxicity. Their every engagement is wrought with tension, disregard, and annoyance.
Christopher Gorham played Jason as maliciously as he could.

Divorce can be messy, but usually it doesn’t get as bad as it does in the April 11 episode of Accused. Meaghan Rath and Christopher Gorham guest star in “Morgan’s Story.” Rath plays a teacher who, as she’s going through a divorce, is arrested under suspicious circumstances. So what led to that moment? Is there anything she could have done to change what happened? Rath previews the episode and talks about working with Gorham. What stood out to you about the character of Morgan and the story when you read the script? Meaghan Rath: The themes of the episodes are themes that we see a lot, unfortunately, people that are in situations like this. But I responded to Morgan. I felt like I could bring something kind of three-dimensional to her, show a well-rounded person. I like that she isn’t perfect. She’s not a saint. She...

The latest Warner Animated DC feature film adapts the 2000-2001 Elseworlds miniseries Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 13, “A Farewell to Arms.”] If you’re looking forward to Retired Admiral Hollace Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) reuniting with his estranged son Alex, the latest NCIS: Los Angeles episode shows that you should thank his ex-wife Elizabeth (Marilu Henner). When she’s in town — after the exes spend the night together — the two reminisce about when Alex was born, and she recalls Kilbride fighting to stay awake while holding him. At the time, Elizabeth thought he’d always be there for their son. But now, “you let me down, Hollace, but more importantly, you let Alex down, too,” she tells him. She waited to bring it up until she knew he’d changed. “Alex is an adult. He made choices — choices that left no room for me and I tried to help, many times, but he just cut me out of his life,” ...

NCIS: Los Angeles offers a look at who Retired Admiral Hollace Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) is away from the job in the February 26 episode, and honestly, life isn’t much easier, with his ex-wife Elizabeth (Marilu Henner) in town visiting, wanting him to do something he hasn’t in years. We’ve heard very little about Kilbride’s family, but that’s changing as the CBS procedural nears the end. That’s about to change, with Elizabeth hoping to talk him into reconnecting with their son, Alex (Christopher Gorham guest stars this spring). How does that go? Henner raves about her guest spot and working with McRaney below. How are you? Marilu Henner: I’m good. And I’m so excited to be talking about this because I had just the best time working on this with my buddy Gerald McCraney, Mac. I love him so much. We just had the best day.

With NCIS: Los Angeles officially in its endgame, we're getting a deep dive into Kilbride's past.
As previously reported, Marilu Henner is joining the cast of the beloved drama series as Elizabeth, Kilbride's (Gerald McRaney) ex-wife.
The highly-anticipated episode is set to air Sunday, February 26, at 10 p.m.
CBS has also shared some first-look photos, teasing the big arrival.
"When a mystery woman attacks the founder of an AI company, the NCIS team must identify the woman before the next major global conflict ensues," the logline for the shocking hour teases.
"Also, Kilbride's ex-wife, Elizabeth (Marilu Henner), comes to visit and asks him to think about reconnecting with their son."
The above logline states Elizabeth's mission, and it sounds like it will resonate with her ex-husband.
TV Insider reported earlier this month that Christopher Gorham had landed the role of Alex, Kilbride's estranged son.

As opposed to when last we saw him and Gabriela together, Bode is keeping his mouth shut in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek at this week’s Fire Country.
At the end of the Jan. 27 episode, Freddy nudged Bode (played by Max Thieriot) to go check on his gear at the laundry — where Bode found Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) waiting for him. Bode led them into a passionate kiss, but Gabriela broke away to say that they each needed to do some work and become their best selves. Then, once Bode has served his time, they can unwrap the “gift” awaiting them.

NCIS: Los Angeles may be ending in a few months, but we'll be taking a trip down memory lane before that happens.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 13, airing Sunday, February 26, will feature a blast from Kilbride's (Gerald McRaney) past.
We already covered the fact that Marilu Henner will guest-star during the episode as Kilbride's ex-wife, who visits her one-time husband with one goal:
Reconnect with his estranged son, Alex.
Later this season, Alex will appear in the flesh because TV Insider broke the news that Christopher Gorham has been cast as Alex.
Beyond the fact Kilbride will be reuniting with his son during the episode, we don't know what will go down.
CBS confirmed last month that the current season would be the end of the procedural drama series.

It’s a family affair for Retired Admiral Hollace Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) in the remaining episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles. TV Insider has learned exclusively that Christopher Gorham has been cast as Kilbride’s estranged son Alex, for what is being described as “a rocky reunion.” The episode will air in the spring. This comes after Marilu Henner is set to guest star as Kilbride’s ex-wife, who hopes he’ll reconnect with their son, in the February 26 episode; she will not be in Gorham’s episode. It was in Season 13 that Kilbride, in talking to Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) about the challenges the investigator and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) faced trying to become foster parents (which they would be by the finale), shared a bit about his family. “I have dedicated my life to the Navy, and I am proud of the career I’ve had. The Lincoln Lawyer started its life at CBS, but the network ultimately decided against bringing the series to life.
Netflix swooped in to save the day, and it sounds like the move has been a success for the streaming service.
The legal drama launched at No.2 on the Netflix Weekly streaming rankings last week, and it moved up to the top spot this week.
The series emerged as the most-watched English-language drama series globally for the week of May 16-22, with over 109 million hours viewed.
These numbers are excellent, but the true test will be in whether the series can keep up the pace in the coming weeks.
We've seen many Netflix shows make splashy premieres, only to fall out of the top 10 quickly.
If the series continues to hold up, we should get a renewal.

Chris Gorham and Becki Newton revived their Ugly Betty characters Henry Grubstick and Amanda Tanen, respectively, for a couple of silly skits while working on the set of their new series, Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer.

A new Daredevil series is in development at Disney+, with Covert Affairs creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached to write and executive produce, sources confirmed to Deadline.
Fans have been wanting a new Daredevil series since Netflix’s Daredevil was canceled in 2018 after three seasons. Talk has ramped up recently following the appearance of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) in Spider-Man: No Way Home and main antagonist Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) in Disney+ series Hawkeye. Also adding to the project’s momentum was the recent move of all Marvel Netflix series, including Daredevil, to Disney+.
Marvel Studios does not comment on projects in development.
Corman and Ord co-created and executive produced USA Network series Covert Affairs, starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham. They most recently served as executive producers and co-showrunners on NBC drama series The Enemy Within and The Brave, and The CW series Containment.
Variety was first to report the project.

A new “Daredevil” series is moving forward at Disney+, with Variety having exclusively learned from sources that Matt Corman and Chris Ord are attached to write and executive produce.
Rumors have persisted for some time that a Disney+ series about the Man Without Fear was in the works, especially considering that two of the stars of the Netflix “Daredevil” series — Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio — have appeared in recent Marvel projects. Cox once again played Matt Murdock, the secret identity of Daredevil, in the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” while D’Onofrio reprised the role of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”
It now appears that the project is picking up steam with the hiring of Corman and Ord, although Marvel has yet to announce anything regarding the show formally.
Reps for Corman and Ord declined to comment. Marvel Studios reps do not comment on projects in development.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Season 1 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” on Netflix.)
For Netflix’s adaptation of “The Lincoln Lawyer,” Christopher Gorham plays charismatic tech mogul Trevor Elliot, who is accused of murdering his wife and her lover. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey Haller inherits the case from another attorney after that attorney is found dead in a parking garage.
The series is based on the novels by Michael Connelly, and this season follows the story of the second book, “The Brass Verdict.” Now, if you know what that means (or you read the book), then you probably already figured out the end of the tale.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 1.] If you’ve read The Brass Verdict, Michael Connelly’s book on which the Netflix series’ first season is based, you have a pretty good idea of what happens and how it ends. But that doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining to watch. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Mickey Haller, who prefers to run his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln instead of the office he inherits following a colleague’s death. Mickey also ends up with the other lawyer’s clients, including video game mogul Trevor Elliott (Christopher Gorham), who’s accused of murdering his wife and her lover. (He’s guilty.) The jury finds him not guilty — there is some tampering involved — but Trevor makes the mistake of thinking that means he’s free and not thinking about those he hurt by killing his wife’s lover, which leads to his...

“The Lincoln Lawyer” is not the type of show that Netflix is usually known for. Converting bestselling mass-market book series into serialized TV is a niche that competitor Amazon has thus far owned — they already have two “Bosch” series centered around another character created by “Lincoln Lawyer” novelist Michael Connelly, the ongoing “Jack Ryan” as well as fellow book-turned-early-2010s-movie-turned-show “Reacher.” On top of that, this “Lincoln Lawyer” series was originally developed for CBS before Covid-19 delays and dissatisfaction with the pilot landed the show at Netflix. It’s even guided by an old network TV pro: David E. Kelley, known for his work on legal shows like “L.A. Law,” “Ally McBeal,” and “The Practice,” among others.
None of this is necessarily a bad thing. In fact, a lot of Netflix shows could use the discipline of old-fashioned network programming, and in that sense “The Lincoln Lawyer” combines the best...

This The Lincoln Lawyer review is spoiler free and is based off of the first full season.
The opening episode of The Lincoln Lawyer sets the tone for the series right away. We see Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), fresh out of a stint in rehab, getting hounded by his assistant/ex-wife Lorna (Becki Newton) to get down to the courthouse because he has a big meeting with Mary Holder (LisaGay Hamilton), the senior judge of Los Angeles County. He’s not prepared for the meeting, doesn’t know what it’s about, but he takes it because he has no other choice and Mickey Haller is smart enough and quick enough to land on his feet no matter what gets thrown at him.

The ethics of being a defense attorney aren’t so black and white. So, how does “The Lincoln Lawyer” grapple with defending someone he knows is guilty?
The TV series adaptation of the books by superstar crime fiction author Michael Connelly follows Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as lawyer Mickey Haller, who runs his practice out of a vintage Lincoln Town Car (hence the title).
In this clip from the upcoming Netflix series, exclusive to TheWrap, Garcia-Rulfo’s Haller explains to his daughter Hayley (Krista Warner) that he truly believes everyone deserves the right to a fair trial.
“Everyone deserves a defense, Hayley,” he says.
Like father like daughter, she is quick to push back on that, asking him: “Where do you draw the line? Do you have a line?”
And he does. For example, he tells her, he won’t represent anyone who has hurt a child. But the answer isn’t...
