As we told you all week, the resurrected Rust returned to filmming today in Montana at the Yellowstone Film Ranch.
Call it coincidence, but production resumes on the western just as the state of New Mexico officially drops involuntary manslaughter charges against producer and star Alec Baldwin.

The production has touted the addition of new crew members including Safety Officers Gary Jensen and Paul Jordan (Tenet Production Safety), EP/LP Stephen Marinaccio (Jack Ryan), and Production Designer Christine Brandt (Card Counter).
Returning Rust filmmaker Joel Souza, who was injured in the shoulder from the discharged prop gun that Baldwin was holding back in October 2021, said in statement “Though bittersweet, I am grateful that a brilliant and dedicated new production team is joining former cast and crew to complete what Halyna and I started. My every effort on this film will be devoted to honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud.

Rust, the Western starring Alec Baldwin struck by tragedy when cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot on set, will resume production this spring. A documentary about Hutchins will be made alongside the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, several members of the original Rust crew will return to complete the production, including director Joel Souza, who was also injured during the shooting. There will be some new faces joining the production: Bianca Cline (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) will be the film’s new cinematographer, and she plans to donate her salary to charity.
The production resumes after the crew reached a settlement with Hutchin’s widower, Matthew Hutchins, who now serves as executive producer. The agreement also offers Hutchins and the couple’s son an insurance payout, as well as a portion of Rust’s profits.

Rust, the embattled Western on which cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed by a prop gun fired by Alec Baldwin on October 2021, is aiming for a Spring return to production. Despite the project’s ongoing legal battles, Rust Movie Productions is about to welcome cinematographer Bianca Cline to the set. Cline’s recent work on Marcel the Shell With Shoes On turned plenty of heads upon release, paving the way for Cline to accept high-profile work. Rust remains in the shadow of Hutchins’ tragic death. Still, Rust is one of the most talked-about movies in production. People say all press is good, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to Baldwin’s Rust movie.
To combat the ill-tidings of Rust resuming production, the film’s producers said Cline would donate her salary to charity in honor of the dearly departed Hutchins.
Rust director Joel Saouza and original crew members will also return to the set.

Rust will resume filming this spring with a mix of new and old crewmembers, including embattled star and producer Alec Baldwin, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The plans from the production to finish the film come amid the prosecution of Baldwin for manslaughter, multiple lawsuits from former members of the crew against the movie’s producers and an investigation into alleged systemic safety issues on set.
Bianca Cline (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, American Horror Story) will join the film as its cinematographer in Halyna Hutchins’ stead, according to Rust Movie Productions. A documentary on Hutchins’ life, including her work on Rust, spearheaded by director Rachel Mason and producer Julee Metz, will also commence shooting with the “full support” of the production and Halyna Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, who will serve as an executive producer on both titles.

An actor filed a grievance on Tuesday accusing Allan Graf, the stunt coordinator on “Rust,” of engaging in unsafe practices involving firearms on the set of a different Western film two months ago.
Shawn-Caulin Young worked on “Dead for a Dollar,” which was filmed in New Mexico in August and was directed by Walter Hill. Young alleges that while positioned off-camera, he was repeatedly hit in the face with small shrapnel and gunpowder debris. Graf was serving as the both the stunt coordinator for that film and is also listed on IMDb as its second unit director.
Young filed the complaint with SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents actors. In an interview, he told Variety that he decided to come forward after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by a live round on the set of “Rust” near Santa Fe last week.

Contrary to what the bright stadium lights and flashes of pigskin would indicate, When the Game Stands Tall is not a movie about football. Yes, the film is centered on a team of gridiron giants, the De La Salle Spartans, and the coach that led them on a remarkable 151 game winning streak. But as protagonist Bob Ladouceur makes clear early and often in the film, When the Game Stands Tall doesn’t care about a scoreboard. “Getting these wins is nothing. Teaching these boys there’s more to life is hard,” he tells a reporter during the prologue, as he marches his team onto the field for win number 151, which crowns their 2003 season with a championship.
But, come on: no sports movie is really just about the sport, right? The game is just a metaphor for overcoming adversity, the triumph of the human spirit, etc., etc. Thing is, When the Game Stands Tall...

The new NBC show “Revolution” has J.J. Abrams’ name all over it, but don’t let that fool ya. “Revolution” is from “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke, and I won’t even bother speculating how much creative input Abrams actually had besides attaching his name as a producer to make advertising the show easier. Kinda like Steven Spielberg and TNT’s “Falling Skies”. The show is about a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where the all forms of energy have mysteriously disappeared. Not a bad premise, huh? NBC has already greenlit the show to series, so look for it later this year. Until then, the network has released some promo images from the upcoming first season. Starring David Lyons, Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Burke, Andrea Roth, Tim Guinee, Jd Pardo, Jeff Wolfe, Tracy Spiridakos, Zak Orth, Allan Graf, Maria Howell, Graham Rogers, and Anna Lise Phillips.

Hollywood films have always been rife with images of the disabled, frequently casting them as misunderstood pariahs, idiot henchmen, or occasionally malevolent geniuses, filled with wrath at their despised place in the world. But rarely is there anything like Johnny Handsome, a film which deftly avoids making any sort of statement about disability by avoiding making a statement on virtually anything at all, shoehorning its sarcastically named title character into a plot so conventional it’s virtually weightless. In fact, were it not for Mickey Rourke spending half of the movie looking like a grilled cheese sandwich gone terribly wrong, you probably wouldn’t give it a second thought. But the effect of his makeup is so strange, and so belabored upon, that you can’t help but feel that there’s some considerable distance between the intended and the achieved effect, and wonder exactly what the intended effect was.

Friday Night Lights second unit director Allan Graf has signed on to direct Turning the Tide for Gerald Molen's Whitelight Entertainment. Graf co-wrote the project with John Ledesma based on a story by John Papadakis. It centers on the Sept. 12, 1970, college football showdown between the all-white Alabama Crimson Tide -- led by the legendary Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant -- and the integrated USC Trojans. The September 2004 50th anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated ranked the game as No. 6 in the "20 Most Important Moments in Sports." Graf, a USC football player at the time, said this story is a fitting transition for his first outing as a director. "My experience at USC with Coach John McKay was extremely important to me," Graf said. "To be able to bring this amazing part of that experience to a worldwide audience will be phenomenal. I was there, I lived it, and I'm very excited to have the support of the university behind us. This is a story that has to be told." WhiteLight Entertainment will produce in conjunction with Johnny Martin of Martini Films. Graf is repped by David G. Dizenfeld.
