And the Oscars go to … the Mat-Towercam Twin Peek, the Biscuit Jr., the Mova Facial Performance Capture System, the Ilm PhysBAM Destruction System and the early conceptualization of sparse-tiled voxel data structures.

Every parent may say at some point, "My kid could be famous!" But it's not that easy.
Your kid may be a natural extrovert, and be bursting with confidence. But you need time and money to develop that talent. Headshots cost anywhere between $200 to $1000 dollars. An agent gets 10 percent of your paycheck. And acting classes are about $275 a month.

An unexpected turn of events Thursday night took everyone by surprise on American Idol, when the final five contestants had the option to vote for everyone to stay one more week or have another singer go home as usual. Ultimately, Alex Preston and Jena Irene voted against the twist, and after being saved already by the judges earlier this season, Sam Woolf missed an opportunity to be saved again and was eliminated. EW talked to Woolf after the twist:
Entertainment Weekly: You were already saved, and now this wacky night. How are you processing all this?
Sam Woolf: I think pretty well.

American Idol’s top seven singers squared off on Wednesday night, singing songs selected for them by the fellow singers trying for a chance to be crowned the next Idol winner, as Demi Lovato joined Randy Jackson and judges Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban in offering them advice.
American Idol Recap
Rocker Caleb Johnson was first up on stage, singing Kings of Leon track “Family Tree,” which Alex Preston had selected for him. The song perfectly suited Johnson, who’s become known on the show for making the songs he takes on his own – and “Family Tree” was no exception. All of the judges were in agreement that he knocked another performance out of the park.
Singing Miranda Lambert’s “Gunpowder and Lead,” selected by Sam Woolf, Jessica Meuse tried to apply some of the judges' suggestions. Instead of solely focusing on her pitch and how on-key she was,...

American Idol was looking to whittle down the playing field to the top seven singers Thursday, but a save from the judges kept the talent at eight following the “Audition” performances on Wednesday.
American Idol Recap
Judge-turned-mentor Randy Jackson revealed at the start of Thursday’s half-hour elimination show that Jena Irene, Jess Meuse, Caleb Johnson and Dexter Roberts would most certainly be voted through to the next round. Jackson was proven right, as all four – plus Alex Preston – were told they were safe. In the bottom three were Malaya Watson, Cj Harris and Sam Woolf.
Ultimately, it was Woolf, the 17-year-old crooner from Florida, who failed to get enough votes from America. For a chance at the season’s lone save, Woolf offered a soothing rendition of David Gray’s “Babylon.” Exuding a bit more confidence and composure, Woolf managed to impress Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban...

The Top 8 all gave strong performances Wednesday of the songs they first auditioned with in front of judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr. and Keith Urban, but three contestants still had to be placed in the bottom 3 by host Ryan Seacrest. This week the unlucky three were Malaya Watson, Sam Woolf and C.J. Harris. With the lowest number of votes and required to...

Ariel Winter is focusing on the positive things from the past year and half ... instead of the negative.
The "Modern Family" star dealt with some harsh family drama in 2012 -- she went to live with her older sister, Shanelle Gray, and her brother-in-law, David Gray, after conflicts with her mother -- and took to Instagram to share her thanks to her "amazing family."
"I am so lucky to be a part of this amazing family. It's been about a year and a half and at the same time, been the best year and a half of my life," Winter writes. "I love them more than I could ever describe and they've shown me more love than I ever thought was possible. They've each given me something incredible to carry with me for the rest of my life. They've taught me how to love unconditionally, how to give, how to forgive,...

Photo: Juergen Specht The collection includes a few locations we've featured here before (most notably the post-Katrina ruins of Six Flags New Orleans), as well as some nightmarish spots you may have missed, like Ohio's Chippewa Lake Park, Beijing's Wonderland, South Korea’s Okpo Land, or American Adventure Park in Derbyshire, UK. Like New Orleans, or Pripyat park near Chernobyl, many of these parks were shut down due to regional disasters (natural or otherwise), while others were the sites of fatal accidents, which led to their closing for safety reasons. Matt Henry has finished fourth in tonight's (June 22) Voice UK final.
The Team Jessie singer was announced as the act with the lowest amount of public votes when lines were frozen after each finalist had performed twice.
Earlier in the evening, Henry performed a rendition of David Gray's 'Babylon' and also duetted with mentor Jessie J on a cover of 'Never Too Much'.
Jessie J was visibly shocked by Henry's exit and insisted that viewers must always vote for the act that delivers on stage.
will.i.am joined Henry on stage to add that his mind was "discombobulated" by the result of the viewers' vote.
Mike Ward, Andrea Begley and Leah McFall are still in contention to win the 2013 series and secure themselves a recording contract.

The seaside resort of Dunoon is a thin strip of town between the Firth of Clyde and the hills of the Cowal peninsula. It sits just south of the Holy Loch. During the Cold War Dunoon prospered, serving the Us naval base that was situated there but it fell on hard times when the Americans pulled out in 1992. The Americans did leave their marks on the town. One of these is the blue painted, corrugated iron Studio Cinema which nestles anachronistically on John Street between whitewashed buildings.
Over the years Dunoon has attracted more than its fair share of artists and musicians. The Queen's Hall has played host to many popular acts, from David Gray to Primal Scream. The town used to hold an annual Jazz festival. And now, for the first time, it is to have a film festival.
The festival was launched in the Burgh Hall in Dunoon with.

Atlantic City, New Jersey — For the first stop on its traveling roadshow, the Dave Matthews Band Caravan brought a rootsy collection of friends to dusty Bader Field on Friday. And even after a career-spanning set that included "Don't Drink the Water," "Satellite" and "Why I Am," Dmb still have plenty of hits to draw from for the next two headlining performances of their inaugural three-day festival.
Matthews gave nods to almost all of the day's supporting acts, mentioning Delta Spirit, Carolina Chocolate Drops and The Head & The Heart, and saying, "It was a pleasure to share the stage with Ray Lamontagne." David Ryan Harris, who played Friday afternoon, joined the band for perennial crowd favorite "Jimi Thing" from their 1994 debut, Under the Table and Dreaming.
