Stephen King took 1,138 pages to tell the story of “It,” his 1986 horror classic about an evil clown called Pennywise who torments a group of children in Maine. But director Andy Muschietti always seems pressed for time, both in his 2017 adaptation of the first quarter or so of “It” and now in this far more expansive sequel, which runs nearly three hours.
“It Chapter Two” is a much grander project than the first film, for it encompasses the main characters as both children and adults. The main problem with the initial movie was that Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise was too much a special effect and too little a taunting and evil human in clown makeup, but in “It Chapter Two,” Skarsgård is allowed to make much more of a contribution.

While some folks may allege that 2017’s big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s It made them pee their pants, it seems like they sure didn’t care because that flick raked in obscene amounts of money normally unheard of in the horror genre. That said, we’re likewise expecting for the upcoming It: Chapter Two to be an enormous success.
Now, I’m sure you’ve probably heard about how some actors won’t watch their own movies for a variety of reasons, but one in particular thinks she may find Pennywise’s onscreen exploits to be too intense. Though I’m sure what she had to say may have been partly in jest, those who are involved in the production are privy to information the rest of us are not.

It’s the beginning of the end for Angus Stewart (Richard Dreyfuss). His wife recently passed after a difficult and costly bout with dementia, his heart isn’t what it used to be, and his family is unsure about what to do to help him adjust. While his daughter Molly (Krista Bridges) and grandson Barney (Richie Lawrence) want him to move in, his son-in-law Jim (Lyriq Bent) can’t help wondering if enduring the strain of another aging parent on a daily basis isn’t good for his wife’s health. Angus will honestly agree to whatever course of action they decide because he knows the inevitable burden being in their house creates whether they’d admit it or not. As long as he can still look up at the stars, he’ll live anywhere.
So of course he grows giddy with excitement when writer/director Shelagh McLeod gives him...
