Jonny Greenwood is laughing at your luxury vacation TikToks. In a recent profile in The Guardian, the Radiohead guitarist and film score composer dug into some of his current influences, his most important collaborations, and why setting images of beautiful resorts and moments of wistfulness against his “Phantom Thread” score feels kind of funny.
“That’s hilarious!” said Greenwood when told by The Guardian about a recent trend featuring his glorious “House of Woodcock” piece being used for TikTok videos and Instagram memes. “It was written without guile. It’s not supposed to be a pastiche – those soaring strings are unashamedly beautiful, and one can’t help but find the music very affecting. Although even saying this makes me feel terribly pink and stiff and English.”
That traditional perception of English stiffness is something Greenwood has worked a great deal to avoid in his work despite having incredibly formal musical training.

File this evergreen headline under “no alarms and no surprises.” After working together on There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice, Junun, Phantom Thread, and Licorice Pizza, Jonny Greenwood has confirmed he’s already started to work on the score for the next feature from Paul Thomas Anderson.
“I’m incredibly lucky that Paul indulges me and gives me so much time to experiment and compose,” Greenwood tells The Guardian. “That’s not usually the case in Hollywood, where the soundtrack writers are often very far down the food chain, and are sometimes given only a couple of days to bash out a complete score.”
This will mark the first time a Greenwood score will be heard in IMAX theaters as PTA’s currently untitled film has been set for an August 8, 2025 wide release from WB. With a cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris,...

It was announced two weeks ago that Paramount is resurrecting the Scary Movie spoof franchise with a brand new reboot movie, which will likely arrive in theaters next year.
The new movie, a joint venture between Paramount and Miramax that will technically be the sixth installment in the franchise, is expected to go into production this coming Fall.
We don’t yet know who will be writing, directing or starring in the Scary Movie reboot, but two actors in particular have already expressed an interest in joining the franchise.
The first is Melissa Barrera, who can currently be seen in theaters in Radio Silence’s bloody horror movie Abigail. Barrera is of course also the star of Scream and Scream VI, which kind of makes her a perfect candidate to lampoon herself in a Scary Movie reboot.

Melissa Barrera had the lead role of Samantha Carpenter in the 2022 Scream film and its follow-up Scream VI, and she was all set to reprise the role in Scream 7… until she was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass Media. Now Barrera, who can currently be seen on the big screen in the vampire movie Abigail, has revealed that she’s interested in doing something no other major Scream star has done before: she would like to cross over into the Scary Movie parody franchise, which got started with a movie that used the first Scream as a major source of inspiration, by landing a role in the recently announced Scary Movie 6.

According to Zack Snyder, one of the most significant Dceu storylines seems to have originated from none other than Oscar-winning star Leonardo DiCaprio. The 49-year-old actor was once considered for the role of Lex Luthor, Superman’s greatest enemy. In an exclusive interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the director disclosed that he had a meeting with the Titanic star to discuss the role in his 2016 superhero flick, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
However, Jesse Eisenberg ultimately won the role. Snyder also recalled that DiCaprio came up with the plan to pit Henry Cavill’s Superman against the Justice League. Sadly, the Dceu timeline came to an end in 2023 (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), capping ten years of superhero films that started with Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013).

The Scary Movie franchise — which parodied popular horror films like Scream and The Ring — is getting a reboot.
The horror-comedy spoof series began with the titular Scary Movie in 2000, and now, it’ll be resurrected by Paramount Pictures and Fast & Furious producer Neil H. Morris. Per Variety, Paramount is also partnering on the film with Miramax, the studio behind the original Scary Movie franchise.
The new film is slated to go into production in the fall of 2024, and will land in theaters in 2025. The original series spawned five films, four of which starred Anna Faris and Regina Hall. The first two films were directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, with spoof-titan David Zucker directing the third and fourth installments. The final Scary Movie film arrived in 2013 — meaning the new reboot will have 11 years-worth of popular horror films to parody.

It's been more than 10 years since the world was subjected to the last "Scary Movie" sequel, but as is the case with any famous horror movie villain, it's practically impossible to keep this series down forever. And now Paramount Pictures plans to breathe new life into this particular franchise. The studio will be teaming up with Miramax to resurrect the "Scary Movie" franchise with a brand new installment. Production begins this fall, and the film will be in theaters in 2025.
Variety reports that producer Neal H. Moritz, who is best known for producing the "Fast and Furious" movies for Universal, will be producing this new iteration. Washington, D.C. — Kevin Hart was feted Sunday with the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize in a traditionally raucous affair that drew praise and flak in equal measure from a handful of comedic colleagues on hand for the occasion. The ceremony will air later this year on Netflix as part of the streamer’s multiyear deal with the Kennedy Center event.
Previous Twain honoree Dave Chappelle was on hand to salute the multifaceted entertainer whose standup comedic talents are matched by his prowess as film actor, producer, restauranteur and beverage magnate. So was Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Tiffany Haddish, among other friends and fellow comedians.
That extensive resume was ample grist for colleagues who trooped onto the Center’s Concert Hall stage as Hart and his family sat in a nearby box. The show concluded with the presentation of the award, a miniature Twain bust, by Kennedy Center chairman David Rubenstein.

As Kevin Hart sat in the audience with family and friends for The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize, there were many jokes about his height, quips about his wealth and jabs at his productivity.
What there was very little of was anything political, reflecting Hart’s own style that tends to avoid such topical humor.
Chris Rock did have one moment, though.
“The Mark Twain Award this year. If Trump wins, next year will be the Mark Fuhrman award,” Rock said.
As the audience laughed, Rock added, “It’s going to be nothing but banjos up there.”
He also was among the comics who did a bit of roasting of Hart. “Look at that smile,” Rock said. “You got that second wife happiness.” Hart, surrounded by his wife and kids, laughed.

When Sabrina Morrissey, the guardian of the former talk show host tried to prevent Lifetime from airing it, she lost, and it premiered as planned. In fact, the ratings from the show that aired on February 24 and 25 were excellent.
Where Is Wendy Williams? Aired But It Was Disturbing
An initial court order seemed promising for the guardian but it was overturned. Many people believed that she only decided against it because it showed her in a poor light. However, the court-appointed guardian also felt that A & E Networks only showed the bad side of the former star’s life, making it a “cruel’ documentary on Lifetime.

Pinky Promise Films founder and CEO Jessamine Burgum and president Kara Durrett forego a formula, recipe or expectations of the end result when they choose who to work with on their films.
Burgum founded the production company during the 2020 Covid pandemic and gravitated toward Durrett while working together as a financier and producer on 2021’s well-received indie, “Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul.” from director Adamma Ebo and starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown.

Netflix has become the latest home for the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The show will also feature Dave Burd aka Lil Dicky, Dave Chappelle, Jimmy Fallon, Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Chelsea Handler, Nelly, The Plastic Cup Boyz, Keith Robinson, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and J.B. Smoove.

Across his nine features thus far, Paul Thomas Anderson has never had a prime summer release, but that is about to change when it comes to his currently untitled, maybe Vineland tenth feature. With production still underway across California with the cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Alana Haim, and Chase Infiniti, Warner Bros. has now set an August 8, 2025 wide release, including an IMAX run, for what they describe as an “event film.”
It’s not the first time the director’s work has been seen on an IMAX screen as his Thom Yorke collaboration Anima received a limited run in the format. Though no IMAX cameras have been spotted on set thus far, VistaVision cameras have been seen shooting in 35mm, which should look gorgeous if 70mm prints are made. The director also used VistaVision for Anima in 2019, which likely doubled as a test for this new feature,...

Of the 19.5 million people who tuned into the Oscars on Sunday, 60.3 percent were female, according to Nielsen. While women (and girls age 2+) made up the significant majority of the audience for the 96th Academy Awards (as per usual), it was their lowest percentage since 2016 (58.4 percent female). Yes, even with “Barbie” in the (Dream)house.
Last year’s Academy Awards, also hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, were watched by 18.8 million viewers; 61.1 percent of them were female. The 2022 Oscars, hosted by three women — Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, Amy Schumer — skewed 61.0 percent female. The host-less 2021 program skewed 62.7 percent female; those were the first Covid-impacted Oscars and they settled for all-time low viewership.
The 2021 Oscars remain the high-water mark for representation among nominees, according to the annual study by USC’s Dr. Stacy L. Smith, the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, and Adobe Foundation. “Nomadland” won Best Picture that year, Best Actress for Frances McDormand, and Best Director for Chloé Zhao.

The next Paul Thomas Anderson movie has a release date.
While announcing several calendar placements for its upcoming theatrical slate, Warner Bros. revealed on Tuesday that Anderson’s untitled project starring Leonardo DiCaprio will arrive in theaters (including IMAX venues) on August 8, 2025.
Little is officially known about Anderson’s new movie, other than its cast: DiCaprio, Sean Penn, “Licorice Pizza” breakout Alana Haim, “A Thousand and One” star Teyana Taylor, and Regina Hall. Unofficially, however, the film has a reported budget north of $115 million, according to Variety. There has also been broad and unconfirmed speculation that the untitled feature is at least partially inspired or based on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel “Vineland.” That book was set in the mid-1980s, although it’s unclear if Anderson’s potential take on the material would follow its same timeline. (Anderson previously adapted Pynchon’s “Inherent Vice” for the big screen.)

Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film doesn’t yet have a title, but it does have a release date, and it will even open in IMAX theaters.
Warner Bros. has dated the untitled PTA movie for a release on August 8, 2025. The movie officially stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Alana Haim, and Chase Infiniti.
Anderson is writing, directing, and producing the film, now his 10th narrative feature, with Sara Murphy and Adam Somner also producing.
Warner Bros. is calling PTA’s next movie an “event film,” and its release plans on IMAX are a coup for the director and the studio. Little else is known about it, as Anderson loves working in secrecy, but the film is said to be contemporary in its setting, and it’s felt to be his most “commercial” project to date. The film is currently in production in California.

Warner Bros has pushed Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II starring Robert Pattinson back a year from October 3, 2025, to October 2, 2026, and set Paul Thomas Anderson’s crime tale starring Leonard DiCaprio for August 8, 2025.
It is understood the date change for The Batman Part II stems from the Hollywood strikes, which halted and severely disrupted studio production for close to six months last year.
The sequel to Reeves’ 2022 $772.2m global hit steers clear of DC Studios co-head James Gunn’s Superman on July 11, 2025, which will be the first film on release from the restructured division.

Robert Pattinson is delaying his return to Gotham.
The gritty comic book sequel “The Batman Part II,” in which the actor will play the Caped Crusader again, has been postponed a year. It will debut in theaters on Oct. 2, 2026 instead of its original date of Oct. 3, 2025.
In addition to the move, Warner Bros., the studio behind the superhero tentpole, has shuffled around other titles on its release calendar. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride,” starring Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley and Peter Sarsgaard, will take “The Batman” sequel’s old spot on Oct. 3, 2025. And “Alto Knights,” a mob drama starring two Robert De Niros, has relocated from Nov. 15, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

The Batman Part II is flying off to a new date. The film will now open Oct. 2, 2026. That’s back a full year from its previous date.
Batman 2 wasn’t the only notable change made to Warner Bros. release calendar on Tuesday: The Maggie Gyllenhaal-directed The Bride!, starring Christian Bale, will take Batman 2‘s old date of Oct. 3, 2025; Barry Levinson’s gangster pic Alto Nights is being delayed from Nov. 24, 2024, to March 21, 2025; and Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled, star-studded event pic has landed an Aug. 8, 2025, release date. Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 is no longer opening on October 3, 2025 — a new launchpad for comic book movies. Instead, it is going a year later on October, 2, 2026. We hear the new date is due to the aftermath of the dual strikes.
The spacing also will give some distance from James Gunn’s Superman, which is hitting cinemas on July 11, 2025. That film will kick off Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Studios, the first phase titled “Gods and Monsters.”
Reeves’ Batman is not part of the Gunn universe, but it’s all kosher to co-exist. Gunn has another Batman movie in the works, Batman: Brave and the Bold, with Andy Muschietti directing. Robert Pattinson plays Batman in Reeves’ universe. The role will be recast for Muschietti’s film.

The Motion Picture & Television Fund raised more than $4.3 million at its 22nd annual star-studded benefit on Saturday night.
The exclusive event was co-chaired by Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathé, America Ferrera and Ryan Piers-Williams, Jodie Foster and Paul Giamatti.
Funds raised from the event will be used to support industry members and their families who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services, such as financial assistance, crisis counseling, caregiving support and residency on the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, which now serves as “home” to many television and film veterans. During the recent work stoppages, MPTF received over 13,000 calls for aid and provided more than $8 million in charitable financial assistance.
“MPTF and I have such a rich, wonderful history together of taking care of our own,” said Foster. “I’m so proud to support this incredible organization and help raise crucial funds to support our industry family when they need it most.

Life has been a movie for Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe, who found their match in each other back during their freshman year after making it to the play Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. However, the road ahead was far from smooth for the two teens, as the This Is Us actors would share an on-and-off bond throughout their college years.
However, the biggest obstacle they faced came up for a pretty crazy reason. Bathe recalled that her mother and grandmother predicted that the Primetime Emmy Winner was up to no good.

The first time Jimmy Kimmel showed up at the Oscars, he didn’t have a ticket. It was the mid-1990s, back when he was on Kroq’s “Kevin & Bean” morning drive-time show, and he and host Kevin Ryder decided to sneak into the Academy Awards Governors Ball.
“I remember us getting there 9 o’clock in the morning in tuxedos,” Kimmel recalls. “We figured that if we hung around long enough, it would seem like we belonged there. But then moments before the guests began to arrive, they kicked us right out.”
Their mistake was claiming they were guests of Gil Cates — just a name they saw in the Oscars credits, but actually the longtime Academy Awards executive producer. Still, Kimmel and Ryder slipped back in — and then had a glorious evening. “The only thing I really remember from that night is we told John Travolta that we snuck in...

Roger Ebert’s Film Festival, also known as Ebertfest, is celebrating its 25th anniversary by hosting screenings of Bob Fosse’s most polarizing film and one of Malcolm D. Lee’s most beloved movies.
The annual celebration of movies, which is named for the famous critic, will run April 17 to April 20 at the historic Virginia Theatre in Champaign, Ill. It will kick off with an opening night screening of Fosse’s “Star 80,” a look at the life and brutal murder of Playboy model Dorothy Stratten that divided reviewers when it opened in 1983, with some seeing it as as exploitative and others believing it was a masterpiece. Ebert was certainly in the latter camp, praising the film with a glowing four-star review, calling it “an important movie…Devastating, violent, hopeless, and important, because it holds a mirror up to a part of the world we live in, and helps us see it more clearly.

It appears that Robert Pattinson’s much-awaited project, Mickey 17, has gotten the short end of the stick due to Warner Bros.’ massive gamble on Leonardo DiCaprio’s next flick. The Titanic star, 49, will be helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson in an untitled movie that is scheduled to start shooting in California this year. Even so, we can’t help but wonder if sidelining Pattinson’s flick was a wise choice in this regard.
Pattinson, best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga, has been carving out a niche for himself as a talented and versatile actor over the last few years. His performances in films such as The Lighthouse and Good Time received critical acclaim, so it is no surprise that fans are looking forward to this upcoming sci-fi film.

Exclusive: In a highly competitive situation, Warner Bros has landed a deal with writer-director-producer Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan for an untitled new movie based on an original script by Coogler.
The project reunites Coogler and Jordan, who have collaborated on the Creed and Black Panther franchises and first made their mark together on the acclaimed Fruitvale Station. It also marks the second project of Coogler and Jordan’s that Warner Bros Film Group co-chairs and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy have championed, following their greenlight of Creed III during their time at MGM.
Coogler will produce the new film alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian through their production company Proximity Media, with Rebecca Cho executive producing for the company.
Not much is known about the film other that it is a period genre pic and production is expected to start in April.
