Over the years, Nickelback have slowly but surely replaced Creed as the most-hated grunge-lite band around. Hell, they’ve even eclipsed Limp Bizkit as a band folks just love to hate on. That may sound like a controversial, sweeping generalisation, but it’s largely true – just ask most of your friends if they’re Nickelback fans, and you’ll be met with either a smug look, or being forced to listen to them launch into a tirade about how much Chad Kroeger and company suck.
Unfortunately for almost everyone who claims otherwise, Nickelback simply cannot be given the, ‘they suck’ treatment. Again, controversial, right? Not quite – all those people who have lambasted the band over the years are the very same who say, ‘Oh man, I love this song!’, when one of their big hits comes on the radio, or just happens to be included on their iTunes shuffle playlist.

"I wouldn't rap if I knew who my father was..." So begins rapper Thurz in his lyrical journey through soul-sampling "Right Now," produced by Aaron Harris, the newest and first track from the emcee's forthcoming Ep "Designer." It's an intimate turn into the rising hip-hop star's life, after his funky party track "21" and the smooth summer day of "Perfect Words" featuring Kelsey Bulkin. Listen to both below our exclusive premiere of "Right Now" below. "'Right Now' is designer music where I give the listener insight to my upbringing, where I'm at right now, and where I'm taking them," the Inglewood-raised artist said about the track. His "designer music" style is described as "fabric cut from the young, black Los Angeles experience, threads from Belize and the Ivory Coast, and tailor fit to move the world." "Designer," the Ep, will be out on Nov. 4 via Red Bull Sound Select. The seven-song...

I’ll admit I have a soft spot for the scarecrow film. Ever since I was terrified by a TV screening of Dark Night of the Scarecrow back in the 80s, I’ve seen just about every scarecrow-related film going – even those that should probably have never seen the light of day! So of course I Had to see Scarecrow. Even moreso given that it’s (yet another) Canadian genre film and it stars Robin Dunne, an actor whose career I’ve followed ever since I saw him in Cruel Intentions 2 (yes, I liked that film – even more than the original).

And you thought you were cold, shuffling between your apartment (where there is heat and blankets and hot chocolate) and the subway (where you are wearing a coat and mittens and kept warm by the bodies of hundreds of complete strangers!) Try being a 167-foot tall waterfall caught in the Polar Vortex. Niagara Falls is freezing! And we mean that literally. Niagara Falls is literally freezing. The waterfall "partially froze" this past Tuesday, when the Polar Vortex plummeted temperatures to a record -2 degrees and ice began forming on the U.S. side of the falls. These very cool pictures were taken by Reuters photographer Aaron Harris and you would do well to remember that it could always be...

SyFy is getting in the Halloween spirit, programming the "original" film Scarecrow on October 5th. Shallow Ground and Kaw director Sheldon Wilson directs while Rick Suvalle (Roadkill, V.I.P.) writes. Lacey Chabert (Lost in Space, Black Christmas) stars.
The synopsis goes like this... For generations, it was an urban legend that lived in the nightmares of children. Now, the season to rejuvenate the tale will revive a town's darkest fears. With the Scarecrow Festival on the horizon, school teacher Aaron Harris is doling out punishment for six students serving detention, including the moody Tyler, Goth girl Nikki, wrestling team captain Daevon, and straight-a student Jun.
