The race for Best Younger Actress at the Daytime Emmys could be historic thanks to the nomination for Kelley Missal. She is the only acting nominee for "One Life to Live," which makes her the first actor ever nominated for an online soap. And were she to win, she'd also be the first "Oltl" star to win that category. -Break- Follow Gold Derby on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr! I've written before about "Oltl's" misfortunes at the Daytime Emmys. It has won Best Drama Series only once in its history (2002) and been almost completely shut out of acting races, winning a paltry two performance awards since 1996: Best Actress for Erika Slezak (2005) and Susan Haskell (2009). But before its long drought began almost two decades ago, it performed well, winning at least once in five out of the six acting categories – all except Younger Actress. Missal is only the third...'...

For fans of “One Life to Live,” a dream came true this week when it was finally confirmed that Roger Howarth will return to the series after an eight-year absence. Howarth first appeared as Todd Manning in 1992 and was such a success that his minor character became a major player on the show. In 1994, he won Best Younger Actor for showing the darker side of Todd as the ringleader of the rape of Marty Saybrooke (Susan Haskell). In 1995, he contended for Supporting Actor but was bested by Jerry verDorn ("Guiding Light"). Dissatisfied with way his character was written, Howarth left "Oltl" in 2003, moving over to "As the World Turns" where he earned consecutive Best Actor bids in 2004 and 2005, losing first to Anthony Geary ("General Hospital) and then Christian LeBlanc ("The Young and the Restless"). Since 2003, Trevor St. John has done well in the role. It is still a mystery as...

Susan Haskell has been let go from her role as Marty Saybrooke on One Life To Live.
Haskell won Emmys in 1994 and 2009 for her portrayal of the character that was first introduced in 1992. Marty's gang rape story in 1993 is one of the most memorable in the show's history. Amnesiac Marty's relationship with her rapist, Todd, in 2008 helped propel Haskell to her second Emmy win. In the past year, the writing for the character has been very uneven as if the writing team was unsure what to do with the character.
Stay tuned to We Love Soaps for further details in the coming days.

We Love Soaps TV: Why will the fans who miss you on daytime want to see Occupant?

Ellen DeGeneres has lost her crown as the Queen of U.S. daytime TV - the hosts of The View ended her four-year run as Best Talkshow Host at the Daytime Emmy Awards.
The beloved U.S. funnywoman had held on to the prize since 2005, but faltered at the ceremony on Sunday when she came up against The View's feisty foursome Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walters.
But it wasn't all bad for DeGeneres - her daily chatshow pulled back by picking up four awards during the night.
Fellow chatshow hosts Rachael Ray and Tyra Banks also walked away with prizes, winning Best Entertainment and Best Informative programme for the respective TV shows.
U.S. soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful took Best Drama, while Best Actor went to The Young And The Restless' Christian LeBlanc and Susan Haskell, from One Life To Live, was named Best Actress.
Haskell was also celebrating after her show scooped the most awards of the night, tied with All My Children - winning five Emmys in total.
PBS' Sesame Street received the lifetime achievement award in recognition of its 40-year run.
The ceremony was hosted by Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles.

The complete winners of 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are revealed as the show wrapped up on Sunday, August 30 at Los Angeles' Orpheum Theatre. There is no domination apparent in the list, but the highlight of the day was when "The Bold and the Beautiful" finally nabbed the Outstanding Drama Series after years of being nominated under the category.
In its 22 years of running, "Bold and Beautiful" was denied the trophy while others like "General Hospital" and "The Young and the Restless" kept getting multiple wins. This year, "Bold and Beautiful" beat "All My Children" and "Days of Our Lives". Unfortunately, as the crew and cast were about to ascend the stage for acceptance speech, the show went off air from The CW due to over timing.
This is particularly an achievement for showrunner Bradley Bell whose father William J. Bell co-created "Restless". He said backstage, "It's incredibly exciting because...

Matthew "Boidiva02" Cormier believes "Dr. Phil" will finally win its first Daytime Emmy as best chat show, but rival pundit, Crystal "Crystal" Ledig, insists that "The Tyra Banks Show" will be the clear-cut winner. Just as our pundits pick "The Bold and the Beautiful" to win best drama series at the Daytime Emmys on Sunday night (CW network, 8 p.m. Edt/ Pdt), Matthew "Boidiva02" Cormier and Chris "Vivaforever" Benjamin believe it will claim the scribes' race too. Ellen DeGeneres will get the chance to defend her title as America's favourite TV personality after scooping two nominations for this year's Daytime Emmy Awards.
Last year, the comedienne took home the title of Outstanding Talk Show Host, but her star-studded programme The Ellen DeGeneres Show lost out for the first time in the Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment category since its first nomination in 2004.
This time around, she'll face competition for the hosting award from Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa (Live with Regis & Kelly), TV chef Rachael Ray, and The View talk show hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar.
Meanwhile, DeGeneres and her show's producers will face-off against Live with Regis & Kelly and Rachael Ray to take back the Best Show title.
However, veteran actress Susan Lucci has been snubbed from the list of nominees, after missing out in the Lead Dramatic Actress category in favour of All My Children co-star Debbie Morgan. Morgan will go up against Maura West (As the World Turns), Susan Haskell (One Life to Live), Susan Flannery (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Jeanne Cooper (The Young and the Restless).
In the male category, nominees for Outstanding Lead Actors In A Drama include Thorsten Kaye (All My Children), Peter Reckell (Days of Our Lives), Anthony Geary (General Hospital), Daniel Cosgrove (Guiding Light) and Christian LeBlanc (The Young and the Restless).
Supermodel-turned-talk show host Tyra Banks will also have a chance to follow up her 2008 Daytime Emmy with another prize - The Tyra Banks Show is nominated alongside Dr. Phil and new programme The Doctors in the Outstanding Talk Show/Informative category.
PBS' Sesame Street will receive the lifetime achievement award.
The 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, hosted by actress/singer Vanessa Williams, will air on 30 August.
