CBS has given out a pair of pilot orders to comedy projects from Sarah Cooper and Mark Gross.
Cooper’s untitled single-camera project is inspired by her book, “How to be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings.” It follows three women at different stages in their careers at a male-dominated company who help each other navigate modern gender politics in their professional and personal lives.
Cooper will serve as co-writer and executive producer, with Cindy Chupack also co-writing, executive producing, and showrunning. Nina Tassler, Denise Di Novi, and Joan Boorstein of PatMa Productions will also executive produce. CBS Studios will produce. CBS purchased an ownership stake in PatMa in 2019.

CBS has handed pilot orders to two untitled half-hour comedies: one inspired by TikTok star Sarah Cooper’s book How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings, from writer Cindy Chupack and producers Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi; and one based on professional bowler Tom Smallwood’s life, from writer Mark Gross and producers David Hollander and Brian D’Arcy James. Both projects hail from CBS Studios.
They join recently ordered hourlong pilot True Lies, based on the movie, as well as several 2020 pilots from last year that were pushed by the pandemic. The network also has a CSI revival and NCIS and FBI spinoffs in the works.

For seven seasons, Liev Schreiber played the titular role of Ray Donovan on Showtime.
It was canceled without much fanfare, let alone a proper goodbye to the show that scored awards and viewers for the network.
Thankfully, something is going to be done about that.
Despite Schreiber's pleas for an eighth season of the fan-favorite Showtime drama, the request fell on deaf ears, going so far as to end the beloved show on a cliffhanger.
Not surprisingly, it resulted in some serious blowback against the network.
At the time of its cancellation, Showtime's co-head of entertainment, Gary Levine, said that he always thought the show would go seven or eight seasons before calling it quits.
The same couldn't be said of its star or its showrunner, David Hollander, who said the news blindsided him.
Fans have long memories, and they've remained vocal about the less-than-stellar treatment of the lasting drama.

A “Ray Donovan” feature-length film that picks up where the show’s seventh and final season left off is set at Showtime.
Star Liev Schreiber will return to his Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated role, and will co-write the script along with series showrunner David Hollander, who will also serve as director.
Jon Voight will also reprise his role as Mickey Donovan, and Kerris Dorsey will return as Ray’s daughter Bridget. Production is scheduled to begin later this year in New York.
“When ‘Ray Donovan’ went off our air after seven great seasons, we heard from so many of its loyal fans that they were not ready to say goodbye to Ray and the wonderfully dysfunctional Donovan clan,” Showtime president of entertainment Gary Levine said in a statement. “And so, for them, we are delighted that Liev and David are creating a thrilling new chapter of this iconic series.”

A “Ray Donovan” movie is in the works from Showtime, the network announced on Wednesday. Series star Liev Schreiber will return to his role as the titular antihero, a professional “fixer” who trades in all sorts of illegal activity to protect his high profile clients. Series favorite Jon Voigt will reprise his role as Ray’s father Mickey Donovan, as will Kerris Dorsey as Ray’s daughter Bridget. In an intriguing turn, Schreiber will co-write the script along with series showrunner David Hollander, who will also serve as director.
The new film will pick up where the seventh and final season left off, with Mickey in the wind and Ray determined to find and stop him before he can cause any more carnage. It will also take a page from “The Godfather Part II” by marrying the present-day fallout from the Donovan/Sullivan feud with Ray and Mickey’s origin story of 30 years ago.

Showtime has fixed Ray Donovan‘s cancellation, ordering a “feature-length” film that will pick up where Season 7 left off. The news comes one year after the premium cabler pulled the plug on the Liev Schreiber-fronted series in a move that drew widespread shock and bewilderment.
Schreiber is, of course, confirmed to reprise his titular role for the movie, as are Jon Voight as Ray’s pa Mickey Donovan and Kerris Dorsey as Ray’s daughter Bridget. Showrunner David Hollander will co-write the script (with Schreiber) and also direct.

Ray Donovan fans will, after all, get a satisfactory ending to their favorite Showtime series.
The fixer is returning in a feature-length film, which will pick up where season seven left off after its surprise cancellation last year.
Liev Schreiber will return as Donovan and will co-write the script with series showrunner David Hollander, who will direct. Jon Voight will also reprise his role as Mickey Donovan, as will Kerris Dorsey as Ray’s daughter Bridget.
Production is tentatively scheduled to begin later this year in New York.
It comes after Showtime made the surprise decision to end the series in February 2020 with its seventh season. Hollander admitted that the show’s creative team had been blindsided by the decision and Schreiber took to social media to promise that “there will be more Ray Donovan”. The actor has kept his promise.

Written and directed by “Ray Donovan” showrunner David Hollander, the drama is described as a present-day reimagining of the 1980 film starring Richard Gere.
Bernthal will star as Julian Kaye, introduced 18 years after he’s been arrested for murder and struggling to find his footing in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry, while seeking the truth about the set-up that sent him to prison all those years ago and hoping to reconnect with Michelle, his one true love.

Liev Schreiber believes there will be more “Ray Donovan” — and he has fan outcry following the Showtime series’ shocking cancellation to thank.
“It’s hard to describe how amazing it feels to those of us in the Ray Donovan family who have been lucky enough to experience the overwhelming love and support that all of you have expressed for our show since the news broke that Ray would not return,” he wrote Wednesday night on Instagram.
“What’s even more incredible is that it seems your voices have been heard,” Schreiber continued. “Too soon to say how or when, but with a little luck and your ongoing support, there will be more Ray Donovan.”
“So to all the Donofans who got their bats out and beat the odds. Thank you,” the show’s star said.

Ray Donovan fans have been up in arms since Showtime a week ago canceled the drama seres, denying them a proper ending since the recent Season 7 finale finished with a cliffhanger. Series showrunner David Hollander further fanned the flames by saying that he and the show’s creative team had been blindsided by the network’s cancellation decision.

‘Ray Donovan’ Showrunner On Possibility of Revival After Cancellation: ‘The Mechanisms Are in Place’
Showtime may have cancelled “Ray Donovan” before the drama series could tie up all of its loose ends, but showrunner David Hollander says he would “never say never” to a possible revival.
“I never know. This is a big show,” he told CinemaBlend of the possibility of bringing the show back to make its intended eighth season.
“To be fair to our bosses, Ray Donovan, for the Showtime model, was a very expensive show. We were going into our eighth season with salaries and all the step-ups for union. And the move to New York was extraordinarily expensive, so there’s that,” he continued.
“Is there an audience that wants to see this, that will create a demand cycle where someone will absorb the risk? I would never say never. It is much easier to do in the now.

Ray Donovan has fixed his last mistake. Showtime canceled the series after the end of season seven recently, and the news was a shock to all those involved with the series, including the man running things behind the scenes. David Hollander revealed that he thought the series would end with season eight. The writers were working towards that conclusion, and Showtime was aware of that plan when Hollander began writing during season seven.

“Ray Donovan” has been canceled. The long-running Showtime series starring Liev Schrieber was consistently one of the bright spots in the network’s schedule. However, rather unceremoniously, it was announced that the previous season, the show’s seventh, would be its last. Unfortunately, the network didn’t let anyone know beforehand and “Ray Donovan” frustratingly ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.
And in a new interview with Vulture, showrunner David Hollander explained that no one saw this news coming.

It's been a few days now since Showtime canceled Ray Donovan after seven seasons, and the series' showrunner has confirmed that he did not expect to be left high and dry by the network.
“We had no indicator that the show was ending,” executive producer David Hollander revealed in an interview with Vulture.
“We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion. This was in no way a series finale.”
What's more, Hollander dished that the series was never "even remotely" in danger of not getting renewed, saying:
“We were used to being a show that was not cancelled. We never thought we would be cancelled.”

“Ray Donovan” showrunner David Hollander was as caught off guard by the show’s cancellation as fans of the show were earlier this week.
“We were used to being a show that was not canceled. We never thought we would be canceled,” Hollander said of the nay-cable network’s surprise decision in an interview with Vulture published on Wednesday. The showrunner said he was given “no indicator” that the show’s fate was in danger. “We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion. This was in no way a series finale.”
Hollander went on to say that he felt like the conclusion of Season 6 would have made a natural endpoint for the show, but when Showtime commissioned a seventh outing, the writers set up two more seasons of story. Season 8 would have served as the show’s final bow.

Liev Schreiber’s titular brute figuratively and quite literally buried the past in Ray Donovan‘s brutal, bloody Season 7 finale. When the dust settled, multiple characters — including at least one series regular — were left for dead.
