Brexit, the HBO movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the real-life man who orchestrated the historic campaign, will debut Saturday, Jan. 19. HBO announced the premiere today, while releasing a trailer that gives a first look at the film.
As Dominic Cummings, who spearheaded the Vote Leave campaign, Cumberbatch delivers one of the trailer’s most telling lines, explaining to a colleague that the Brexit movement is about returning “to a time when we knew our place, when things made sense, fictional or not.”
During what appears to be a focus group of some sort, Cummings asks, “Which countries don’t you like?”
In addition to Cumberbatch, Brexit features Rory Kinnear as Craig Oliver, Prime Minister David Cameron’s director of communications and head of the Remain campaign.

Skyfall star Rory Kinnear and The Crown’s John Heffernan have joined Benedict Cumberbatch-fronted drama Brexit (w/t) as the first image of the Sherlock star, without his long locks, has been unveiled.
Filming has begun on the two-hour drama special, produced by Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell’s House Productions for Channel 4.
Kinnear, who has also starred in The Imitation Game and Black Mirror stars as Craig Oliver, Prime Minister David Cameron’s Director of Communications, who was brought in to oversee the Remain campaign’s communications strategy, while Heffernan, who played John Grigg, 2nd Baron Altrincham in Netflix’s royal drama, stars as Matthew Elliott, political lobbyist and Chief Executive of Vote Leave.

The Doctor Strange actor, currently starring in the Showtime and Sky drama Patrick Melrose, will front Brexit (working title), a political thriller written by playwright James Graham, best known for political plays such as The Vote and the recent Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? play Quiz.

TORONTO -- The Weinstein Co. on Friday preemptively nabbed worldwide rights (excluding U.K. TV) to the Toronto fest entry "Boy A".
John Crowley's drama, originally made for British television, is adapted from the novel of the same name by Jonathan Trigell. It follows a 24-year-old man released from prison years after murdering another child with his young friend. His attempts to put his past behind him are helped along by his social worker but hindered by the tabloid press and his social worker's son.
The intimate Cuba Pictures drama stars Andrew Garfield, Peter Mullen, Shaun Evans and Katie Lyons. It was produced by Lynn Horsford, Nick Marston, Tally Garner and Liza Marshall.
Channel 4 majority-financed the film and has the U.K. TV distribution rights.
