EagleTree Capital, the New York-based private equity and investment firm, has acquired a majority stake in FuseFX, the independent visual effects studio with facilities in Los Angeles, New York and Vancouver. Fuse FX founder and CEO David Altenau, as well as fellow co-founders — chief development officer Tim Jacobsen and chief technology officer Jason Fotter — will retain a significant minority stake and continue to lead the company. EagleTree's investment, the terms of which were not disclosed, will be used to accelerate the company's growth.

Fuel VFX has received two award nominations from the Visual Effects Society.
The.peer-voted accolade for the company's work on Ridley Scott.s Prometheus follows the near-collapse of the VFX house, which was saved in October 2012 when Animal Logic acquired its assets.
Fuel co-founder Paul Butterworth was nominated for .Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture. for Prometheus (alongside non-Fuel nominations Charley Henley, Allen Maris and Richard Stammers).
The Fuel team of Xavier Bourque, Sam Cole, Simone Riginell and Denis Scolan - representing the hard work of all 16 compositors who worked on the film at the company - were nominated for Prometheus (Engineers & the Orrery) in the "Outstanding Compositing in a Feature Motion Picture" category.
Fuel has also provided effects on a number of Marvel films including Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Fuel continues to run from its Newtown, Sydney-based offices where Animal Logic...

We couldn't have been happier with the turn of events in last night's season finale of "American Horror Story" on FX, but instead of rehashing what happened and spoiling it for anyone who may have DVR'd it and hasn't watched yet, we'll just share these four new behind-the-scenes videos provided by the network.
But before we get to that, how about some words from the show's creator Ryan Murphy about what fans can expect in Season Two? As he told EW, it will begin with a new locale and a (mostly) new cast. “Some of them will be coming back,” Murphy teased during a teleconference today. “I’m talking to several of them, and we’re in negotiations. There will be familiar faces, but there will also be new faces on the show.” Murphy hopes to announce the new storyline and cast in February.

Ascent Media Creative Services Group has promoted Barbara Marshall to managing director of its Encore Hollywood postproduction facility. Marshall, formerly director of Encore Visual Effects, will oversee new expansion at Encore, which among other things will enable the facility to offer digital intermediate mastering services for the feature film market. Tim Jacobsen has been named to fill Marshall's former post. Additionally, Barry Goldscher has been promoted to director of operations. The facility is building a color-correction theater and is integrating MTI's Control Dailies system for high-definition film dailies.
