From ampersands to The Apprentice, from dinner ladies to Dirty Den, here's a selection of nerdy in-jokes from Doctor Who series 2...
Last month we took a look at Doctor Who Series One as it celebrated its 10th Anniversary. Specifically, we delved deep into the murky world of in-jokes and sweet nerdy references.
Let’s take another trip back in time and have a look at the more notable and interesting references and in-jokes from Doctor Who Series Two, starring David Tennant and Billie Piper, where the credit of “Doctor Who” had been changed back to “The Doctor”. Pfft, party poopers.
New Earth
Old-skool fans would have been forgiven for being excited at the prospect, given that “New Earth” was a planet mentioned in the 1974 classic Invasion Of The Dinosaurs (though it didn’t actually exist in that story, it was a fake world). But all fans could get excited at...

The Voice UK was visited by none other than Gavin & Stacey's Nessa - well, an impersonator named Tara Lewis - when it launched its third series on the weekend.
And although Tara unfortunately couldn't impress Kylie Minogue, her idol Tom Jones or any of the other coaches at the Blind Auditions, the sight of 'Nessa' singing has stuck with us and got us thinking about all the great musical interludes that cropped up during James Corden and Ruth Jones's classic BBC sitcom.
And with news today that Gavin & Stacey could be returning, we can't think of a better time to revisit the show's greatest vocal performances...
'Barry Islands in the Stream'
It's Gwen's (Melanie Walters) birthday and amid nearly having a mental breakdown trying to secretly organise a line dance party for her, Bryn (Rob Brydon) also needs to practise a show-stopping duet with Nessa (Ruth Jones) in her honour.

TV – where would we be without it? Who would have thought that an electronic box of tricks could have the ability to instruct and entertain? Well, unless you tune into jaw-droppingly atrocious Oompa Loompa convention, The Only Way Is Essex. Without TV, we wouldn't have been able to see key events like the first man on the moon, the first ever Doctor Who story...
Oh, and I suppose some might say the coronation of Mrs Majesty way back in 1952. Judging by the 15 or so extras in the latest Doctor Who story, The Idiot's Lantern, interest must have been very high – a fact that will no doubt come home to roost next year when Mrs Maj celebrates 60 years on the throne in the only way that she knows how: with a gaudy, money-burning festival (Come on kids, we're all in this together, remember?) and that usual sour-faced expression that she always seems to pull.

British stars James Corden and Rob Brydon have paid tribute to veteran Welsh actress Margaret John, who died on Wednesday morning aged 84.
John, best known in the U.K. for her recent role in hit comedy Gavin & Stacey, passed away at a hospital in Swansea, Wales following a short illness.
The actress appeared in several popular British TV series, including Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Dr Who and Casualty, as well as enjoying a role in Simon Pegg's film Run Fatboy Run.
But it was her portrayal of wise-cracking elderly neighbour Doris in the BBC's Gavin & Stacey that made her a star in her 80s.
Her co-stars Corden, Brydon and Mathew Horne have all paid tribute to the actress on Twitter.com.
Corden writes, "All my thoughts are with the family of Margaret John who played Doris in G and S. A great actress and an incredible lady. She will be missed."
Brydon adds, "Just heard the terribly sad news that Margaret John has passed away. What a wonderful person she was, everyone on G&S adored her."
Horne wrote, "Really sad to hear Margaret John has passed away. She was such a good woman and so fun to work with."...

Question: Is there anything more amusing in this world than an old person saying inappropriate things? Answer: Obviously not. Consequently actress Margaret John is probably the funniest thing to ever come out of Wales. John has been on the TV circuit since the 1960s and has done the rounds on all the usual big gun shows - Z-Cars, Doctor Who, Blake's 7 and Lovejoy. However, it has only been in recent years that her hard efforts have finally been rewarded. Taking on the role of Doris, the amorous granny next-door, in James Corden and Ruth Jones's Gavin & Stacey, (more)...

Bawdy farce involving Tom Jones's penis becomes a multiplex sensation
The Hollywood blockbusters 2012 and A Christmas Carol are playing to respectable audiences Merthyr Tydfil's Vue multiplex, entertaining fans with their multimillion pound effects.
But in screen eight, the staff are having to drag in extra beanbags in an attempt to accommodate everyone who wants to see a comedy made for just £100,000 and with a marketing budget of a couple of grand.
In these days when megabucks movies dominate, A Bit of Tom Jones?, is providing hope for independent film-makers who may have ideas and talent but no money.
The movie is a bawdy farce with a plot turning an attempt to sell the Welsh superstar singer's severed manhood (better not to go into too many details for taste as well as spoiler reasons). And it is outselling rivals such as Michael Jackson's This is It and the sci-fi drama The Fourth Kind...
