In a grand act of trolling, Laura Jane Grace will be performing a solo set at Philadelphia’s Four Seasons Total Landscaping, the groundskeeping company that infamously hosted a press conference for former President Donald Trump’s campaign in what appeared to be a logistical blunder. (Prior to the event, reporters and the general public assumed it would be hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel.)
The show will take place on Saturday, August 21st, and will also feature a performance from Brendan Kelly of the Lawrence Arms.

Christine-Marie Liwag Dixon from The List isn’t the first to remind us that Celine Dion has been performing for decades but it’s a good thing she did since quite honestly there are a lot of folks that just don’t understand how hard this woman has worked in her life. As Brendan Kelly from the Montreal Gazette has pointed out she was at one point kind of docile as compared to now since she took a lot of direction from her husband/manager, but she still had the chance to build a reputation that’s something all her own. Throughout the years Celine

What value does fiction have in the interpretation of a historical event? This question can become central to the reception and understanding of historical films and has taken on important resonance in past years in regards to films like Ben Affleck’s Argo or Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty. These films are not documentaries; however they attempt to portray accurately events as they might have transpired. A similar film that for Canadian’s is perhaps a little closer to home is Denis Villeneuve’s 2009 film Polytechnique. For those unfamiliar with the events of the film, it portrays a 1989 Massacre at the École Polytechnique in Montreal, where Marc Lépine shot 28 people, killing 14 – all of whom were women. He purposefully targeted the women, blaming them for not being accepted into the school. Though on a smaller scale, like the two big Hollywood productions this film portrays an important historical event that...

Joe Swanberg and Adam Wingard's film Autoerotic focuses on four heterosexual couples as they contend with relationship-crippling sexual arousal issues; however, Autoerotic is not always about self-arousal. Structured in four mostly autonomous vignettes (all with unnamed thespians): the first and fourth chapters reveal perverse men who are grasping at straws to achieve sexual satisfaction, whether it be the desire for a significantly larger penis or a usable mold of an ex-girlfriend's vagina; the second and third...

Innovation is a rarity in most films because it’s usually trumped by laziness. It’s especially true with genre flicks that hew close to an established structure. Movies of the ‘kidnap and torture’ variety more often than not share common setups and resolutions and only differ slightly in the back story of the characters and the pain inflicted. Once in a while though, a movie comes along that gives a much needed twist to a genre convention. Victim is one such example, but unfortunately that fresh take comes at the expense of engaging characters, logic, predictability, and convincing acting. Opening credits inter-cut with a motel room assault captured on home video give way to a young man (Stephen Weigand) sitting alone at a bar. A few minutes of small talk later he’s walking alone to his car when he’s attacked by two men and disappeared into the night. He...

You know that you are in a strange territory when even the film poster for the film makes you uncomfortable. But directors Matt Eskandari and Michael Hultquist do not stop there. The trailer for Victim is here and if you are at work and have not been fired for showing the one-sheet on your screen then go a little farther and watch one young man feminized. The folks over at IFC have unveiled a new poster for the upcoming film 'Victim' and it's certainly turning some heads. We think it's very cool and edgy, though probably not appropriate for the office, though, what horror related product really is?
Check out the poster below and decide for yourselves. We're sure it won't be seen outside any movie theater or anything, but it's quite a unique marketing piece we thought we'd share it.
Victim is written by Mark Williams & Michael Pierce and directed by both Matt Eskandari & Michael Pierce. The film stars Stephen Weigan, Bob Bancroft, Brendan Kelly, Jennifer Howie and Stacy Haiduk.
