Who doesn’t love a good sports movie? Or a life-affirming feel-good film? And what’s better than a feel-good sports drama? Nothing much really. But what if that film is based on a true story, making it even more uplifting? Good god, it’s enough to make a grown man cry.
American Underdog fulfils all those qualities and more, telling the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi) and the years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player – but just when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, it is only with the support of his wife,...

So, you’ve survived the big holiday rush and are feeling a bit restless after the big meal. Perhaps you usually recoup by watching one of several football games on the tube that afternoon. But what if you’re not that invested in the match-ups and just want to get out of the house for a bit? Well, why not combine the two by taking in a new flick at the multiplex…one all about football. Oh, but it’s not a fictional tale of a group of “ragtag’ misfits pulling together for a beloved but often cranky coach. No, it’s all true, a sports biopic, but also a love story in the vein of the classic Pride Of The Yankees, minus the disease finale. And unlike that “chestnut,...

Lionsgate has debuted the full official trailer for their football movie titled American Underdog, opening in theaters on Christmas Day during the holidays later this year. Zachary Levi stars as Kurt, along with Anna Paquin, Dennis Quaid, Adam Baldwin, Bruce McGill, Ser'Darius Blain, Chance Kelly, Morgana Shaw, and Brett Varvel. ‘American Underdog’ Trailer: Zachary Levi’s Kurt Warner Needs to Prove Himself to Rams Coach (Video)
In the first trailer for "American Underdog," Kurt Warner (played by Zachary Levi) is called into the office of St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz and is grilled about why he should get the chance to be the team's starting quarterback.
"Go ahead then, tell me," Martz, as played by Chance Kelly, says. "Why a team worth $800 million and with the most complex offense ever built should put you in the driver's seat? You're too old to be a rookie, too green to be a pro. So why in the world would I give you this shot?"
"American Underdog" is a biopic about Warner and how he went from being a grocery store clerk to becoming a Super Bowl champion and Mvp. The trailer even shows Levi as Warner stocking shelves and looking fondly at a Wheaties box with a picture of Dan Marino on it. When a colleague asks...

"Do you think that a man's demons can be passed down to his son?" Breaking Glass Pictures has released the first official trailer for Beyond the Night, a mysterious thriller set in a small coal mining town. The film premiered at the Woodstock and Austin Film Festivals earlier this year, and is getting a small release in January. When a soldier's son reveals damning information about a local gangster's missing daughter, a war of attrition wreaks havoc on their forgotten mining town. Jason Noto's Beyond the Night stars Zane Holtz, with Tammy Blanchard, Azhy Robertson, Caitlin Mehner, Chance Kelly, David Fierro, Enid Graham, and Neal Huff. There seems to be some kind of supernatural element to this, but it's a bit more subtle than most horror films. I really enjoy the moody atmosphere of this, I'm quite curious about the film. Given the firm grip Netflix has on true crime stories, it only makes sense that Errol Morris, who delivered the genre defining “The Thin Blue Line,” should come to the streaming service. Indeed, the director is taking a big swing with “Wormwood,” a miniseries based on a true story, and it looks compelling as hell.
Starring Peter Sarsgaard, Christian Camargo, Scott Shepherd, Molly Parker, Jimmi Simpson, Bob Balaban, Tim Blake Nelson, John Doman, Hillary Gardner, Michael Chernus, Jack O’Connell, and Chance Kelly, the six-episode series will tell the untold true story of the CIA LSD experiments, mind control, and the death of a family man.

While stumbling around the cyber maze for our weekly Wtf Friday video feature, we came across a pretty bitching untitled viral video that does a hell of a lot more than just bare its fangs.
Upon doing some digging (well okay, all we really did was click the "Show More" button on YouTube), it's become apparent that said viral is actually a video for Jim Mickle’s post-apocalyptic vampire tale Stake Land (review here). Having just watched the flick, we can honestly say this vampire tale is pretty damned epic. As you'll see from the video, these creatures aren't the usual sparkling, brooding, pretty forever-teens that have been jammed down our throats over the last several years. They're blissfully ugly, unabashedly vicious, and just what we needed!
To keep track of this vampire uprising, keep an eye on the On to New Eden website.

All the buyers who turned HBO’s “Band of Brothers” into a massively successful DVD release (especially around Father’s Day and Christmas) should put “Generation Kill” on their shopping list this year.
