If you get a job because of your parents it's patronage in politics, and nepotism in other fields.
In show business, though, if you and your parents are well liked, it can be three hours of live TV as Miss Golden Globe. Gia Mantegna, daughter of actor Joe Mantegna ("Criminal Minds"), is delighted about her upcoming gig on The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday, Jan. 16.
"Every globe will basically go through me," she tells Zap2it. "I will help escort the winners to their next destination. I'll be kind of like a mini-female version of [host] Ricky Gervais. I'll be standing there silently in the corner, with long eyelashes."
Mantegna, 20, isn't yet sure about what she's wearing, but she knows who she wants to bring -- her parents.
Her dad has been nominated in the past, and she remembers her parents getting ready to go to the awards ceremony.

"Gigantic," the new scripted drama on TeenNick about growing up in the glitz of Hollywood, stars two girls who are no strangers to that very experience. Grace Gummer is the daughter of actress Meryl Streep and Gia Mantegna is the daughter of actor Joe Mantegna.
But they stress that while "Gigantic" may be set against the Hollywood backdrop, the show deals with universal teenage issues.
"The show is about teenagers who are mostly the sons and daughters of celebrities, but the cool part is it deals with real teenage situations that every teen goes through around the world," Gummer tells Zap2it.
"Our characters are frenemies," adds Mantegna. "What we've come to realize is one day they are best friends, the next day they stab you in the back, then the next day they're friends again. It's one of the many issues that all teenagers go through and all kids...
