When we think of the rise of the teen sex comedy in the current movie generation the focus easily moves to American Pie and maybe even Superbad. The brashness and move against being controlled by the ratings system pushed the boundaries of what could be included on-screen. Looking back to the eighties though there was a movie that arguably created the blueprint from which these films would work from. That film was Bob Clark’s Porky’s.
Set in 1954 we see a group of high school kids from Florida, trying to find the best way to get their friend Pee-Wee (Dan Monahan) laid, and finally “lose his cherry”. With a few disastrous failures under their belt,...

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
This week’s “Question of the Week” on Jeff Bayer’s “Movie B.S.” podcast is inspired by Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, a film about bullies and wimps clashing within the American educational infrastructure (I’m just assuming – Jeff reviewed it, I didn’t).

In honor of the wimps and their bullies, it’s time to think about the best clashes between the two in all of cinematic history. Below is a list that covers the moments of “Bully vs. Wimp,” but it doesn’t necessarily mean victory for the little guy. Sometimes, the wimp wins, but in others, the bully just keeps on harassin’, sassin’, and obviously, bullyin’.

Wyatt Knight, best remembered for the Porky's movies, was found dead in Maui on Oct. 26. Knight, who had received a bone marrow transplant for stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma in 2003, apparently committed suicide. He was 56. Knight's wife released a statement explaining her husband's decision: "He was tired of the pain, and after much contemplation, chose to end his life in a beautiful and a serene place. His family and friends are devastated. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be missed every day." In Bob Clark's Porky's, perhaps the sleeper hit of 1982, Knight played handsome bad boy Tommy Turner, the type of man that today would be labeled either a sex addict or a sex offender (if caught). Back then, Tommy was just a regular guy, either thinking of sex or dreaming about it. Knight's Tommy is particularly memorable because while showing his dick through a hole in the girl's bathroom wall,...

Step aside for a moment, nostalgic American Reunion trailer. Wyatt Knight, 56, who played Tommy in the original gross-out movie trilogy, Porky’s (known to us girls as “the movie where Kim Cattrall got her start playing sex-crazed bombshells”), was found dead in Maui last week, according to TMZ. His body was found near the home where he’d been staying, and police believe it was a suicide.
So, now, in Wyatt’s honor, we give you a choice: Watch the above trailer for Porky’s and relive a simpler time in movie history, when a film about boys looking to lose their virginity was a novel thing. Or, if you’re feeling a little more emo, watch Stages, the short black-and-white film Wyatt himself uploaded in 2008, in which he plays an out-of-work actor who works as a movie theater usher. (Sigh.)

Craig Moss and Steve Schoenberg have been hired to write the remake of 1982's Porky's, which Howard Stern is executive producing along with Larry Levinson. Dan Gross and Steve Squillante are producing. Porky's, released in 1982, starred Dan Monahan, Mark Herrier, Wyatt Knight, Roger Wilson and then-newcomer Kim Cattrall. The film, which followed a group of high school boys on their mostly sexual misadventures, was a risque release for its time and a big hit at the boxoffice. Porky's cost $4 million to make but brought in more than $105 million and spawned two sequels, Porky's II: The Next Day and Porky's Revenge.
