A little while ago we showed you some images from Simon Pegg / Andy Serkis’ new movie, Burke and Hare. This morning I wake to find that Empire have now released the first official image for the movie which shows the two of them dressed in their period character costumes looking rather dapper.
Burke and Hare also stars John Cleese, Isla Fisher, Tim Curry, Tom Wilkinson and is directed by John Landis. Burke and Hare is based on the real men who murdered 17 people between 1827 and 1828. After the murderers, they would sell the bodies to Dr. Robert Knox who would then dissect them in his anatomy class.
Still no release date but we think we can expect to see it around the latter half of 2010. You can click the image below to enlarge.

James Marsden, who was last seen in the mystery thriller "The Box," will move to lighter fare.
The actor has joined Russell Brand in the live action/CGI comedy "I Hop" directed by "Alvin and the Chipmunks'" Tim Hill, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"I Hop" follows unemployed slacker Fred (Marsden) who must put up with the cranky Easter Bunny (voiced by Brand) as a roommate after he accidentlly injures him. Naturally, both grow in the process.
Marsden next appears in the "Death at a Funeral" remake, hitting theaters in April and the "Straw Dogs" remake.
Other movie casting news:
- Naomi Watts will join the Jim Sheridan-directed thriller "Dream House," which has already cast Daniel Craig as the patriarch of a family that moves into a home in small town Connecticut. They discover, however, that a family that lived there previously had been slaughtered, possibly by that family's father that survived.

John Landis hasn.t directed a major feature film since 1998, but, rusty or not, he.s got a fantastic cast backing him up in Burke and Hare. We.ve known for quite a while that Simon Pegg will star as Hare and, more recently, Andy Serkis as Burke, but now Isla Fisher and Tom Wilkinson have been added to the roster. Burke and Hare is a remake of the 1971 original about a pair of serial killers who sell their victims as cadavers. As reported by THR, Fisher and Wilkinson find themselves in supporting roles. Fisher will play Hare.s girlfriend, .an actress looking for a patron who might or might not be an accomplice to the murders. and Wilkinson will portray Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer interested in Burke and Hare.s goods. In true Fisher fashion, I.d imagine her character will have significant comedic input. As for...

Bodies are moving all over the place as John Landis’ next, the tale of the Edinburgh grave robbers Burke & Hare, has a few additions to its cast and a replacement for the previously reported David Tennant.
Currently stomping all over the place in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll North London’s finest Andy Serkis will replace Tennant and join Simon Pegg as the titular ressurectionists while Tom Wilkinson will bring his own earthy brand of moral duplicity to the role of Knox, who paid for the bodies.
We first reported on this one back in October of last year and it’s one I’m really looking forward, not least because it’s John Landis firmly back in American Werewolf territory, but Serkis and Tom Wilkinson are solid additions to any cast.
I’m going to quote Heat Vision, who broke the news, as they do a fine job of detailing the new arrivals.

It was only yesterday we reported Andy Serkis had signed up to star alongside Simon Pegg in John Landis’ return to the director’s chair for Burke & Hare. David Tennant was touted for the role, but Pegg announced via Twitter that Serkis would play one half of Edinburgh’s most infamous sons. Well now the cast has two new additions in the forms of brilliant English character actor Tom Wilkinson and actress, Isla Fisher. The Aussie hottie (who was born in Scotland) will play Burke’s girlfriend and Wilkinson is Dr. Robert Knox, a surgeon who employs the services of the grave-robbing duo.
As Filmshaft’s Alex Wagner commented yesterday, it is great to see John Landis back directing. Sure he’s made some bloody awful films down the years, but he’s made some belters: An American Werewolf in London, The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Coming To America, Innocent Blood...

You might recall yesterday that Simon Pegg tweeted about Andy Serkis replacing David Tennant alongside him in John Landis' Burke And Hare. While Pegg deleted that announcement (it's likely he jumped the gun), Serkis has now been officially confirmed, along with Tom Wilkinson and Isla Fisher. The lead cast for the film has now grown to four, with Pegg and Serkis playing the infamous 19th century grave robbers, William Burke and William Hare, who, when they start to run out of easily accessible bodies to sell to medical schools, turn to murder to keep their business running.Fisher has signed on to play Burke's girlfriend, a wannabe actress looking for a patron who likely becomes an accomplice to the killings.Wilkinson, meanwhile, will bring his gravitas/comedy chops to the role of Dr Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer on the hunt for fresh, dead meat to slice 'n' dice.

Just yesterday we received word via a redacted Twitter update from Simon Pegg that the magnificent Andy Serkis would be replacing David Tennant in the dark comedy Burke & Hare, John Landis' return to the director's chair after ten years. Now THR's Heat Vision confirms Serkis' casting in the project along with the addition of Isla Fisher and Tom Wilkinson. Serkis is obviously playing Hare opposite Pegg’s Burke with Fisher playing Burke’s girlfriend, an actress looking for a patron who might or might not be an accomplice to the murders and Wilkinson as Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer looking for fresh corpses. Great cast! The story in the movie focuses on the Burke and Hare murders, also known as the West Port murders, which were serial murders perpetrated in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1827 and 1828. The killings were attributed to Irish immigrants William Burke and William Hare, ...

Simon Pegg has announced via Twitter that Dr. Who star David Tennant has stepped out of John Landis’ upcoming Burke and Hare, to be replaced by Lord of the Rings and King Kong star Andy Serkis.
Burke and Hare chronicles the infamous 19th century crimes of William Burke (Pegg) and William Hare (Serkis), who robbed Edinburgh graves on behalf of anatomist Dr. Robert Knox, and who resorted to murdering 17 people when the availability of fresh corpses dried up.
Landis is, of course, a genre legend, director of such films as National Lampoon’s Animal House, An American Werewolf in London and Trading Places (not to mention the groundbreaking video for Michael Jackson’s Thriller).
