“CSI: Vegas” may be canceled, but CBS isn’t giving up on the franchise. The Eye network announced Tuesday a new edition in the “CSI” universe — but this time in the unscripted space.
CBS has ordered the unscripted, true-crime docuseries “The Real CSI: Miami” based on the drama “CSI: Miami,” which aired from 2002 to 2012 (for 10 seasons and 232 episodes). The new series is set to release on CBS on June 26 at 10 p.m. Et. The news came as CBS announced its summer lineup.
The logline for “The Real CSI: Miami” reads, “Each episode features gripping real-life crime cases and the cutting-edge forensic science used to solve them. ‘The Real CSI: Miami’ highlights that at the heart of every story is a victim and a family seeking justice.”
The news of another “CSI” show being ordered comes after the last show in the franchise “CSI: Vegas” announced its cancellation in April after three seasons.

CSI: Miami is getting the docuseries treatment.
CBS has ordered an unscripted series based on its iconic crime drama – The Real CSI: Miami.
It comes from CSI creator Anthony Zuiker, Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced the franchise and Nailed It! and Top Chef producer Magical Elves.
The series will feature real-life crime cases and the cutting-edge forensic science used to solve them.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach recently teased that there was another CSI project in development. She said that the CBS brand was “part of its legacy as a company”. “I definitely think that franchise is alive and well will continue to be in discussions we have,” she said. “I think that ultimately we’ll find different and interesting ways to bring the show back.”

After 20 seasons, “Top Chef” has gone through some significant changes. Most notably, former champion Kristen Kish replaces longtime host Padma Lakshmi for Season 21, which also introduces its first major twist — at least since the introduction of redemption with “Last Chance Kitchen” — to the overall gameplay in two decades.
“It was a great opportunity for us to take a look at what we’ve done for the first two decades and start thinking about the next two decades,” Ryan Flynn, SVP of Current Production for NBCUniversal Entertainment and Streaming, told IndieWire. “With Padma moving on, it really felt like a great exclamation point” on that period of the franchise.
With “Top Chef” Season 21, which sees Kish join returning judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons for the installment set in Wisconsin, there was an opportunity to “sort of shake the rhythm a little bit” and “challenge ourselves to step outside of the...

The first season of Oxygen True Crime’s riveting Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler concludes with episode 10 airing on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 8pm Et/Pt. Episode 10, “Justice Is Green,” focuses on the murder and dismemberment of Morris Black in 2003. Robert Durst was charged with his neighbor Black’s murder and pleaded not guilty by reason of self-defense. In this exclusive clip from the season one finale, Kelly Siegler provides a crash course in self-defense and reveals that self-defense cases are more difficult to prosecute than you’d think.
“When you read the legal paragraph of what justifies self-defense, there’s a lot of words,” explains Siegler, the former Chief of Special Crimes in the busiest courthouse in Texas. “And it’s hard to make a jury understand all those words and all those little elements and pieces matter before self-defense applies.”

At the end of 2023, it was announced that Chuck E. Cheese would be ditching their trademark animatronics, which allegedly had absolutely nothing to do with the massive success of "Five Nights at Freddy's," a franchise about playful animatronics coming to life possessed by the souls and corpses of dead children. Fans of subpar pizza, cheap novelty prizes, ball pits with unknown horrors at the bottom of the vinyl, and arcade games that are always coated in a layer of sticky kid slime worried that this marked the end of Charles Entertainment Cheese's empire.
But according to a recent newsbreak from The Hollywood Reporter, it certainly sounds like the corporation that gave us similarly brilliant ideas like "Putting Pasqually's Pizza on DoorDash and UberEats during the quarantine era of the pandemic so people don't realize they're ordering Chuck E. Cheese birthday party pizza" is getting into the reality game show business.

The great nostalgia IP hunt has found its way to Chuck E. Cheese.
The “pizza time theater” and its surreally dystopic kids birthday party destination are inspiring a TV game show.
Magical Elves, the producers of Top Chef and other reality TV hits, is developing a series based on the restaurant chain.
The show will remind some of Netflix’s Squid Game, as it has adults competing in larger versions of games they played as kids: The official description: “The format will feature stand-alone comedic physical challenges where duos of ‘big kids’ (aka adults) will compete over supersized arcade games — including pinball, air hockey, alley roller and the human claw. The top ticket earning duo will get the chance to exchange their tickets for prizes off the massive version of the iconic Chuck E. Cheese prize wall.”

Oxygen’s Cold Justice production crew may not be professional true crime sleuths by trade, but working on a show that uses clues and investigations to solve a cold case can awaken the detective in just about anyone.
Casey Kriley and Jo Sharon, Co-CEOs of Magical Elves said working on a series like Cold Justice is unique in the sense that their show unfolds as the investigation, led by veteran prosecutor Kelly Siegler, progresses.

While saltier reality shows including Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise and HBO Max’s “FBoy Island” are still very much a thing — and very popular — there has also been a bumper crop of “nice” reality programming infiltrating the arena.
And, it turns out, Television Academy voters are fans. A look at the reality categories in this year’s Emmys race include Netflix’s A-for-effort baking competition series “Nailed It!,” the long-running, pride-focused VH1 series “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and both NBC’s mentorship musician series “The Voice” and its goofysweet crafts program “Making It.” Even the vibe of perennial Emmy nominee, Bravo’s “Top Chef,” comes with a message of respect for the artistry of cooking.

You can use visual effects and green screens to create everything from monsters to Manila if you got the dough to do it, but a uniquely lopsided, wonky cake? Not so easy. But when the big Covid shutdown of 2020 occurred, executive producers Jo Sharon and Casey Kriley had to find a creative way to maintain production to satiate the appetites of fervent fans of Netflix’s baker recreation series. The solution: baker pairs.
“It was a great way to evolve the show creatively as well as dealing with Covid, because all of those bakers have pre-existing relationships”, says Sharon, regarding this past season which involved laugh-out-loud sweet confections based on sea creatures, fast-food impostors and even recreations of Grandmas. Kriley adds: “Having teams of two, we were so thrilled to see how much more kind of energy and interaction it brought to the show.”

From celebrity cameos to out-of-the-box approaches to a host who wanted to preside over a competition series from inside a giant hamster ball, producers of reality TV series thought creatively to ramp up production mid-pandemic.

The fashion competition ended its 18th season in March and has not formally been renewed by Bravo for a 19th, though casting for the new season began in February and an individual with knowledge tells TheWrap the Season 19 is in the very early stages at the cable channel — having been stalled by the pandemic, like almost every other TV series — but that Alfred Street Industries will be producing the new episodes once they can begin production.
Cutforth and Lipsitz produced “Project Runway” through Magical Elves from 2004 to 2009 during its first turn on Bravo, with the duo and their production company leaving the fashion competition series when it relocated to Lifetime. During the Lifetime years, the show was produced by The Weinstein Company and Bunim/Murray.
