Gore Verbinski would seem to have hit a snag in his big-budget blockbuster career after his Lone Ranger movie for Disney became a notoriously bloated flop. However, he was able to return with a smaller directorial effort after that, with the suspense film A Cure for Wellness. It has been eight years since the release of A Cure for Wellness, and Verbinski returns from his hiatus to helm an action-adventure film with the humorous title Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. The movie sports an impressive cast, including Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz and Juno Temple. The film has just started production on location in South Africa.
The description of the movie’s plot, according to Deadline, reads, “The film, written by Matthew Robinson (Love & Monsters), centers on a man from the future (Rockwell) who arrives at a diner in Los Angeles where he must recruit...

As the dawn of the new millennium approached, the world would start to see a trend of films that would become very mainstream. These types of movies are action horror video game adaptations. As stated in our previous video, there have been a number of different ones, but nothing stood out more than Resident Evil. In 2002, we were graced with the first in this series. It may not have been the critic’s favorite, but it did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel. The name of that sequel is Resident Evil: Apocalypse (watch it Here). With a title that big, you would think the filmmakers went for bigger, better and more destructive…right? For the most part, yes and they even packed in some surprises for fans of the series. So today on Horror Revisited we ask that you suit up and strap in for Alice...

After working together on the 2021 version of Wrong Turn, director Mike P. Nelson and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy are re-teaming for the Brazil-set creature feature Titan – and Deadline reports that Kiana Madeira of the Fear Street trilogy and Jessica Rothe of the Happy Death Day movies are set to star in the film!
The story Titan is set against the backdrop of Brazil’s Curuçá River in the present day. When a team of young doctors embark on a local humanitarian mission through the Amazon rainforest, it soon becomes clear that not everyone – or everything – is happy to see them. Their arrival draws the attention of an ancient predator, the “Boiúna”. This ancient killer, dominant on land and water, clashes to reclaim the jungle. The ensuing fight for survival blurs the roles of hunter, prey, and hero.
The film is coming our way from the Resident Evil franchise makers at Constantin Film and Jb Pictures.

German powerhouse Constantin Film and Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions have teamed to make a high-end drama series about the events surrounding the Nuremberg Trials.
The drama, currently unnamed, follows the prosecution of Nazi officials after World War II, the first time in history that people were held accountable for war crimes, exploring characters from all sides of the trials.
The series will be executive produced by Oliver Berben and Robert Kulzer for Constantin Film, Spotnitz and Emily Feller for Big Light, and Ron Maxwell (Gettysburg) along with Jeff Berg of Northside Services.
“This series is a real powerhouse,” said Spotnitz. “It’s an investigative mystery, a suspense thriller set both in a courtroom and on the global stage, and one of the most searing moral dramas imaginable. The characters and the issues all seem startlingly relevant and contemporary.”

The first live-action series in the Resident Evil franchise will be a short-lived one.
Netflix has canceled the series after a single season. The decision comes six weeks after Resident Evil’s July 14 debut and after both the streamer’s own metrics and external measurements showed the series didn’t have a long shelf life with viewers.
The series was the first live action show in the media-spanning Resident Evil universe after a host of video games and movie adaptations and a Netflix animated series that premiered in 2021. It’s set primarily in 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, and centers on a young woman (Ella Balinska) fighting for survival amid hordes of zombies and other monsters.
The cast also includes Lance Reddick, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gosatti and Turlough Convery.

The live-action “Resident Evil” series at Netflix has been canceled after just one season.
The eight-episode first season premiered on Netflix July 14. The show was originally ordered to series at Netflix in 2020.
The series debuted to a mixed critical response, registering just a 55 approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes coupled with a 27 audience approval rating. Per the weekly Netflix Top 10 rankings that the streamer issues, “Resident Evil” was streamed for over 72 million hours the week it debuted, making it the number two program of the week behind only “Stranger Things” Season 4. It dropped to number three in its second week and fell out of the top 10 by week 3.

After just one season that premiered this past July, Netflix has already made the decision to cancel their live action “Resident Evil” series, Deadline reports this afternoon.
Deadline notes, “The news, which comes a month and a half after the series’ July 14 release, is not entirely surprising as the drama did not have a particularly strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 and cost vs. viewing is the streamer’s leading renewal criterion.”
The idea behind the Netflix series was to adapt different parts of different Resident Evil games, opening up the universe and allowing anything to be possible within the show’s world. In fact, there had been hints that elements from Resident Evil Village would be making their way into future seasons, with an appearance from Lady Dimitrescu being teased by the creators.
Alas, Netflix’s “Resident Evil” is no more. The fate of many shows in the streaming era.

“Resident Evil” is heading to the small screen, but the monsters appear to be bigger than ever. Netflix debuted a new trailer for their live-action “Resident Evil” series Monday as a part of their jam-packed Geeked Week, and the new footage offers some hints at plot details, along with plenty of mystery and even more monsters.
A new approach to the long-running video game, film and animation franchise, Netflix’s series (the first live-action series in franchise history) follows Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska) – daughter of familiar “Resident Evil” character Albert Wesker (played by Lance Reddick) – as she “fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

Just a year after the premiere of its last live-action adaptation, the “Resident Evil” franchise has risen from the grave in the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix horror series.
Based on the long-running Capcom survival horror franchise, “Resident Evil” stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, one of the main antagonists of the original video game series. Tamara Smart and Ella Balinska portray the younger and older versions of Wesker’s daughter Jade, while Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery round out the cast in undisclosed roles.
The plot for the new series has been kept under wraps, but the teaser trailer, set to the famous 1971 pop song “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony),” reveals that the show will be split in between two timelines. The first, set in 2022, sees Jade moving with her father and...

“Resident Evil” is back, and this time it’s heading to streaming. Netflix debuted the teaser trailer for its live-action series adaptation of the hit video game and film franchise on Thursday, revealing the first footage from the upcoming adaptation — and it’s jam-packed with all the “Resident Evil” hallmarks — the nefarious doings of the Umbrella Corporation, the spread of the T-Virus, blood-thirsty mutant animals and, of course, a whole lot of zombies.
After a glimpse at the false promise of Raccoon City’s 2022 utopia, the trailer jumps to post-zombie-outbreak London in 2036, delivering an action-packed (and blood-soaked) glimpse at the first live-action “Resident Evil” series. All eight episodes debut globally on Netflix on July 14.
No doubt, “Resident Evil” fans will be searching for Easter eggs in the new trailer – and while you’re at it, keep an eye out for a couple of hidden opportunities to hunt down more sneak peeks online.

“Resident Evil” producer Constantin Film has acquired the rights to Lee Goldberg’s movie script for thriller “The Walk,” which he adapted from his bestselling novel. Goldberg has served as the showrunner of “Diagnosis Murder” and “Martial Law.”
In “The Walk,” after an apocalyptic earthquake, a studio exec is making his way by foot from downtown L.A. to the San Fernando Valley to find his family and has to reluctantly team up with an unusual traveler going the same direction. Yet nothing is as it seems and the walk proves to be full of unexpected traps and challenges.
Goldberg has published more than 40 novels, including “Lost Hills,” “True Fiction,” and five “Fox & O’Hare” novels (with Janet Evanovich), selling nearly two million copies worldwide.
Goldberg’s television credits include writing multiple episodes of the USA Network series “Monk,” and co-creating “Mystery 101,” Hallmark’s series of TV movies.

“Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” has been pushed two months from Sept. 3 to Nov. 24, Sony Pictures announced on Wednesday.
Johannes Roberts (“47 Meters Down”) is directing and writing the origin story that will travel to Raccoon City in 1998, when a zombie apocalypse spread as a result of a deadly virus and bioweapon unleashed by the Umbrella Corporation. Roberts said the new film will be based largely on the first two video games in the “Resident Evil” franchise.
The film stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia and Neal McDonough.
Robert Kulzer, James Harris and Hartley Gorenstein are producing, while executive producers are Martin Moszkowicz and Victor Hadida.
The film will be distributed domestically by Sony’s Screen Gems, which also released the original six films starring Milla Jovovich as based on the Capcom horror video games. The previous six “Resident Evil” movies earned over $1.2 billion at...

Update: Screen Gems and Constantin’s Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is going to Wednesday Nov. 24, leaving its Labor Day weekend release. The zombie video game feature adaptation reboot will be up against United Artists Releasing/MGM’s House of Gucci and Disney animated feature Encanto on its new date.
The move comes after Disney plopped Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings on Labor Day weekend this year — which is unbelievable given how the box office truly ratchets down over that weekend (unless the studio has an alternative plan to put the movie in theaters and on Disney+ Premier).
Previous update, Feb. 4: Constantin’s new Resident Evil distributed by Sony Screen Gems has been set to open on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3 this year. Paramount’s Jackass is the only other major studio wide release scheduled at that time.
