- Son of actor Harvey Lembeck.

- In 1971, he appeared with his father Harvey Lembeck in an episode of The Partridge Family (1970), as a kitchen worker and restaurant owner on opposite sides of a strike.
- Remembered for playing Max Horvath, husband of Julie Cooper (played by Mackenzie Phillips), on the long-running comedy One Day at a Time (1975). Phillips's firing from the series led to his being written out also. (In the story-line, Julie abruptly leaves Max and their infant daughter. Max accepts a new job in Texas, and moves away from Indianapolis.).
Lembeck continued in the role of Max after Phillips was fired. - Went to the same High School as Angelina Jolie, Michael Klesic, Nicolas Cage, Corbin Bernsen, Lenny Kravitz, David Schwimmer, Jonathan Silverman and Richard Dreyfuss.
