"You think Sweet Goods Marion is cute, huh?" Music Box Films has released an official Us trailer for the German bittersweet romantic drama In the Aisles, also known as In den Gängen in German. This initially premiered at the Berlin Film Festival last year, and it also stopped by the Sydney, Galway, Vukovar, Athens, Chicago, and Stockholm Film Festivals last year. In the Aisles stars Franz Rogowski (from the outstanding Transit) and Sandra Hüller (star of Toni Erdmann) as workers at a generic big box store in small-town Germany who strike up a romance in the midst of the mundanity of this store: the long aisles, the bustle at the checkouts, the forklifts. The cast includes Peter Kurth, Matthias Brenner, Henning Peker, Gerdy Zint, Andreas Leupold, and Steffen Scheumann. I really adore this film, it won me over at Berlinale. I put in my review that, "it got to me and melted my heart,...

Chicago – Here’s a knee-jerk horrorshow with a premise so monumentally galvanizing and profoundly disgusting that it manages to upstage the film itself. Once you’ve discovered what the “Human Centipede” is, in all of its grotesque awfulness, your mind instantly creates a vision more viscerally disturbing than anything that could possibly be captured on film.
If by some chance you have not learned of what the “Human Centipede” is, then read no further, unless you’re not intending to lose your lunch anytime soon. Though the premise is depraved beyond belief, the film itself is less excruciating than one would expect (it’s certainly no “Cannibal Holocaust”). Writer/director Tom Six, an eager-to-quease provocateur from the Netherlands, has concocted a campy lark with a very specific audience in mind, that of the midnight movie thrill hounds who take delight in daring themselves to avoid shielding their eyes from extreme levels of cinematic nastiness.

Another week in October, another bounty crop of horror DVDs and Blu-rays. This week we have home entertainment from recent theatrical releases of nightmares of the mind as well as re-releases of classic and campy horror, all with boatloads of extras.
Then there are other horror titles that are being re-released on Blu-ray or in packs for double dipping. On top of that, horror offerings from Asia, past seasons of TV shows, manga, novels, and even video games are all vying for our pocketbooks. And we still have four more weeks of October to go.
Next year October needs to begin in August.
Human Centipede: First Sequence
Directed by Tom Six
Human Centipede: First Sequence (review) was a sensation ever since its first mention. Stephen Colbert even talked about it at the 2010 Emmys Awards broadcast! The premise cannot be simpler. Two pretty American girls are on a road trip through Europe.

Talk about having mixed reactions after viewing The Human Centipede. At one point I was saying to myself is this really happening? Then, admiration entered the mind for its creative story and execution. The 90 minute horror flick started to grow on me, but not sure if anyone would want to see this. Having said that, many of us have watched disgusting Youtube videos just to say we did. That's kind of where this flick falls. One should probably give it a look.
Story is set in Germany, with two girls on an European vacation. Lindsay (Ashley C. Williams) and Jenny (Ashlynn Yennie) are all dolled-up to go to a random party at a club. As in all horror flicks, they run into some trouble and get lost in a desolate location. They start roaming around the woods until they come across a house. Approaching the expensive looking home,...

A one-of-a-kind experience that is guaranteed to shock and divide audiences, Dutch filmmaker Tom Six's twisted biological horror film, "The Human Centipede" confidently goes where few films have dared to go. In addition to its shocking imagery, the film also features an indelibly villainous performance by Dieter Laser, whose brilliant and demented Dr. Heiter is sure to soon join the ranks of Freddy, Jason and Jigsaw whenever true horror icons are discussed...
