Timing is everything. On April 29, 2024, Den of Geek published an article breaking down the mysteries of the supposed “lost” second pilot of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. We put forth that this long rumored version of the first episode, “Day of the Dumpster,” glimpsed in convention footage, didn’t exist as most fans assumed. That, in fact, the aired version was mostly made of that supposedly “lost footage.” End of the discussion, right?
Just under a week later, Adrian Carr, director of “Day of the Dumpster” and other early episodes of Power Rangers, released his original edit of that installment that revealed some of our analysis was correct but others were blown out of the water by new revelations. For instance, the earthquake scene when the Rangers teleport for the first time? Different in this version, contrary to what we suspected.
(For those wondering, Carr confirmed his upload had nothing to do with our earlier article.

All hell broke loose in the fifth episode of “X-Men ’97,” “Remember It.” The shocking events are so traumatic, in fact, that fired showrunner Beau DeMayo momentarily broke his silence about the show to explain why it was important to reflect that “the X-Men have now been hit hard by the realities of an adult and unsafe world.”
It was against this unpredictable backdrop that The Newton Brothers Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart composed a score (out May 24) for the reboot that both honored and transcended the spirit of “X-Men: The Animated Series.”
“We started tackling the music in a sort of multi-faceted way at first [before seeing full episodes] because we didn’t really want to pretend that we knew exactly what the show should be because there are so many aspects,” Grush told IndieWire. “So, for us, it was about trying to give proper credit to various genres and ideas, and seeing...

Power Rangers in Space was a revolutionary entry in the Power Rangers franchise. The show had certainly evolved over the previous five seasons but In Space was a quantum leap forward. Airing in 1998 on Fox Kids, the series featured serialized plots, character arcs with depth, and gifts for longtime fans in the form of returning Rangers and villains. Nearly 25 years later, the series remains highly regarded, many elements of it even making their way into the current Power Rangers comics.
But it all could have been so very different. Imagine a version of In Space where Astronema wasn’t the big bad, Red Ranger Andros didn’t exist, and Power Rangers Turbo’s Justin is a a main character! At one point in time these were real possibilities.
To discuss all this we need to go back to May 1997, back around the time the second half of Turbo was beginning to be written.

It’s been more than a quarter-century since the X-Men animated series invaded small screens — and 22 years since it ended — but a new copyright-infringement suit appears to suggest that the entire X-Men universe that has exploded into the zeitgeist wouldn’t have happened if not for that series’ theme song.
A Florida man is suing Marvel, Disney’s Buena Vista Television, Amazon, Apple, Haim Saban and others, claiming that the X-Men toon’s theme song was ripped off from a 1980s Hungarian TV series. Zoltan Krisko says he represents Gyorgy Vukan, the late composer of the theme song from Linda, a “comedy thriller” that aired from 1984-91 in the former Soviet Union satellite. According to the suit filed today in the Southern District of New York (read it here), “a household name in Hungary and an entire country could identify the series through its iconic soundtrack.”

A hit for Filmation in 1985, She-Ra: Princess of Power (a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe spin-off) ran for more than 50 episodes and generated millions of dollars in toy-sales (as it was created to do). Now owned by DreamWorks and with showrunner Noelle Stevenson onboard, the female warrior has undergone a major reimagining for an online audience.
Now titled She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power, the story centres around orphans Adora (Aimee Carrero) and Catra (Aj Michalka). Found and raised by the Horde to fight in their take-over of Etheria, the girls grow up like sisters under the harsh tutelage of commander Shadow Weaver (Lorraine Toussaint). Tired of being pitted against each other for the rank of Force Captain, the girls sneak out to the Whispering Woods to blow off some steam.
While there, Adora discovers the Sword of Power that awakens her She-Ra alter-ego and after meeting Rebel...

Even with 20/20 hindsight, the fact that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would spawn a property worth billions of dollars is quite an unlikely story.
By 1993, it had been years since co-creators Haim Saban and Shuki Levy shot a pilot episode that included footage from an incredibly campy Japanese superhero show (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger) with footage they shot themselves in the United States. No network wanted it, and the pilot sat on the shelf for years.
When Fox finally bought the property, the Rangers had to be recast (the original actors by then were too old to be believable as five...

If the recent casting spree has been any indication, Lionsgate has had all hands at the pump for its live-action rendition of Power Rangers, filling four out of the five nominal roles over the past few weeks.
But the one member to elude the studio was the Yellow Ranger – that is, until now. Collider reports that newcomer Teyana Jones will don the guise as the costumed hero, and that the studio has finally settled on an official title for the feature film: Saban’s Power Rangers. This changeover stems from series co-creator Haim Saban, who reportedly wanted to attach his own name to the title of the movie before it graces screens in 2017.
It’ll also reflect Saban’s deep involvement in the project alongside his creative partner Shuki Levy. As the casting process begins to simmer down, the outlet notes that Saban is actively involved in redrafting the Power Rangers script,...

Will you help "Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths," based on the beloved French-Japanese anime, see an English-language release?
Developed by Paris-based Ynnis Interactive, "Mysterious Cities of Gold" adapts the 30-year-old animated series from Studio Pierrot ("Urusei Yatsura," "Fushigi Yūgi") and Dic Audiovisuel, which tells the story of Estaban, a young orphan in 1532 on a quest to the New World to learn the fate of his missing father and the truth about a fabled city of gold. Viewers of a certain age might remember the 39-episode series which ran here in the U.S. in the mid-80's on Nickelodeon. It received a followup series in France during the 2012-2013 season.
Ynnis's game is firmly set in the continuity of the original series, however, featuring some of the original voice work and music from "Mysterious Cities of Gold '83" for the Wii U, 3Ds, and iPhone/iPad versions of the game.

Shuki Levy's and Anita Mann's LevyMann Entertainment has secured major publishing and apparel deals for its animated direct-to-video property "The Itty Bitty Heartbeats". The programming, consisting of short segments and aimed at preschoolers, launched on video exclusively at Toys "R" Us in October and then went to mass distribution. Grosset & Dunlap, a division of Penguin Young Readers Group, has signed a three-year joint-venture agreement to produce a line of children's books. These books, targeting the show's 3- to 6-year-old demo, will include storybooks, sticker books, paper doll books and other popular preschool formats. On the apparel front, Wormser Co. and Fruit of the Loom have each signed three-year licensing deals for the property. Wormser will produce infant, toddler and young children's sleepwear. Fruit of the Loom will produce underwear for the same age group. LevyMann continues to seek television outlets for the animated series. Plush toys also are available for the property. Levy was a co-founder of Saban Entertainment. Mann is an Emmy-winning choreographer, producer, director and writer. Their company is based in Beverly Hills. All three deals were brokered by Joy Tashjian of Joy Tashjian Marketing Group.
