MTV has decided to cancel The Inbetweeners after one season and 12 episodes. While the original UK series was a hit overseas, the American version never caught on with a substantial audience.
A spokesperson for MTV said, "While we won’t be moving forward with another season of The Inbetweeners, we enjoyed working with the show’s creators and such a talented, funny cast."
Revolving around a quartet of misfit teenage boys who are trying to fit in at high school and make it through that awkward stage of life, The Inbetweeners stars Joey Pollari, Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman, and Mark L. Young.
The show's first (and only) season garnered a mere 620,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic while the last season of Teen Wolf averaged 1.69 million and a 0.7 demo rating. Current comedy Underemployed seems to...

The Inbetweeners Us has been cancelled by MTV. The remake of the hit British sitcom debuted to around 1m viewers on the channel over the summer, but its ratings had fallen to nearly 600,000 for its final season one episode and will now not be picked up for a second run, reports Deadline. "While we won't be moving forward with another season of The Inbetweeners, we enjoyed working with the show's creators and such a talented, funny cast," an MTV spokesperson said. The news comes after MTV head of programming David Janollari was replaced by Susanne Daniels earlier this month. The comedy starred Joey Pollari, Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman and Mark L Young as four high school students struggling in their quest to be cool and get girls, with Arrested Development's Brad Copeland serving as showrunner. On Monday, MTV aired the first season finale of The Inbetweeners. The show hasn't been cancelled or renewed for a second season yet? What should they do?
Based on a UK TV series of the same name, The Inbetweeners follows the lives of four misfit teenage boys as they try to navigate and survive in high school. They show stars Alex Frnka, Bubba Lewis, Joey Pollari, Mark L. Young, and Zack Pearlman.
The series debuted back on August 20th to 910,000 viewers with a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Viewership dropped nearly 29% by the second episode, to 650,000 viewers with a 0.3 rating. Everyone's got a couple good high school field trip stories -- and tonight's episode of MTV's "The Inbetweeners" will take you right back to those days. Zap2it has an exclusive sneak peek of the episode, titled "The Field Trip." In the episode, the boys head to a Civil War battlefield with their class... but they may have to engage in a battle of their own.
When Will (Joey Pollari) sits next to a pretty girl, Lauren, on the bus, he thinks the field trip is off to a great start -- particularly after she scores some booze and invites the guys to a party. Unfortunately, as you can see from the clip below, Lauren has her eye on Simon (Bubba Lewis). Will's determined to win her over, though. Like really, awkwardly, terribly determined.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including The Newsroom, Political Animals, Bunheads, Project Runway and Glee!
1 | How fantastic has The Newsroom‘s Lisa turned out to be? When first introduced, she seemed like little more than a superficial foil for her journalistic roommate, Maggie. But in this week’s episode, girlfriend stepped up! She schooled Jim about choosing her only because Maggie was unavailable, then held Will accountable — on live TV — for the media’s lopsided coverage of child abuse and abduction cases.

Adulthood, in itself, isn't very funny. And it's very rare that a series like Friends or Seinfeld can correctly inject a groundbreaking dosage of humor into the mundane details of being working men and women: the sense of discovery is gone, the making light of things you don't know has faded, the foolish ways of thinking aren't productive in the world of cubicles and docs. When a comedy manages to hit a good nerve, it usually does so with memorable characters in unique situations, making those people jump out of the screen—out of the show, even—and become instant staples. But more times than not, these prolific characters are earnestly stupid, because nothing is quite as funny as catching someone blissfully unaware of how life really works.
And no one's more humorously ignorant of the rules of life more than the high schooler, which is why MTV's The Inbetweeners...

If "Superbad" and MTV's "Awkward" had a baby boy, and that boy was dropped on his head during his formative years, that baby would grow up to be MTV's new U.S. remake of UK cult hit "The Inbetweeners." And we mean that as a compliment.
The series premieres Monday, August 20 at 10:30 p.m., chock-full of laugh out loud moments that will take you right back to your high school days. But not necessarily the good days, if you know what we're saying.
Joey Pollari plays Will McKenzie, who transfers to a new school after some problems with bullies at his old one. There, he meets the unlucky in love Simon Cooper (Bubba Lewis), the dimwitted Neil Sutherland (Mark L. Young), and Jay Cartwright (Zack Pearlman), who one television critic at this year's TCA Press Tour described as one of the most despicable characters on television. (He's our favorite.

The young-and-delicious slant of MTV Scripted (a phrase that still doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well as you'd like it to) has produced a varied roster of mixed results. You can mark current landmarks Awkward. and Teen Wolf (both of which were given record double-sized third season orders) in front of the short-run mediocres (Hard Times of Rj Berger, Human Giant) and the arguable one-run failures, including the scandalous Skins and hipster I Just Want My Pants Back. But it's still not a guarantee that young comedy The Inbetweeners—an adaption of the same-named British series—will be a hit. What it does have going for it, however, is following a stride that the network's past two hits have hit relatively well: it's pretty goddamn funny.
And furthermore, instead of playing up the typical teenage losers-verses-populars debate, The Inbetweeners focuses on a gang of guys who fall somewhere,...

MTV's comedy "The Inbetweeners" focuses on four boys navigating high school in a hormone-induced haze.
They're just above the bottom of the social caste system and consider themselves superior to the kids who can't even get a table at lunchtime. At least they have one another.
Premiering Monday, Aug. 20, the show is a takeoff on a British series of the same name, but show runner Brad Copeland ("Arrested Development" "My Name Is Earl") says this series' voice is distinct from the original.
"It is definitely an Americanization and a different tone," Copeland tells Zap2it. "The crudeness that works with an English version didn't work with the American version."
There is, however, a definite level of crudeness; after all, this is a show about teenage boys. The characters are distinct. Will (Joey Pollari) is bizarrely natty for a high-school sophomore, carrying a leather briefcase instead of a worn backpack. He's the new kid,...

Seeking to emulate the success of the British television series of the same name, MTV’s new comedy series The Inbetweeners introduces us to a quartet of young men struggling to navigate the trials of high school. For everyone who survived high school, one recalls acutely how thorny, and at times hilarious, the social structure is for those four pivotal years.
In this ribald and rambunctious series, Will McKenzie (Joey Pollari) dares to make the move from private school to public school only to find that making new friends is trickier than he imagined. Quickly taken underwing by a well-meaning trio, Will discovers his new friends are perhaps not the most socially-polished, but they have good intentions and soon Will’s world becomes the epicenter of the wacky adventures of Simon, Jay and Neil, along with the girl who has caught their eye, Carli.

As MTV's scripted slate continues to grow, the teen-friendly network introduces a fresh take on the beloved UK comedy The Inbetweeners. Playing the four sex-obsessed teenagers in the remake are Bubba Lewis as Simon, Joey Pollari as Will, Zack Pearlman as Jay and Mark L. Young as Neil. The boys stopped by The Hollywood Reporter's cover lounge to discuss their new series, which many have likened to a male version of MTV's Awkward. "The Inbetweeners" is one of the most beloved British comedies of the past decade, managing to garner enough international appeal to amass a sizeable cult following in the Us during its three-season run. So naturally, when MTV announced it was planning to adapt the series for American audiences, outrage ensued. (Especially after the "Skins" debacle.)
Luckily, the show has retained much of the charm of its predecessor without wholly retreading its steps. Similar to the way Showtime's "Shameless" utilized plots from the UK version before forging its own path, the Us "Inbetweeners" will use certain stories as springboards before heading in an original direction, usually riffing on the most embarrassing elements of the high school experience in a similar way to MTV's other charming teen comedy, "Awkward."

The Inbetweeners: Watch the First Two Minutes of the Series Premiere
They say that you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family, but new kid at Grove High Will McKenzie (Joey Pollari) didn't get to choose his friends either. In the series premiere of MTV's remake of British comedy The Inbetweeners, Will gets assigned a group of guys to show him around school and they don't exactly give him the warmest reception. Neither does the rest of the student body, though, which isn't the greatest sign for the young man going forward.
The Inbetweeners also stars Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman, Mark L. Young, Alex Frnka, and Brett Gelman. The show will follow the journey of the four guys (Will, Jay, Neil, and Simon) as they make the transition to adulthood and try to gain a little popularity in a high school where they're pretty much invisible.

The Inbetweeners Sneak Peek: Painted Driveways and Kurt Cobain
Can the nobodies finally become somebodies?
That's the question that The Inbetweeners, MTV's remake of the acclaimed British comedy of the same name, will be trying to answer when it debuts later this month. The show will be following four high school boys trapped in popularity purgatory; they're too cool to be losers and too loser-y to be cool, the kids that float through high school without leaving much of an impression. In the sneak peek for the series premiere, though, they're looking to change that once and for all.
In the preview, Simon (Bubba Lewis) makes a grand romantic gesture to his crush in an attempt to get her to notice him for the first time. Granted, it's not exactly "hold up your boombox while a Peter Gabriel song plays" romantic; the young man paints a giant heart on popular girl Carly's driveway,...

Iain Morris, co-creator of the British TV show, will write and direct the Us version of the movie
UK actors have been taking all the plum roles in Hollywood recently, and now it seems we're set to export some good old-fashioned British teenage debauchery to the Us. The Inbetweeners, the Channel 4 television show about four sex-obsessed home counties adolescents that became the highest grossing comedy film in UK history last year when it was remade in movie form, is to be adapted for American audiences on the big screen.
Iain Morris, who co-created the original series with Damon Beesley, has been employed by studio Paramount to write and direct the Us version of the film, which is as yet untitled. Prior to that, the British movie will arrive in Us multiplexes on 7 September. Not to be outdone, MTV is debuting its Us television take on the series on 20 August, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

It hit U.K. cinemas last summer and went on to become the third highest grossing film of the year in that territory, with a staggering $71 million take at the domestic box office (placing behind only “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part Two)” and “The King’s Speech” in 2011). It wasn’t a Hollywood blockbuster, but rather the big-screen spin-off of a smutty teen comedy, which had aired just 18 half-hour episodes on a niche British TV Channel, E4. “The Inbetweeners Movie” was a surprise success to say the least, and on September 7th it will be time to see whether U.S. audiences react as positively to the four lads who embark on a holiday filled with “sun, sea, sex, booze, sex, minge, fanny and tits...and booze...and sex.”
The red band trailer for the U.S. release has debuted online and warns audiences to “Watch out” because “The British are Coming.

A first look promotional image from MTV’s The Inbetweeners USA remake has made its way online.
The image above shows our favourite band of misfits who have been Americanised for a whole new audience. From left to right we have Simon (Bubba Lewis), Will (Joey Pollari), Neil (Mark L. Young) and Jay (Zack Pearlman) portraying the clueless foursome made famous in the E4 comedy by Joe Thomas, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and James Buckley.
The major differences in the first look image are the appearances of Neil and Jay. The former has been given an upgrade of a significant amount of hair and the latter has been translated to America as a goofball who wouldn’t look out of place in The Three Stooges. Simon and Will aren’t too dissimilar from what we remember them to be, Will with his briefcase and Simon even with his signature yellow car door in his hand.

'Modern Family' patriarch Ed O'Neill said he was misquoted in a recent article that alleged he didn't think Jane Lynch deserved her Emmy for playing Sue Sylvester on the Fox hit 'Glee.'
A TV Guide Canada story earlier this week (which has since been retracted) quoted O'Neill as saying "I love Jane, honestly I do. I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part. [Sue Sylvester] is just a one-note character."
However, the actor told Entertainment Weekly, "I never said those words and transcripts of the press conference attest to that fact. ... I absolutely never said, nor do I believe that Jane -- whom I think is an enormous talent -- was undeserving of the award."
