Despite the current season of Supergirl unfolding somewhat slowly, the producers very much picked up the pace with this past Monday’s episode, “Dark Side of the Moon.” In it, we not only learned that a Kryptonian city, Argo, survived the rest of the planet’s destruction, but that Kara’s mother, Alura, is still alive!
What’s more is that Anjali Jay’s character, Serena, is among the living as well. To this point, we’d seen her only as a construct appearing in Reign’s Fortress similar to Alura’s that’d been interacting with the Girl of Steel for the past few years. Needless to say, this is quite the game-changer.
Up until recently, The CW had been holding off on any kind of spoilers pertaining to season 3’s penultimate episode, “Make It Reign,” but now we have some images hinting at what’s to come. And...

To say that last night’s episode of Supergirl delivered some unexpected moments is quite the understatement. Sure, Kara may not have learned the true identity of Reign, but she did come pretty close. Still, the death of Livewire and the introduction of a new Worldkiller, Purity, are moments we won’t soon forget.
Next week, it looks as though the series may stray away from the Legion of Super-Heroes – at least for the moment – and instead focus on a few other unfolding situations. For starters, we can expect the battle between Morgan Edge and Lena Luthor to continue. Even having been explored sporadically thus far this season, our guess is that this thread will somehow be woven into the greater tapestry before long.
Speaking of which, it appears that Sam will continue to experience a struggle within, as her Reign persona will continue to come and go. In the past,...

Back in season 2, Supergirl writers aimed to spice up James Olsen’s character by having him take up crime-fighting under the guise of Guardian. However, fans didn’t take to the change much and it seems the writers themselves got bored of the development. In season 3, James hasn’t suited up once as the chrome-domed vigilante. Well, at least until now, that is.
In the upcoming eleventh episode, titled “For Good,” Mehcad Brooks’ character will finally step out from behind his desk at CatCo to dish out some justice as Guardian once again. As these new promo images from the outing reveal, he’ll suit up to take on corrupt businessman Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar), who’s been causing trouble in National City since the season premiere.

Even though we have a few days to go until some of our favorite DC TV shows return for the back half of the current season, we’re able to peer ever so slightly into the future now that more synopses are creeping online. Don’t forget, episode descriptions tend to make their rounds three weeks ahead of time, but thankfully don’t really spoil whatever episodes come before.
First, let’s talk about Supergirl.
On January 29, it looks as though the series may stray away from the Legion of Super-Heroes – at least for that week – and instead focus on a few other unfolding situations. For starters, we can expect the battle between Morgan Edge and Lena Luthor to continue. Though the summer hiatus felt like an eternity, we can now breathe easier with the fall season of DC TV being back in full swing. Not only that, but synopses for episodes set to air during week 5 have now surfaced online, including those for Supergirl and The Flash.
First, on Monday, November 6, corrupt businessman Morgan Edge will once again prove to be a thorn in the side of Supergirl and her cohorts. This time, he’s causing headaches for Lena Luthor by saying that she’s responsible of a string of lead poisonings in National City. If you’ll recall, her involvement in taking down the Daxamite invasion in last spring’s finale by building the lead bomb was crucial, but it sounds like he’ll sow enough doubt in Lena to make her second guess those valiant efforts.
In addition to seeing what else Adrian Pasdar can bring to the role of Edge,...

Despite having Superman Lives escape his grasp two decades ago, Kevin Smith has done well for himself in the time since. Not only has he gone on to write comic books highlighting the exploits of Daredevil, Green Arrow and Batman, but he also had the good fortune of directing two episodes of The Flash in recent years.
But after overseeing two pivotal installments featuring the Scarlet Speedster, Smith set his sights on National City. Not wasting any time, he handily helmed two episodes of Supergirl during its sophomore season. And although they didn’t lack the emotional resonance that was seen in his Flash offerings, they turned out to be visual effects spectacles, each being an achievement when it came to thrilling science fiction experiences on television.
Naturally, you’d think “the Fatman” would move on to Arrow since he’s already written for that character, albeit in another medium,...

With mere hours to go until a brand new episode of Supergirl is set to air, the network has put out a teaser clip showing the Maiden of Might confronted by returning foes in Metallo and Lillian Luthor.
Now, we’ve known for a little bit that the Luthor matriarch would be putting in another appearance and that the Cadmus threat isn’t totally behind us, but given the recent knowledge that Lena is behind bars for some reason, it looks as though this footage takes place after some kind of jailhouse switcheroo.
Personally, I’m interested to see if the Cadmus arc will be wrapped up in this episode or sometime soon because a larger threat is seemingly looming involving that mysterious alien race that has been popping up lately. And, from what we can gather, it will have everything to do with the recently cast Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo,...

In the promo for the next episode of Supergirl, it was heavily teased that Lex Luthor would finally be making an appearance in The CW series. Unfortunately, we now know that’s not the case as a new batch of images reveal that it’s actually her mother that Lena is visiting. However, with Metallo set to break the Cadmus leader out, Lex may still have some company behind bars.
As you can see, Lena (who’s served as an ally to the Girl of Steel so far) ends up being imprisoned when she’s blamed for that, and while there’s a very good chance she’s innocent, you have to believe this could sour the budding friendship between her and Supergirl.
For more on what to expect from this episode – titled “Luthors” – here’s the officially released synopsis:

Although it seems much of Earth-38’s mythology concerning supervillains began with Kara’s emergence as Supergirl, some key components are far behind us, such as Lex Luthor’s heyday. But that only makes sense when you consider that he’s Superman’s archnemesis, not the heroine this series focuses on.
Still, that hasn’t stopped the producers from introducing Lena and Lillian Luthor, Lex’s sister and mother, respectively, on the show. And from what we can tell, it’s the family matriarch whom Lex shares most in common with in this particular universe.

Despite being set in a world where Superman exists, Supergirl has often had to dance around the fact that the Man of Steel is part of this corner of the DC Extended Universe. During season 1, we caught only a glimpse of his arm or foot, and while he appeared in the first two episodes of season 2, Clark Kent’s been nowhere to be seen since.
That’s mostly because Henry Cavill is playing him on the big screen, but could Supergirl be about to introduce an alternate take on Lex Luthor? We know that Jesse Eisenberg will reprise the role in Justice League, but the promo above points to a new version showing up for a confrontation with his sister Lena as he continues rotting behind bars since being put there by Superman.

Now that DC TV is back in full swing, we continue looking ahead at what each series has to offer for the remainder of the season. Whether it’s the introduction of a possibly new Black Canary on Arrow or knowing Kevin Smith will return this spring to direct another episode of Supergirl, there’s much to be excited about.
When it comes to the week Valentine’s Day occupies, it looks like there won’t be as much new material to look forward to. As it turns out, both The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be taking the week off, which is actually a smart move by the network when you consider that said shows would have been slated to air on Valentine’s Day itself and many potential viewers may have romantic plans of their own.
