Rap legend Tupac Shakur’s ring has become “the most valuable Hip Hop artifact ever sold at auction” after bidding topped $1 million (Rs 8.20 crore).
The ‘California Love’ hitmaker wore the custom gold, ruby and diamond crown piece during his final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, just a week before he was shot dead, and it has now sold for an unprecedented $1,016,000, far exceeding the $300,000 estimate it was expected to fetch, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Cassandra Hatton, Sotheby’s Global Head of Science and Popular Culture, said in a statement, “This one-of-a-kind, custom ring was meticulously designed by Pac and is among the final products of his boundless creative energy – a unique artifact from a period of time that is a testament to his enduring influence on Hip Hop”.

If a local village warlord discovers he’s in a movie titled Goliath, he better watch his back. It doesn’t matter what his origin story is—and Poshaev (Daniyar Alshinov) has a bloody one—when power is never absolute. Yes, the villagers hail him as a hero for using his formidable presence to extort jobs for the community at a foreign investment firm’s tungsten mine. Yes, he works to keep drugs out of his domain by ruthlessly gunning down any rival gangs who dare to bring it across his borders. He’s still just a man, though. Still at the whims of those he trusts to stand by his side with guns in their hands. They’re the ones to worry about. They’re the ones with something to gain.

This article contains The Falcon and the Winter Soldier spoilers and potential spoilers for the wider MCU.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 3 might end up being remembered as the turning point of the series. A slow burn first episode led to some bigger revelations in the second one, but the third episode of the Marvel series is a bona fide sequel to one of the biggest MCU movies of all time in Captain America: Civil War. With a truly triumphant return for Sharon Carter and the re-introduction of Baron Helmut Zemo in a form that should feel much more recognizable to fans of the comics, there’s plenty of Marvel action to be had in “Power Broker.”
Here’s what we found…

Tom Hanks took to the stage last weekend as we’ve never seen him before — in a fat suit as a barreling and rambunctious drunk.
No, he wasn’t appearing in a “Saturday Night Live” skit, but instead bringing one of William Shakespeare’s most iconic comedic characters to life: John Falstaff in the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles’ production of “Henry IV,” now playing through July 1.
While the Oscar winner consistently captivated in his L.A. stage debut as the overweight, vain and boastful cowardly knight who befriends the future king of England, the outdoor setting for the play could not have been more tranquil.

Ask a certain crowd of people what the defining MTV show of their childhood was, and it’s not Trl, or Real World or Jersey Shore. It’s Daria. Though Ms. Morgendorffer had been seen on Beavis and Butt-Head before, the March 3, 1997, premiere of Daria proved that the two shows couldn’t be more different. Let’s take a fond trip back to Lawndale for a closer look at the best animated misanthrope of the ‘90s.
1. B&B-h creator Mike Judge had no involvement in Daria …
Judge agreed to release the character, but that’s where his involvement with the show ended.

The film shines a spotlight on Italy in a way Matteo Renzi won't – which is why the Italian media has panned it
Paolo Sorrentino's latest film, The Great Beauty, and Matteo Renzi's appointment as the prime minister of Italy, are probably the most significant recent events in Italian culture and politics.
Even though Renzi belongs to the same political establishment that has been running the country for decades, most Italian newspapers praise him as the man capable of breaking the deadlock in which the nation has found itself since Silvio Berlusconi took power more than 20 years ago. The reaction to Sorrentino's movie has been very different. Although it has won a Golden Globe, a European Film Award, and a Bafta for best foreign language film – and could be honoured with an Oscar this weekend – it has been heavily criticised throughout the Italian media. When is the right time to walk away from a project or job? And what about all your fears of leaving? We continue our Leadership Hall of Fame series, a year-long look at the top business books and authors, with an excerpt from The 4-Hour Workweek, written by Tim Ferriss.
"All courses of action are risky, so prudence is not in avoiding danger (it's impossible), but calculating risk and acting decisively. Make mistakes of ambition and not mistakes of sloth. Develop the strength to do bold things, not the strength to suffer." -Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince
Some jobs are simply beyond repair.
Improvements would be like adding a set of designer curtains to a jail cell: better but far from good. In the context of this chapter, "job" will refer to both a company if you run one and a normal job if you have one. Some recommendations are...

Producer of Pier Paolo Pasolini's early films
Though an enterprising film producer, often ahead of his times, Alfredo Bini, who has died aged 83, is best remembered for having given the poet Pier Paolo Pasolini the chance to make his debut as a film-maker with Accattone (1960), when no other film company was prepared to back it. Bini produced more than 40 films, including all the features made by Pasolini up until 1967, including Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo (The Gospel According to St Matthew, 1964). Among his other films were many starring his wife, Rosanna Schiaffino.
Bini was born in Livorno, Tuscany, and, during the second world war, ran away from home to join the army. He was wounded and got a medal, but went back to finish his studies in biology. He soon gave up the idea of a scientific career and in 1945 moved to Rome, where, after taking on various jobs, he managed a theatre group.

Waka Flocka Flame knew naming his debut album Flockaveli would invite fans to compare him to Tupac Shakur, who had adopted the name Makaveli as an homage to Italian philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli just before his first posthumous album was released. But the Gucci Mane protégé said the Shakur album title inspired him to seek out the writer's work.
Waka said he shares Machiavelli's tactics, which were famously chronicled in his book "The Art of War."
"Tupac introduced me to the [writing] of Machiavelli," Waka told MTV News. "That's why I made that. I can't just, 'Oh, Tupac did that, so I'm gonna do that too.' If people read, they would love that man. That man is a mind-game genius. I read the Machiavelli war-tactic books,...

Italian model and film actor, she left the cinema and joined the jet set
Rosanna Schiaffino, who has died aged 69, was one of those Italian beauty queens who began a promising acting career in the post-neorealist cinema of the 1950s. She gave up the cinema in the 1970s and married the handsome playboy and steel industry heir Giorgio Falck. Their marriage and, a decade later, their break-up and divorce, had overtones of melodrama more piquant than the content of any of the 45 films in which Schiaffino had starred.
She was born in Genoa, in north Italy, into a well-off family and, although her father wanted her to pursue studies as a surveyor, her mother encouraged her showbusiness ambitions, helping her to study privately at a drama school and then to take part in beauty contests, which she usually won. These led to modelling jobs, with photographs in important magazines, including Life.

When Robert Greene published "The 48 Laws of Power" he had no idea the book would become a mega cult classic--and not just amongst business types. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson credits Greene's work with his success. But the single most defining moment in 50's life, he says, is when he completely let go of his fear. Fear nothing, and you shall succeed. This is the basic tenant of "The 50th Law," the groundbreaking collaboration between 50 and Greene.

Lewis Carroll was a master of bizarre fantasy, willful illogic, and headstrong characters. Not surprisingly, that often makes his shape-shifting prose relevant to present-day concerns. Consider Alice’s fall down the rabbit hole:
The rabbit-hole … dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down what seemed to be a very deep well.
Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her, and to wonder what was going to happen next. …
Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end?
– Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
If we were focused on the broader world, we’d note how woefully applicable this passage is to the current economic crisis — will the fall never come to an end?
Or we might...
