- Steven McMichael was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. At the age of 19 he joined the US Marine Corps and graduated Platoon Honorman - yes, he was a Hollywood Marine. He was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii, where he served in the Presidential Color Guard. Steven served in Operation Desert Storm (1991) and reached the rank of Sergent.
Now a landed immigrant in Canada, Steve calls Cochrane, Alberta home. Since 1995 Steve has worked internationally as a stunt performer, fight choreographer, stunt coordinator and second unit director.- IMDb Mini Biography By: L. McMichael

- He has been credited with pioneering and being the first true acrobatic martial art film fighter in Canada. Coming from the competitive martial arts scene of the 1980s and 90s (NASKA / NBL). Steve was trained in Wushu during the early 1980s by 5 time North American NASKA champion Peter Morales with subsequence training by Beijing Wushu and Jet Li team members Li Jun Hung and Yu Sho Wen.
- Former United States Marine Corps 1989-1994 (Served in Operation Desert Storm).
- Since 1995 he has provided the Canadian film industry with a seamlessly integrated fighting style for film comprised of Wushu, Tae Kwon Do and elements of Capioera. The combination of these three high impact, high flying and dynamic styles are called North American Freestyle.
- His performing career was cut short in Oct of 2003; while doing a stunt and added with the accumulation of past injuries broke his neck. After a two year absence he is back and stronger than ever, but this time as a coordinator.
