- Félix Mesguich was born on September 16, 1871 in Algeria. He was a director and cinematographer, known for Nice: Panorama sur la ligne de Baulieu à Monaco (1901), Dance espagnole par 'La Belle' Otero (1898) and Panorama de la ligne de Cauteréts: Le tunnel (1901). He died on April 25, 1949 in Paris, France.
- Once escorted from Russia, in 1898, while on tour showing the Lumière Cinematograph. He'd inadvertently filmed a Russian officer dancing with Caroline de Otero and had offended the Russian army for turning its officer into a "music-hall dancer".
- Filmed Switzerland's wine growers' festival (25th August 1905) using a long-focus lens.
- [on the Lumiere brothers] As I see it, the Lumiere brothers had established that true domain of the cinema in the right manner. The novel, the theater, suffice for the study of the human heart. The cinema is the dynamism of life, of nature and its manifestations, of the crowd; and its eddies. All that asserts itself through movement depends on it. Its lens opens on the world.
