Prince Charles “comes alive” around his grandchildren, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
But the future king gets less time with them than Princess Kate‘s parents, Carole and Mike Middleton.
Though some in Charles’s inner circle question why he doesn’t get as much time with his grandchildren as Kate’s parents do, the Prince of Wales himself sees the situation more logically.
“He is pragmatic about it,” a royal insider tells People in this week’s cover story. “He is accepting that a daughter gravitates toward her own family.”

Kate Middleton got a distinguished royal title when she wed Prince William in 2011. But will the Duchess of Cambridge's father, Michael Middleton, become the beneficiary of a similar honor after his daughter delivers the future monarch? Well, don't start calling him Lord Middleton just yet: Despite breathless speculation that Michael, 62, could be granted earldom to elevate him and his family's stature in the wake of Kate's producing a royal heir, officials tell E! News that royal watchers might want to stop holding their breaths—at least for now. Britain's Duchess of Cambridge's father could get a royal peerage. Michael Middleton is rumoured to be in line to receive an earldom by Queen Elizabeth once his daughter Catherine and Prince William's first child is born, in order to unite the royal family for the sake of the future heir. This will mark the first time in 1,000 years that the grandfather of a future sovereign has not had an official title, and the only other non-titled grandfather, the father of Edward IV's wife Elizabeth, was subsequently given an earldom. The Crown Office confirmed to the MailOnline: 'Hereditary peerages have not been discontinued. It is just that they are rarely created these days. Most recent is Prince William's own peerage...

Finally! Kate Middleton’s baby bump made its debut on Jan. 11, when Kate was present for the unveiling of her first official portrait!
Kate Middleton displayed the first signs of pregnancy at the unveiling of her first official portrait on Jan. 11 — we could see her baby bump!
Kate, 31, looked glowing at the National Portrait Gallery, where her portrait was unveiled. Despite Kate’s thin frame, we spotted a baby bump as Kate turned sideways for photos!
For the event, Kate wore an elegant burgundy chiffon dress and her trusty black court shoes.
Aside from the one time that Kate let her baby bump show, she kept her hands over her midriff through most of the day. Kate appears to be very self conscious about showing off her baby bump.
Kate, who was accompanied by Prince William at the event, is believed to be 12 weeks along.

The family of the bride often picks up the tab at the wedding, but was it unfair for the royal family to have Kate Middleton’s folks absorb $500,000 of the wedding costs?
Kate Middleton‘s parents may be happier than anyone the Royal Wedding is finally over — it is rumored to have cost them almost $500,000! The Daily Mail reports, “As speculation intensifies over the family’s wealth, inquiries have revealed that the wedding has cost them at least £250,000.” Or, roughly $420,000. That’s one Very pricey weekend wedding.
Among the costs were the family’s rooms at the Goring Hotel as well as the price of two parties, a buffet two days before the wedding for 120 guests and an even more extravagant party the night of the wedding! “Even if some Middleton guests paid for their rooms and the family secured a discount they will still be facing a bill approaching £100,000,” according to the Mail.

Pippa, Kate’s sister, may be headed for a new job as Kate’s lady-in-waiting.
