In September 2019, Miller celebrated more than 30 years in railroad management, including more than a decade as a senior Company Officer overseeing safety, training, qualification and certification, and regulatory compliance programs for short line and regional railroads. His railroad journey has taken him across the United States, working in the Texas and New Mexico oilfields during the petroleum boom earlier this decade...establishing a commuter passenger service in New York State...managing the re-emergence of a pair of railroads in the rugged Arizona copper fields...and developing rail industry safety and training programs that are now industry standards.
When the Sarah Jones/Midnight Rider tragedy struck in 2014, Art became a leading voice for enhanced safety on railroad locations. Miller was honored to be selected by the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) and the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) to develop and present rail safety programs.
