Alex Ross Perry has the music video directing bug. Last month, the independent film writer-director co-directed his first music video, for the duo Sleigh Bells’ “I Can Only Stare,” sharing duties with the band’s Derek E. Miller. The experience taught him an important lesson: making music videos is fun.

“I’m really excited about it, and now I know it’s something that I’m interested in,” Perry told IndieWire in a recent interview. “I would almost aggressively pursue further opportunities to do things like this.”
The song for the video comes from Sleigh Bells’ new album “Jessica Rabbit,” released Friday. The band approached Perry to co-direct the video after seeing his 2015 film “Queen of Earth” and using it as inspiration for their video “It’s Just Us Now,” the first single from “Jessica Rabbit.”

Miller. The song is titled “I Can Only Stare” and it’s off their upcoming album “Jessica Rabbit.” The video was shot in 16mm and it features singer Alexis Krauss playing three different women. Watch it below.

15) Out Of The Game – Rufus Wainwright
Director: Phillip Andelman
The mere presence of the fantastic Helena Bonham Carter is the reason this video made the list. In this brilliant fantasy of a video the equally fantastic Rufus Wainwright gives a funny performance by embodying different personalities. The two of them together is a visual treat full of wistful moments.
14) The Only Place – Best Coast
Director: Ace Norton
This fun video for the upbeat comeback single from Best Coast accompanies the love letter to California vibe the track has going on perfectly. The California-obsessed duo cruise around the state as we see them indulge in fun activities such as leave their mark, smash TVs and make blended beverages.
13) Blue Velvet – Lana Del Rey
Director: Johan Renck
As the face of H&M’s fashion collection for Autumn 2012, Renck and Lana teamed up for this beautifully eerie, Lynch-esque music video/advert.

Maya Rudolph was back at studio 8H for "Saturday Night Live" Feb. 18 and she brought with her another familiar face- Amy Poehler. The two revived their sketch Bronx Beat, Amy appeared an "Really? With Seth and Amy" during Weekend Update, and Maya took on both Beyonce and First Lady Michelle Obama.
Plus, the musical guest was a duo called Sleigh Bells. The duo is comprised of Derek E. Miller and Alexis Krauss. They performed "Comeback Kid" and "End of the Line" on "SNL" and have their second studio album due out Feb. 21, titled "Reign of Terror."
Overall, we thought it was a pretty solid episode. What did you think? Which sketch was your favorite?

Having already sufficiently fired up fans with a (thoroughly badass) teaser clip for their upcoming Reign of Terror album, Sleigh Bells are now revealing details about the disc — albeit in a slightly less radical way.
According to a press release issued by the band's publicist, Terror will hit stores February 14 (it's sure to be a bloody valentine) and features 11 tracks, with appropriately Sleigh Bells-y titles like "True Shred Guitar," "Demons" and "Road to Hell." It was produced by guitarist Derek E. Miller, and, as the press release puts it, features "songs that are as crushing and authoritative as their title suggests; they're effortlessly robust and heavier than any of the band's previous output ... the sonic equivalent of a beautiful shotgun to the head."
Now that's descriptive! The...

Brooklyn band unveils new album with a thoroughly badass teaser trailer.

When it comes time to reveal a thoroughly badass album title, there's really no other way to do it than with a thoroughly badass teaser trailer. And that's exactly what Brooklyn bashers Sleigh Bells just did, premiering an ominous, thundering clip for their new album ... which is called Reign of Terror.
The teaser opens with a scene of the Bells' Alexis Krauss sitting at a vanity mirror, very seriously combing her hair (while wearing a Marine Dress Uniform), then quickly switches to series of hectic, seizure-inducing live clips, interspersed with various shots of life-on-the-road ephemera (they apparently attended at least one Lsu football game) and in-the-studio hijinks (Bud Light! Guns! A mirrored skeleton mask!) It's all backed by a churning, chunky guitar track, which...

Sleigh Bells may only have one full-length album and a half an Ep to work from, but that doesn't bar them from providing main-stage, headliner-caliber performances time after time. That's what they achieved last night at the opening of Bonnaroo, as vocalist Alexis Krauss and guitarist Derek E. Miller whirligigged around the stage like janky Chinatown wind-up toys. The duo took the stage only after a full blaring of Queen's "We Will Rock You," the opening strains of Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere," segueing into a death metal track and into that wall of sound that's put the band on the map. They...

Austin, Texas — With a list of performers that includes not only Wiz Khalifa and insane L.A. rap collective Odd Future but the freakin' Foo Fighters too, the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards are shaping up to be a can't-miss show. So much so that you've got to feel sorry for some of the other acts on the bill ... they've really got to step it up.
Luckily, one of those acts, Brooklyn bashers Sleigh Bells, are up to the task. Or at least they sound like they are. Because when MTV News caught up with the dynamic duo on Tuesday during Woodies rehearsals, they were more than willing to reveal the details of their big performance.
