Katherine Parkinson (“The It Crowd”) and Youssef Kerkour (“House of Gucci”) have been tapped to lead upcoming Itvx comedy drama “Significant Other.”
The series, which will start filming in Manchester, U.K. next month, tells the story of Anna (Parkinson) and Sam (Kerkour). They are “two lonely neighbours in their mid-40’s, who embark on a hesitant, obstacle-filled relationship after drastic life events bring them together,” according to the logline.
After a drastic but fateful first meeting, their un-romantic relationship soon turns their lives around, with defensive Anna and emotionally vulnerable Sam finding they influence each other for the better.

Exclusive: Streaming service ChaiFlicks has acquired North American rights to three Israeli series from Shtisel and Fauda outfit Yes Studios.
ChaiFlicks, an SVOD service specializing in Jewish and Israeli entertainment, is lining up fall releases for Checkout, Significant Other and Asylum City, which will all be shown with subtitles.
Checkout, a ratings hit comedy created by Nadav Frishman and Yaniv Zohar and produced by July-August Productions, follows the antics of a diverse cast of customers and staff at a struggling Israeli supermarket. The cult sitcom’s third season is now airing on Israel’s public broadcaster Kan 11 and is on pace to become the channel’s most watched TV series. The show was nominated for an International Emmy and won Best Comedy at the Israeli TV Academy Awards. We’re told that local adaptations of the original format are currently in development in multiple countries.

The Berlin International Film Festival’s annual co-production market has unveiled the 37 feature film projects that will form this year’s selection.
There are 22 projects taking part in the Official Selection, including new films from Boo Junfeng, whose The Apprentice premiered at Cannes in 2016, and Uberto Pasolini, whose credits as a director include Still Life and Machan, and as a producer include The Full Monty.
