Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was an astounding success last year in the box office and this year during the awards season. The story was gripping, with some absolutely brilliant performances, and an equally fitting director who left no stone unturned to make a cinematic masterpiece.
Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer
World War movies are sometimes a hit and miss, but this one completely knocked it out of the park. Oppenheimer was praised for its story, as well as execution, and has been a fan favorite for a while. And it looks like we will have another World War II drama in our hands soon.
Nuremberg Is a Oppenheimer and Man of Steel Crossover
Director James Vanderbilt is bringing the story of the Nuremberg trials to life, with a brilliant cast attached to the project. The movie is based on yet another book, this one being The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, Nuremberg by Jack El-Hai.

Long before he confused the heck out of all of us with "Tenet," Christopher Nolan was producing scripts so perplexing that even veterans like Leonardo DiCaprio and Guy Pearce didn't understand them. Tom Hardy has admitted to taking a leap on the script for "Inception," which he claimed was a "bit complicated," and Nolan even confused himself by including a famous line in "The Dark Knight" that he didn't understand.
So, even if you're a Nolan fan, you're likely used to being befuddled by the director's efforts. But the man basically announced his arrival in Hollywood as a filmmaker with a penchant for the perplexing. After self-financing his first film, "Following," which contained several Nolan trademarks including a non-linear narrative, the director found himself with a modest budget for his studio debut, "Memento." Rather than dispose of any complex filmmaking techniques for this film, however, Nolan refused to dumb things down,...

One of Hollywood’s most prominent faces, Robert Pattinson, boasts a stellar career with the Twilight Saga and Matt Reeves’ The Batman standing out as the crowning jewels. However, like many other actors in the industry, he too had his share of struggles in the past before making it big. Born in London, the star faced a tough time in cracking his way into showbiz. Already possessing prowess with acting, he also resorted to the territory of extending his wit to make it through.

Hilariously enough, the 38-year-old has admitted to lying on his resume and fabricating stories to clinch roles before becoming a popular face alongside the Kristen Stewart starrer movies. Moreover, one of his stories also involved a working member of the British royal family, Prince William, into the mix, and outrageously enough, many fell for his story.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Insomnia was Written and Narrated by Mike Holtz, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
In 2002, Christopher Nolan directed a film set in a small town in Alaska where the sun doesn’t go down for days at a time. The film starred the great Al Pacino as a once again decorated but tortured Detective at full Heat level intensity, squaring off against the legendary Robin Williams in an against-type role as a creepy, cerebral murderer of a teenage girl. When you think of Sean Connery, you probably think of either James Bond or Indiana Jones' dad. If you grew up in the '90s you might even think of that movie where he was on a submarine, or vaguely recall the marketing for a film where he played opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones. But there's no doubt that long before Connery was advising the "Hunt for Red October" director to rewrite the film's script, or complaining about "Entrapment" having too many special effects, he was best known as either England's greatest spy or as Dr. Henry Jones, Sr.
Still, when it comes to an actor as talented as Connery, not everyone thinks of these roles as his best. If you ask Christopher Nolan, for instance, he'll tell you that the Scottish star's finest performance came in Sidney Lumet's 1973 crime drama "The Offence," with Nolan recently celebrating the film for containing...

Christopher Nolan’s Tenet was one of the director’s more cerebral works, one that required some level of innovation when it came to the stuntwork. Nolan has been known to make films that routinely push the envelope in one manner or another, delivering a film that has a lot of heart with well-executed scenes, whether it be drama, action, tragedy, or comedy.
Robert Pattinson and John David Washington in Tenet
One of the most innovative scenes that were in Tenet was the reverse fight scene John David Washington participated. While it could have been the case that the director shot the scene the right way forward and then reversed it for the film, Nolan actually wanted the backward fight scene to be choreographed, which Washington revealed, was quite the challenge for the stunt workers, who had been in the film industry for quite some time.

Despite differing opinions on the SnyderVerse, one undeniable gem within it is Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Although it did get some mixed reviews back in the day, people have since then come to their senses. Widely hailed as a cinematic gem, this film flawlessly captures the essence of Superman.

Its brilliance is further accentuated by the subtle Easter eggs scattered throughout, adding depth and richness to the narrative. The Marvel vs. DC movie debate has been going on for a long time. Sometimes, even the actors and directors share their views on such matters. Years ago, Zack Snyder made a remark on MCU movies, especially Ant-Man and the Wasp. The superhero film, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena, was released in 2015. At that time, Snyder was working on his DC movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Christopher Nolan’s Inception was widely regarded as the celebrated director’s best movie before Oppenheimer, and it still holds its own against the march of time. Captivating, convoluted, and visually stunning, Inception takes its viewers for a bizarre ride in someone’s head alongside an experienced dream thief, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Dom Cobb. But as per Nolan’s nature, the movie’s finale is ambiguous.
Inception’s Has the Most Talked-About Ending
Christopher Nolan managed to truly break into his audience’s minds with Inception. During the course of the movie, we learn that Cobb has a special totem he spins to learn whether he’s in a dream or in the real world — but as he gets his happily ever after, the viewers get a decade of frustration because of the final scene’s uncertainty.

No matter how dire the circumstances, Batman is known for his unwavering “no-kill” code, which forbids him from taking a life in DC Comics. However, in Injustice God Among Us: Year Three, Bruce Wayne breaks his own rule to protect one of his dearest friends, Superman.
As everyone knows, the Joker from DC is one of the vilest, vicious, and most depraved supervillains. Nevertheless, Superman is restricted by the same code that keeps Batman from killing the Clown Prince of Crime. For similar reasons, both DC superheroes have strong moral codes prohibiting them from killing their enemies. Yet, in recent years, DC comic writers have endeavored to differentiate between the two.

Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey remain attached as producers under their Team Downey banner.
Both Netflix and Team Downey declined to comment.
McQueen’s vision involved a story about a renegade salvage expert’s search for Mayan treasure in the Yucatan Peninsula with him taking the lead. Before summer 2023, Robert Downey Jr. was primarily known as the Iron Man star, despite his impressive portfolio of lead roles. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer changed that, starring Rdj in a secondary but essential role that brought the actor a long-deserved Oscar — but even before that, Downey Jr. had some mighty impressive performances that didn’t see him fly around in a red-and-yellow tin can.

Directed by David Dobkin, 2014’s The Judge stars big-name actors like Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, and others. This criminal/legal drama follows a morally ambiguous lawyer who returns to his hometown to a father who resents him for his practices, but as the old man gets accused of murder, picks up his case despite father’s objections and intends to see it through no matter the cost.

Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered if any film could capture the awe-inspiring vastness of the cosmos? Many directors have soared through the stars in science fiction, but one visionary’s belief is as enduring as the galaxy itself. George Lucas, the renowned creator of the epic Star Wars, has a deep appreciation for a cinematic masterpiece that even his own galactic saga cannot match: Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
George Lucas [Photo: Joey Gannon/Wikimedia Commons]Lucas made cinematic history in 1977 with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, an instant classic that catapulted science fiction to the forefront of popular culture. Death is not permanent, not in the Multiversal saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe anyway. Of course, we have mourned the death of the beloved villain turned-hero with a glorious purpose, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki but we got him back with an even more interesting twist— further exploration of the character even without the inherent shadow of his brother, Thor, as depicted in the previous movies in the MCU.
Robert Dowmey Jr. as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
Like Loki’s apparent death, fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man demise was perhaps the saddest part for any MCU fan. There could have always been more from the character but killing him off in the Avengers: Endgame made perfect sense and his death was glorious but with Deadpool & Wolverine, a lot can change.

At some point I may stop sounding like a broken record, but for the moment, as a box office analyst covering the entertainment industry, it is hard not to hit the pessimism alarm. The summer season kicked off with an unfortunate whimper as Universal's very well-liked "The Fall Guy" opened to less than $30 million on opening weekend -- well below projections. That is, without exaggeration, the worst start to summer in decades. Sad to say, it isn't going to get any better any time soon. And I don't just mean through 2024. This past weekend, and other recent industry trends, have shown us that Hollywood has no clear, easy path forward. This summer merely seems like it's going to be illustrative of the larger problem.
Let's start with "The Fall Guy." We're talking about a movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, coming off of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer," respectively. Already well-liked stars,...

Lord of the Rings has shaped many a child’s life almost a century apart. Be it J. R. R. Tolkien’s literary series in the 1930s or Peter Jackson’s trilogies in the 2000s, the franchise has brought the world of epic high fantasy tales involving Elves, hobbits, kings, and wizards just a little bit closer to our fingertips.

However, while the audience and critics have been in love with Peter Jackson’s masterpiece, the filmmaker has been slaving away in his studio to come up with ways to make the world seem more realistic on screen, rather than a CGI-infested botched job. Sir Ian McKellen then gladly served himself up as the victim of the director’s experimentation.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy is considered one of the best Batman movies of all time. From its execution to the cinematic scenes and well-built characters, the movie not only perfectly captures the true essence of Batman but also gives a befitting end to the whole tale.

With Robert Downey Jr. finally winning an Oscar for Oppenheimer and co-starring in the acclaimed HBO miniseries The Sympathizer, Awfully Good Movies is looking back at Rdj’s first and failed attempt at a post-Marvel franchise in the failed family fantasy Dolittle!
Right after Tony Stark’s epic exit from the MCU, Downey hopped on to star in and co-produce alongside his wife Susan a new adaptation of Hugh Lofting’s children’s book series about the veterinarian who can talk all the languages of his animal patients, this time without any overlong musical numbers from Rex Harrison or silly mugging from Eddie Murphy. While Barbie and Oppenheimer were hogging the spotlight in 2023, a sneaky contender lurking in the shadows is now claiming its throne, and that is Chris Pratt’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie. After a decade and change playing superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sandbox, Robert Downey Jr. wants to remind everyone there's more to him than Tony Stark. In the years since permanently (?) retiring his MCU alter ego in "Avengers: Endgame," the actor has lined up an ambitious slate of projects. Between getting an Oscar for his supporting role in Christopher Nolan's Best Picture-winning "Oppenheimer" and pulling a Peter Sellers by tackling multiple colorful characters in Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar's "The Sympathizer" miniseries, it's fair to say Rdj the character actor is officially back.
As chance would have it, we're now 10 years removed from the last time Downey tried (but failed) to renew his acting bonafides with "The Judge." Directed by David Dobkin, the 2014 drama stars Downey as Hank Palmer, a big-shot lawyer from Chicago who returns to his podunk hometown in Indiana to attend his mother's funeral.

The Dark Knight Writer Expresses Interest in Doing a Fourth Movie - Main Image
Jonathan Nolan, the co-writer of The Dark Knight trilogy, recently expressed his interest in revisiting the franchise and doing a fourth movie.
For years, the Christopher Nolan-directed trilogy has been beloved by my fans with the second film considered to be one of the best comic book movies of all time and changed the genre forever.
While the people involved in the trilogy have seemingly moved on from the franchise, some fans are still wondering whether they will revisit that Batman universe once again in the future.

Emily Blunt got candid during a recent appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” (via People) about how she’s had to fake chemistry over the years with certain co-stars she just struggled to connect with on set. Blunt has acted opposite many high-profile leading men throughout her career, from Matt Damon (“The Adjustment Bureau”) to Tom Cruise (“Edge of Tomorrow”), Dwayne Johnson (“Jungle Cruise”), Ryan Gosling (“The Fall Guy”) and Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”).
“Have you wanted to throw up?” Stern asked Blunt about kissing some of her male co-stars during filming. The Oscar-nominated actor responded: “Absolutely. Absolutely.”
“I wouldn’t say it’s sort of extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it,” Blunt added.
Blunt declined to name any co-star she couldn’t generate chemistry with, but she did say: “I have had chemistry with people who… I have not had a good time working with them.

Ben Affleck has been one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood, and he has also made a mark as an acclaimed filmmaker. Having his breakthrough with the Oscar-winning drama Good Will Hunting, which he co-wrote with Matt Damon, Affleck rose to worldwide stardom as he headlined blockbusters and became a slough-after actor.
Affleck’s tryst with the superhero genre has been bittersweet. While his role as Daredevil has been regarded as cheesy, with the actor himself considering it a mistake, his role as Batman in the Dceu has been divisive. Now, the actor is rumored to be in the running for Doctor Doom in the MCU, which fans seem to be completely against.

The DC Animated Universe had a host of versions of Batman strewn across the timeline, but one DC film portrayed the character a little differently than what is usually the tone that is taken for him. Bruce Timm talked to ScienceFiction.com about how he saw Batman, and how one particular film approached the character differently.

Gotham by Gaslight is a film that is different than other Batman films, given that the story is set in an Elseworlds, which means it might not necessarily be part of the main Dcau continuity. The film takes Batman and sets him in Victorian London, where the story follows a completely separate trajectory from what is normally expected out of a Batman story.

‘Furiosa’ Composer Tom Holkenberg aka JunkieXL Teases Score with First Single, ‘Dementus Is Gaining’
We can already feel our theater seats shaking. This past Friday, “Furiosa” composer Tom Holkenberg (aka Junkie Xl) dropped a taste of his upcoming score for the film with the single, “Dementus Is Gaining”. The propulsive electronica track features a familiar trance-like beat that incorporates the sound of revving engines, but also has a noticeably more haunting quality than that of the score for “Mad Max: Fury Road”, implying a prequel that may have more of an emotional bite than its predecessor.
“My collaboration with the incredible George Miller began over a decade ago with our work on ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ a project that marked a pivotal moment in my career as a film composer,” says Holkenberg. “Returning to this world to score the odyssey of ‘Furiosa,’ an epic tale of survival, resilience and revenge has been just as eye-opening and gratifying. ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ is a...

Last year, this time around, the box office worldwide was no less than a ferocious battlefield. Releasing in July were two legendary films that were to change the course of the entertainment landscape: Oppenheimer and Barbie. Incredibly diverse and different, both ended up becoming blockbusters with the WWII epic bagging seven Oscars and dozens of other prestigious accolades.

While it left behind Barbie in the race for awards, it was also defeated by the pink odyssey at the box office. And as per recent updates, the movie suffers another blow, as far as revenues are concerned, by being defeated by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Back in 1981, Francis Ford Coppola risked everything with his musical One from the Heart to challenge the studios’ ways and revolutionize cinema. Unfortunately, it ended up being a box office disaster, which pushed him into a decade of financial turmoil. Moreover, its failure also led to Megalopolis, whose script he conceived around the same time period, being put on ice.
Since then, the legendary filmmaker has been working tirelessly to get his dream project greenlit, but the corporate heads at studios never gave it the get-go following its experimental nature. John Carpenter doesn’t get the hype around Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer.
“Oppenheimer was Ok. It was alright,” the Master of Horror said in an interview for music journalist Larry Fitzmaurice’s Last Donut of the Night newsletter. “Everyone’s praising it as the movie of the century — I don’t know about that.”
When asked if he liked Nolan’s movies in general, Carpenter responded, “Yeah, I guess, sure.”
However, Carpenter was impressed by Bradley Cooper’s “terrific” Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro, which he “enjoyed a great deal.”
Combined with his previous comments about Barbie, we can count Carpenter as among the relatively few moviegoers who didn’t get the Barbenheimer phenomenon as a whole. In October of last year, he said Barbie wasn’t for “my generation” and admitted the “patriarchy business” went “right over my head.”

John Carpenter wasn’t that impressed with Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”

Christopher Nolan never ceases to leave his audiences amused. Be it through the absolutely jaw-dropping masterpieces he creates for the big screens or simply the way he prefers to spend his life (which notably includes ‘without a smartphone’), the mastermind filmmaker somehow manages to leave his fans surprised down to the core in the most unimaginable of ways.

Recently, following the release of the Emma Stone-starrer critically acclaimed series The Curse, Nolan did the same. However this time, he didn’t stun and leave his fans confused and unable to believe it through some strange tactic. Instead, this time, it was simply through his reaction to the finale of the 2023 series, which he seems to have texted showrunner Benny Safdie about!

Chris Hemsworth is totally unrecognizable in his makeup and costumes in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The actor spent hours in the makeup chair each day, even donning a prosthetic nose and transforming himself into Dr. Dementus. The loud villain is far different from his Marvel character Thor, however, Hemsworth can’t seem to shake off one choice of attire for both roles. His Furiosa character also has to wear a cape, which he finds so impractical.
Chris Hemsworth was forced to wear a cape for his role as Dr. Dementus in Furiosa
Hemsworth grew up watching Mel Gibson’s original Mad Max movies and even desired to take over when Gibson moved on from the franchise. While the lead role in Fury Road eventually went to Tom Hardy, Miller was struck by Hemsworth when he auditioned him for the role of Dementus.

Emily Blunt’s first Oscar nomination was for the type of role the actress doesn’t normally play. Over the course of her career, the London-born actress has played badass action heroes, musical heroines, even delightfully bitchy supporting comic parts. But in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” Blunt goes into a totally different mode to play a embittered and humorless long-suffering wife type. It’s a jarring transformation; but, given her versatility, a predictably excellent one.
Born to a former actress and barrister in London, Blunt studied acting in boarding school and began her professional career at 18, when she debuted on a West End production of the play “The Royal Family.” In 2003 she transitioned to screen acting with the British miniseries “Boudica” and “Henry VIII,” before making her theatrical film debut as a haughty, arrogant rich girl in independent drama “My Summer of Love” in 2004.
2006 was her breakout year; she won...

10. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Whenever Stanley Kubrick is involved, you know there has to be something outstanding. 2001: A Space Odyssey follows an adventure to Jupiter where the astronauts have to oppose their board computer that tries to stop them…
But more than a good movie, it’s an unforgettable visual experience, an experiment in bizarre.
You can watch 2001: A Space Odyssey on Max, Netflix, and Prime Video.
9. Once Upon A Time In America (1984)
Sergio Leone’s Once Upon A Time In America isn’t special due to its captivating story of a small-time criminal turned mafia kingpin. The movie's sensational visuals could have been less impressive in our eyes, too — if not for the fact that in 1984, there was no CGI, and its stunning shots were all done with practical effects alone.
You can watch Once Upon A Time In America on Netflix and Prime Video.
