As the dawn of the new millennium approached, the world would start to see a trend of films that would become very mainstream. These types of movies are action horror video game adaptations. As stated in our previous video, there have been a number of different ones, but nothing stood out more than Resident Evil. In 2002, we were graced with the first in this series. It may not have been the critic’s favorite, but it did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel. The name of that sequel is Resident Evil: Apocalypse (watch it Here). With a title that big, you would think the filmmakers went for bigger, better and more destructive…right? For the most part, yes and they even packed in some surprises for fans of the series. So today on Horror Revisited we ask that you suit up and strap in for Alice...

It may seem hard to believe, but at one stage Resident Evil was not only the highest-grossing film series based on a video game, but also the highest-grossing horror film series period. Consisting of six movies and a reboot, the Resident Evil movies just kept making money even while they were being bashed by critics. Most of those critics arguably had valid points, but the arrival of a new Resident Evil movie simply became oddly comforting somewhere along the way.
Thanks to the creative voices of Event Horizon director Paul W.S. Anderson and his Fifth Element actress wife Milla Jovovich, six of the seven Resident Evil movies feature the character of Alice (Jovovich firing on all cylinders), a former security specialist and covert operative who initially has amnesia but eventually remembers she’s out to take down the insidious Umbrella Corporation, a global company responsible for Earth’s weirdest zombie apocalypse.

Capcom's perennially popular survival horror video game franchise "Resident Evil" has been adapted for both film and television over the years, in live-action and animation. The franchise's cinematic debut began in 2002, loosely following the original game's plot of specialists investigating the nefarious pharmaceutical company the Umbrella Corporation. This leads to Umbrella unleashing the T-Virus, a genetically engineered virus that transforms those infected into ravenous, undead zombies.
While the live-action films have handled the video game source material with varying amounts of fidelity and controversy, there has also been a line of CG animated movies set in the same continuity as the games. Successful worldwide, the "Resident Evil" movies have earned their fair share of fans, including devotees of the games and those new to the franchise. With plenty of films to choose from across the original movie series, 2021 reboot, and animated features, here are the best "Resident Evil" films ranked from worst to best.

Modernizing a classic is always a risky endeavor, especially when it comes to a game as beloved as Resident Evil 2, which is why most prestige studios tend to leave their backlogs alone beyond releasing remastered collections. Capcom has embraced revisiting the past and reimagining it for a new generation. The Resident Evil 2 remake was nothing if not a labor of love and one of the best releases of 2019. And in many ways, the latest Capcom horror remake is modeled after last year’s experiment.
The Resident Evil 3 remake brings another survival horror classic back from the dead, complete with a few improvements that audiences (and developers) could have only dreamed of in 1999. The game’s Raccoon City has been recreated with modern visuals, and the combat has been completely retooled with an over-the-shoulder camera and updated shooting mechanics.

Owing to the fact that Resident Evil 3 remake takes place in the very same zombie-infested locale as that featured in its predecessor, it’s without the slightest surprise that Capcom has taken advantage of the overlap with references and Easter eggs aplenty.
The majority of Jill Valentine’s Raccoon City nightmare might take place in the streets surrounding the famous Rcpd building but it goes without saying that you’ll be stopping by to visit the precinct for a short time. Unlike the 1999 original, however, it’s Ubcs mercenary Carlos Oliveira, not Jill, who’ll be making the danger-fraught journey in an effort to rescue one of their own from the jaws of certain death.
You won’t be able to explore the entire police department this time around, of course, though the main hall is open for business and exactly as you remember it. Well almost, anyway.

Resident Evil 3 might be a more action-oriented affair compared to its predecessor, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to escape Raccoon City without utilizing some all-important grey matter.
Once you’ve completed the remake’s prologue and reached the subway, your first task (given by the affable Carlos Oliveira) will be to restore the transport network’s power as a means of escape. That main objective is surprisingly straightforward, though you’ll want to take a detour off the beaten path upon emerging from the underground to score yourself some important bonus items. In order to earn said loot, you’ll need to locate three key items scattered throughout the starting Downtown area and return them to their rightful resting place.
Continue through the break below for tips on how to find the red, blue and green jewels.

Resident Evil 3 begins with a small live-action sequence meant to show the impact of the zombie invasion on Racoon City. It explains how the spread of a deadly virus has forced the Cdc to essentially put Racoon City on quarantine lockdown. All the while, we get the impression that confused citizens are trying to figure out what is happening as they try their best to avoid getting infected and infecting others.
It is, to say the least, a somewhat awkward setup in the age of the coronavirus. It’s not necessarily mean spirited or exploitative (that part of the story hasn’t changed much since the original game’s release in 1999) but it is a fascinating reminder of the situation we find ourselves in and how quickly things can change over the years. Although I wouldn’t call myself a super fan, I do quite enjoy the Resident Evil franchise. I’ve played pretty much every main entry in the series, from the very first all the way up to last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake. Shockingly, though, the much-lauded Resident Evil 3 was one of the few I missed out on. I’m familiar with the details, such as the reintroduction of Jill Valentine and the ever-present Nemesis, but most of the title is alien to me. This lapse is part of the reason why I jumped at the chance to cover this remake. The series has never been better, so what better time than now to experience such an iconic chapter?

Resident Evil 3 will finally hit digital and physical (though potentially later than expected for the latter) shelves in exactly one week and, just in case you weren’t already hyped enough, Capcom has released a brand new trailer for the remake. Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake is leading the impending onslaught of triple-a titles scheduled to arrive over the weeks and months ahead and fans, quite rightly, can’t wait to finally explore everything the zombie-infested Raccoon City has to offer. This time around, it’s the battle-hardened former S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine that’ll be attempting to make her escape from the doomed mountain town, hounded every step of the way by Umbrella’s ultimate bioweapon, Nemesis.
With a playable demo now available as of last week, survival horror lovers have already gotten a taste of what to expect in terms of gameplay, but what about narrative? We know that Jill, together with Ubcs mercenary Carlos Oliveira, is attempting to get the city’s subway system back...

The moment Resident Evil 3 fans have been eagerly anticipating is finally here.
Capcom has just released a brand new trailer for the upcoming remake which, besides providing further glimpses at heroes Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira, shines a spotlight on the monstrous Nemesis. As one of the villainous Umbrella Corporation’s most iconic creations, lovers of the 1999 original have been waiting on tenterhooks to witness how the Tyrant shapes up for the reimagined survival horror.
A batch of early preview images revealing new design changes – the addition of a nose and needle-like teeth – had many worried that the character would lose its fear factor, though rest assured, that’s certainly not the case. Don’t believe us? Check out the awesome trailer for yourselves above.

Capcom’s long-awaited Resident Evil 3 remake is due to arrive in just a few short months and, as was the case with last year’s stellar reimagining, fans should expect a number of changes over the original.
First and foremost, of course, is the introduction of a brand new multiplayer mode. Resident Evil Resistance (formerly Project Resistance) is a bespoke, asymmetrical affair that pits four survivors against one Mastermind featuring hordes of undead and biologically altered animals from the series’ past and present. Mr. X, Lickers, Cerberus: you’re going to have one hell of a time escaping from this particular nightmare, not least due to the player-controlled Mastermind hounding you every step of the way.
That’s the most major addition accounted for, then, but what else? Besides the immediately obvious – totally redesigned characters and environments – improvements, Capcom has revealed a number of further adjustments in a recent interview.

Similarly to this year’s installment in the famed survival horror series, Capcom is once again using motion capture technology for Resident Evil 3‘s main cast. Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira will be brought to life by real emotive humans rather than be crudely animated and once again, it seems, the developer has made a perfect choice.
A great deal of post-reveal discussion surrounding next year’s highly anticipated remake has centered around Jill’s redesign, with many fans noting the character’s drastic visual diversion from previous iterations. Historically, Canadian actress Julia Voth has served as the character model and inspiration for Jill’s appearance, a role that now belongs to another.
In revealing their involvement in the project over on Instagram, Russian model Sasha Zotova explains how she’s been honored to play such a cult character, going on to offer thanks to supportive fans for their “kindness and politeness.

Resident Evil 3 will rise from the dead for one last scare in 2020. Here's everything we know about this remake...
After the success of Resident Evil 2, a remake of the next game in the series was a foregone conclusion. Indeed, Resident Evil 3 is the next remake on Capcom's list, featuring modern graphics and all the other bells and whistles unlocked by current-gen hardware. While this announcement shouldn't come as a surprise, the reveal was further spoiled by a leak of the cover art earlier in December.
Resident Evil 3 was originally released in 1999, a continuation of the series that's often credited for truly kicking off the survival horror genre. The game stars Jill Valentine, who we first met in the 1996 original as a member of the Stars response team investigating the spooky Arklay Mansion, and an Umbrella operative named Carlos Oliveira. Capcom has reportedly been working on a Resident Evil 3 remake and are preparing for a surprisingly soon release.
It appears that a listing for the rumored Resident Evil 3 remake has been added to the backend of Psn.
These listings not only include the names Biohazard Re:3 and Resident Evil 3 but also feature what appears to be cover art for the supposedly upcoming title. That cover art showcases redesigns for Resident Evil 3's primary characters (Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira) while the titular Nemesis character looks roughly the same.
Information regarding this remake seems to originate from the YouTube channel Spawn Wave, but Eurogamer has since confirmed that their sources have reported similar information. Regardless, the details are roughly the same. Capcom has reportedly been working on a remake of the 1999 survival horror game Resident Evil 3 which is set to be released possibly as early as 2020.
