- Former newspaperman, the son of a physician. He was a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago, having already started out as a cartoonist at the age of 16. He later joined the Disney Organisation, where he worked from 1935 to 1953. He was reputedly the model for 'Doc' in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (which he directed).
