Film Factory has picked up rights to Luis Gabriel Beristáin’s revenge action thriller “The Gentleman,” a Spain-Mexico co-production starring an international cast led by Golden Globe-winner Ron Pearlman.
Produced by Spanish company Esto También Pasará and Mexican outfit Sdb Films (“The Deal”), shooting on “The Gentleman” is already underway in San Sebastián, Spain, and will run for six weeks. The film is scheduled to be released by Universal in Spain in 2025.
Uruguay’s Juma Fodde penned the film’s screenplay, which is adapted from Carlos Augusto Casas’ Spanish novel “Ya no quedan junglas adodnde regresar.”
“The Gentleman” turns on an aging former U.S. soldier named Theo (Perlman), who spends his days dreaming about better times that are now years behind him. Each week, Theo meets with Olga, a prostitute he pays to talk with him about who he once was and what he might have been under different circumstances.

Amazon Prime Fallout trailer has been released and fans are overjoyed with what they saw. Apart from the trailer being true to the video game franchise lore, fans are also equally pleased to see the star-studded cast.
One aspect of the trailer that caught the eye of the fans is the two very contrasting lives of its two protagonists. Lucy, the protagonist of the show, has lived her entire life in the Vault. Maximus, a.k.a. Max on the other hand has been raised above ground as part of the Brotherhood of Steel.
This contrast in the fortunes of its two protagonists is a subtle aspect of the Fallout TV show and one of the many reasons why fans are already in love with it.

In the world of action cinema, the Transformers series has always been a cinematic spectacle to behold. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the latest in this high-octane franchise, doesn’t stand out amongst the previous films as anything more than a cash grab. Hot off the heels of his fan-favourite Knives Out sequel, director Rian Johnson is releasing his debut TV series, Poker Face.
Starring Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne as show-lead Charlie Cale, a woman with an extraordinary ability to discern whether someone’s lying, the show follows Charlie as she hits the road, stumbling upon a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.
Here’s everything we know about Johnson’s highly anticipated TV series Poker Face, including its Glass Onion connection, all the expected celebrity cameos and more.
Will it be connected to Glass Onion?
At the moment, it is unknown what kind of Glass Onion Easter eggs might appear in the series.

He continued, “It is the same on Twitter [sic]. The trolls know they can push you around. It is never going to end. No one forces you to post politically. Your choice.”

It's morphin' time once again, but not for the Power Rangers. No, but the upcoming live-action film "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" finally has its first trailer — and those things morph, you know?
In the sneak peek, we meet "In the Heights" star Anthony Ramos and "Judas and the Black Messiah" star Dominique Fishback as our human leads ... and yes, that's definitely the legendary Ron Pearlman voicing a new Transformer character named Optimus Primal. Right, not quite Optimus Prime, but close. This new film is set to adapt the "Transformers" spin-off series "Beast Wars" for the screen for the first time, which sounds about right for the seventh film in just about any franchise. At that point, reinventing the wheel is key — and it seems as though "Beast Wars" is their shot at doing so 15 years after the first "Transformers" film was released.

Rian Johnson’s mystery series is readying its Poker Face.
The highly anticipated Peacock show marks the Knives Out and Star Wars: The Last Jedi director’s debut as TV creator and stars Natasha Lyonne. Up until now, not much has been known about what to expect beyond Johnson teasing the series as a character driven, case-of-the-week mystery.
“There’s been a murder, and I’m trying to figure out what happened,” says Lyonne’s starring character, scrappy protagonist Charlie Cale, in the teaser trailer (below). Billed as a mystery-of-the-week drama, the 10 hour-long episodes launch Jan. 26 with four episodes, followed by a weekly release on Thursdays.
The first look at the detective series from the minds of Lyonne and Johnson includes three photos of Lyonne’s Charlie, along with a teaser trailer that clocks in just under one minute. The footage introduces Charlie...

Everything is coming up “Pinocchio.”
The spring saw the release of the Russian-made animated film “Pinocchio: A True Story” featuring the voice of Pauly Shore as the puppet who wants to become real. Decider described it as as “Pinocchi-oh-no.” And then Disney+ premiered its new live action/CGI remake of the 1940 Disney animated classic “Pinocchio,” directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto this past Sept. Most critics thought it was rather “wooden.”
Looks like the third time is the charm with Guillermo del Toro’s stop-motion animated “Pinocchio.” It debuted to rave reviews at the BFI London Film Festival, and will get a limited release in November before streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 9. This version of Carlo Collodi’s beloved 1883 Italian novel “The Adventures of Pinocchio” is set in Fascist Italy of the 1930s and is based on Gris Grimley’s designs from his 2002 edition of the novel.

A first look of the rebooted Hellboy has been released by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola via Twitter. The image below is actor David Harbour as the half-demon hero and it looks really similar to Guillermo del Toro‘s and Ron Pearlman‘s take on the character.
Mignola’s tweet of the image was captioned with “Holy crap.” We take this as creator approval. Neil Marshall will direct the film which will have Hellboy going to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin’s consort and the Blood Queen. The film will star Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Ian McShane (American Gods), new comer Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell (The Vampire Diaries) and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-o) along side David Harbour.
We will definitely keep you posted on all news Hellboy related! Check back soon.

Three new characters are joining the fight in Injustice 2! Two, you might've already guessed but there's one we never saw coming! See the full reveal below!
Warner Bros. Interactive has done a nice job of consistently updating Injustice 2 with new brand-new characters. Not long ago, they added Red Hood, Sub-Zero, and the Op Starfire. Now, they're planning to add 3 more characters to the fight. From their silhouettes you might've already guessed Black Manta and Raiden, but you'd have to have the greensight to be have divined that none other than Hellboy would be part of Injustice 2, this September!
While completely unexpected, Hellboy is a welcome addition to the fighting game franchise. He's been a beloved character in Dark Horse Comics, for some time now, even before the two Ron Pearlman movies. With his amusing humor and, no doubt, hard-hitting moveset, it'll be no surprise if he's one of the more frequently used new characters.

Word is out that there are plans to relaunch the Hellboy movie franchise. This would be without the director and his star from the first two films, Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Pearlman. Instead, Stranger Things' David Harbour is in talks to take the lead and UK director Neil Marshall is in talks to direct. Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for a new installment that would reboot and relaunch the property. Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment is also producing. Neil Marshall, the horror director who broke out with The Descent and won raves for his work on Game of Thrones, is in talks to direct the project, which has a working title of Hellboy: Rise of...

This coming week, Marvel is issuing the second part of my work on Heroes For Hire and, as I did when the first volume came out, I thought I’d talk a little bit about it and why I made some choices that I did and what I was thinking when I created the stories.
Background info: my run on H4H began in 1997 and ran for 19 issues. The team was a corporate entity, hiring out groups of superheroes for various missions. Luke Cage and Iron Fist were the core, with the Original Human Torch, Jim Hammond, running the business. Lots of characters cycled in and out, the most constant being White Tiger, Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Black Knight and Thena of the Eternals. We also had lots of guest stars such as Hercules, Wolverine, Shang-Chi, She-Hulk and Deadpool who, not surprisingly, was featured on the cover.

Pacific Rim 2 has been slowly making strides forward. We’ve got new casting news on the sequel right here.
Man for a movie that officially got shelved it’s good to see such a turn around. We got the official release that actress Jing Tian will be joining the cast of the upcoming sequel.
Pacific is slated to begin filming this November for an August 4th, 2017 release. She’s joining an already great cast of John Boyega, Cailee Spaeny, Charlie Day, and Ron Pearlman. Now details on the film have been light but we do have word John Boyega will be playing the offspring of Stacker Pentacost played by Idris Elba. I was a huge fan of this film and thought it got a bad deal at theaters so that it’s come back so strong has me ready for more giant robots beating up giant monsters action. Keep it...

I think we can all agree they are pretty amazing regardless. While it was on shaky ground for a while there, a sequel to Guillermo de Toro's original robots vs. kaiju smash-up, Pacific Rim, is officiall on the books with a February 23, 2018 release date. Titled Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, the film will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight with John Boyega (Attack the Block and that Star Wars film) leading the charge. Both Charlie Hunnam and Ron Pearlman are unconfimed to be back, but I think it's a safe bet we'll at least see the...

Following Dolph Lundgren's campaign to play Cable in Tim Miller's Deadpool sequel, the ever-awesome Ron Pearlman has decided to get in on the action. The Hellboy actor posted the following images and captions to his Facebook page. "Even my fave artist got into the fray... #ShaineSchroeder" "Or hair. I'm the only one with Cable's friggin Hair!" The hair game is indeed on point, sir. Of course these days there are many actors actively campaigning to play characters they believe they'd be good fits for, but Pearlman is a fan-favorite actor that many have mentioned as their pick for the role of Cable in the past. Personally, I think he'd be a great choice, but what about you guys?...

The graphic novel Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom by Bruce Brown is being turned into an animated film. Deadline informed us that casting has begun, and the production has landed two big fish. Veteran actors Christopher Plummer and Ron Pearlman will be lending their talents to the movie. Here is what the report had to say about it:

The film, based on Bruce Brown’s popular graphic novel of the same name, is being done in conjunction with Shout! Factory.

What is it about foreign horror films that makes them more interesting than so many English language horror films? You would have to think that the language barrier makes it more terrifying; people screaming is already difficult, but speaking a language you don’t understand can only make it worse. So, why are the remakes typically so bad? On this portion of the list, we are treated to a few of the more upsetting films in the canon – one movie I wouldn’t wish for anyone to see, a few that blazed the trail for many more, and one that I would elevate above the horror genre into its own little super-genre.

With big budget Hollywood films like the recently released Paramount Pictures flick, The Gambler flopping amid stiff competition from Unbroken and Into The Woods, many have questioned its staying power in today’s movie landscape.
Cue, writer and director Greg Francis, who was acutely aware of this, but having the cunningness to market his film in a different way, he has garnered ‘Poker Night’ an altogether different audience.
As the movie may well have drawn in a crowd from the exasperated niche, the film doesn’t just rely on this audience for viewing figures alone. Although centered round a poker table, there’s very little poker play to contend with in this crime, horror thriller.

40. Empire Records
Directed by: Allan Moyle
Ah, the coming-of-age story. There was no sub-genre more hijacked for a quick buck in the 1990′s. In between the good ones (“Dazed and Confused,” “Boyz in the Hood”), the cheesy ones (“She’s All That,” “She Drives Me Crazy”), and the under-appreciated ones (“The Man in the Moon,” “Angus”), there were the middling ones that, if anything, boasted a cast that would go on to bigger, better things. Enter “Empire Records,” which is not only a coming-of-age story, but one that takes place at a record store, no less. Talk about the double dip. The entire film takes place over the course of one day, focusing on the employees, played by Anthony Lapaglia, Ethan Embry, Renee Zellweger, Rory Cochrane, and Liv Tyler. The independent record store is in Delaware – the hot spot of American music – and sees Joe (Lapaglia) allowing night manager Lucas...

Was Vic Mackey responsible for bringing Sons of Anarchy to an explosive end on Tuesday?
Not really, but The Shield star Michael Chiklis played a major role in killing off central character Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) in the final seconds of the motorcycle drama. Chiklis – who currently stars on FX's American Horror Story – was the one driving the tractor-trailer that Hunnam collided with at the end of the seventh-season finale.
This was Chiklis's second appearance on the series. He first showed up last week when his friendly character formed a quick connection with Gemma (Katey Sagal), even giving her a ride in his truck.

You know her best for her role as Beatress Johnson in American Mary, but Tristan Risk has been a very busy girl lately, and she's about to break big. She sat down with Dread Central to talk about her work, past and future.
Little Miss Risk is a compelling performer, a staunch horror fan and a charismatic interviewee. She talked about her beginnings, her affinity for her beloved character Beatress and the loads of work she's done since. Risk is as witty as she is alluring and we're sure you'll enjoy reading her interview as much as we enjoyed speaking with her.
We started at the very beginning and asked Risky how she got started in the acting business. "I've been a performer all my life," Risk said. "That's everything from doing stage shows, school plays, musicals, things at my grandpa's church. I didn't go to the church, but still performed in the recitals.

Without a doubt, Doug Jones is one of our favorite actors. The personable, prolific performer always has some interesting projects to talk about, and he recently sat down with Dread Central to discuss some current and future endeavors.
Jones began by describing an intriguing new movie series. Space Command: Redemption is the first installment in a proposed franchise.
"It's an original piece by writer/director Mark Zicree, who has such a pedigree in writing for film and television in the science fiction genre," Jones said, "a hugely decorated writer who has written for everything from "Star Trek: Incarnation" to "Babylon 5" and beyond. So there's elements of all that. It's got all the trappings of a science fiction show that takes place in space, but it also has a warm, heartfelt soul that's unlike anything I've read and I think that's what attracted me to it. And to be surrounded...

Horror is really the only genre that has entries that, while “good,” may not necessarily mean “recommended.” So, how does that affect what is “definitive?” A recent conversation brought up the nightmare of a movie A Serbian Film (great review here from Justine) which, by all accounts, is a horror film. But, while everyone in film circles knows about the film (many have even seen it), I can’t imagine anyone actually recommending it. It’s made impact, sure. But at what cost? The best horror films aren’t simply there to scare and disgust viewers. They’re there to serve as metaphors for other issues, however big or small. But the best ones are those that do it in a way that, while still may scare and disgust you, will also make you think and reevaluate your situation.

Ron Pearlman has been talking about wanting to return for a third "Hellboy" film for years. Unfortunately, director Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim) always has countless of projects in the works and is too busy to complete the trilogy. And now, del Toro confirmed what all "Hellboy" fans have been fearing, which is that "Hellboy 3" will never happen. The helmer went on to reveal what the third film would have been about. He explained: "We don't have that movie on the horizon, but the idea for it was to have Hellboy finally come to terms with the fact that his destiny, his inevitable destiny, is to become the beast of the Apocalypse, and having him and Liz face that part of his nature, and he has to do it, in order to be able to ironically vanquish the foe that he has to face in the 3rd film. Hello, and welcome to The Best Of Number Two here at The Liberal Dead. We haven’t done any kind of theme for a long time, so I thought I would reach out to some some talented people from other sites, and see if we can put something together. I decided it would be a theme about the best second films in a franchise/series. Expect discussion about Metamorhosis: The Alien Factor, The Devil’s Rejects, C.H.U.D. II, Blade II, Sleepaway Camp II, Amityville 2, Island of the Fishmen, The Dark Knight, Final Destination 2, House II and more.

Daniel Stamm’s 13 Sins, a remake of Thai film 13: Game of Death, is the disturbing tale of one man’s descent into crime and degradation. After receiving a mysterious phone call, debt-ridden Elliot Brindle (Marc Webber) is set on a path to riches, all he has to do is complete a bizarre series of tasks. As he desperately races through the increasingly disturbing tasks, earning larger and larger sums of money, the shady organization behind the “game” watch closely, egging him on.
From the outset the film is in good hands, great direction and a fairly solid script make for pleasing viewing. Throw in the fantastic Marc Webber as a slowly crumbling wimp,...

A new game has just come out for PC, Playstation, and Xbox called Bound by Flame! Is it any good? Should you bother buying it? Come in and find out!
Recently, I had the opportunity to check out the new game Bound by Flame, now on Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and PC. In Bound by Flame, you play as a Mercenary in a tumultuous medieval world. A world that is plagued by seven Ice Lords and their massive army of the dead. So far so good. In your first assignment with the mercenary group you are with, you are charged with protecting the sorcerers who are trying to perform a ritual that will turn the tide of the war. All is going as planned until the ritual goes terribly wrong and you are inhabited by a Demon. This Demon helps you gain an edge in the fight by giving you...

Bill O'Reilly wouldn't dance with Jamie Foxx, but he still left quite the impression with the Oscar-winning actor. While appearing on the “Tonight Show” on Friday, Foxx, who was in town to promote “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” was asked about a photo of himself dancing with Pharrell and General Colin Powell. The power trio, it turns out, were united by a charity event thrown by Revlon magnate Ron Pearlman. O'Reilly was also in attendance at the gala, which was held in the Hamptons, but was less enthusiastic about taking Foxx up on his offer of free, premium dance lessons. See video: Cameron Diaz.

I have been sitting here a long time trying to figure out the best way to open this review, and the conclusion I keep coming back to is that a long series of exclamation points and spirited interjections – something like Oh My God! !!!!!!!!!! Holy – !!! Wow!!!!! !!! How Did They – !!!!!! Oh My God !!!!!!!!!!! I Can’T Believe It !!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!! !!!! – is probably the purest and most honest summation of how I feel about Guillermo del Toro’s spectacular Pacific Rim.
Or, to convey those raw emotions in a slightly more coherent and cogent fashion, simply imagine me grinning like an idiot and giggling incessantly while I write this review. Because Pacific Rim made me smile like few other movies have ever made me smile, tapping into my inner child, long since buried under countless layers of pessimism and doubt, as purely as any film ever has. Any critic who dismisses Pacific Rim and...

A new trailer for Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" has arrived, with Charlie Hunnam grimly narrating the epic fight between the sea-emerging Kaiju monsters and the human-created Jaeger robots. "In order to fight monsters, we created monsters of our own," he says. Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Pearlman also star in the Warner Bros. tentpole, due in theaters July 12. Watch below. Del Toro did a recent interview with the La Times' Hero Complex blog, and also landed on IMDb's Top 10 Most Popular Cannes Competition Films list, with "Pan's Labyrinth" taking the seventh spot.

When it comes to movie trivia, the internet is seriously abundant with the stuff – most of it useless and interesting to very few people, save for the most dedicated of movie nerds and people who don’t have jobs.
But sometimes an instance of movie trivia will come along with the power to stop you in your tracks completely. Movie trivia so darn good, that you can’t go on with your day until you’ve sent an email to everyone you know or made a point of standing up at work and shouting it across the office (in these rare cases, your boss will not disapprove, and a raise might be on the cards).

Without a doubt Sons of Anarchy is one of the most intelligently written TV shows on the air today and has amassed itself quite the following since first appearing on the small screen back in 2008. In its five year run (so far) it has surpassed classic Fox shows such as The Shield, Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me outperforming them all by its third season.
Set in the small rural town of Charming, Sons of Anarchy tells the tale of the local motorcycle gang and is told from the point of view of the Teller-Morrow family as well as other members of Samcro (Sons of Anarchy Redwood Original Motorcycle Club) and its rival gangs. At every turn the gun running, drug muling bad ass bikers are undermined by the local law enforcement as well as meddling Federal agencies who are determined to bring the club down once and for all.

Ever since Hellboy 2 came out fans have been clamoring for a third film to complete the trilogy, but work on a third one never manifested. Ron Pearlman renewed the faith that it might get done though when he put on the Hellboy make up for a Make-a-Wish project. That gesture inspired director Guillermo del Toro to get on the horn and see if something can be done to get the project going. However, we might have just been dealt a crushing blow when del Torro told the folks at Latino Review the following, "Well, a couple of weeks ago or months ago, I did make a couple of phone calls to test, to gage the possibility of doing that because it’s a big movie. There’s no takers for a movie of that size. The two movies made their money back and a little bit. They were financially good,...

There are certain films that change our perception of the world around us and I hasten to say that Charles de Lauzirika’s Crave is one of those world. Just as Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver altered the public conciouness to the fact that the Vietnam War was still very real to many people and that there was the possibility to be a monster in all of us, Crave alerts us to our own desires and need for change that we are unable to act upon. That it seems all the more impossible to “be the change you want to see” when there are signs all over telling you to do so. Crave may be the best feature film debut since Rian _____ Brick.

Friday was a big day here at the Con, but today is going to be huge. New York is quickly growing into one of the largest Cons in the country, perhaps even number two behind San Diego.
The big event on Friday was the Legendary Comics panel moderated by the Nerdist himself Chris Hardwick. Hardwick is fantastic at on the spot hilarity; the best moderator I’ve seen. Legendary Comics Editor and Chief Bob Schreck introduced some of the new and upcoming titles from Legendary Comics including Matt Wagner’s Tower Chronicles and the Max Brooks helmed Shadow Walk. Then Hardwick introduced legendary comic writer Grant Morrison to announce Annihilator, a new series he is doing with Legendary. Annihilator is about a failing screenwriter who signs a deal with the devil. The tag line Morrison used was something on the line of “what happens when deadlines become life and death.

The comic world is buzzing this week after plans were revealed for a third instalment in the extremely popular Hellboy franchise.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly at this weekend’s San Diego Comic Con, the film’s visionary director Guillermo del Toro – who has frequently said his plans to complete his trilogy any time soon were probably folly given Universal’s erratic on/off relationship with the series – had the following to say:
We can say publicly that now we are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3] …We’re going to make an effort to do it. I hope it happens.

Red Sea Media is experiencing its first Cannes. Founded in November 2011 by Roman Kopelevich and Roman Viaris, the company is backed by Russian investors. Its initial slate of films is quite strong for such a new company. Aside from the two action films Anchor Bay just acquired for all English speaking territories, Officer Down (Stephen Dorff and James Woods) and Pawn (Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta and Nikki Reed), the slate includes A White Trash Christmas (Taryn Manning, Eric Roberts, Beverly D’Angelo), West Texas Lullaby (Val Kilmer), The Frozen (Brit Morgan), The Stoning Of Soraya M (Jim Caviezel) and Snowmen (Ray Liotta), and Frankie Go Boom (from Sundance). They get films from diverse sources, including from his attorney, Elsa Ramo who represents financiers and producers. He wants to establish a brand as a source of Russian films such as those by Serge Selyanov (Mongol) who is also a distributor in Russia (Nashe Kino). His main investor is Vadim Goryainov. The company was established when a friend of his mother (who is also in the business) approached him with 3 Moscow based companies.
While the company is new, Kopelevich himself has over 20 years of experience. Prior to Red Sea Media, he served as head of sales at Bleiberg Entertainment, where he sold the critically acclaimed films The Band’S Visit and Adam Resurrected (Jeff Goldblum). Previously, at Morgan Creek, Kopelevich sold the rights to The Good Shepherd (Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro) as well as Two For The Money (Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey). Prior to that, he worked at Media 8 Entertainment, where he handled foreign rights for Academy Award winner Monster (Charlize Theron); The Upside Of Anger (Kevin Costner); Havoc (Anne Hathaway); Man About Town (Ben Affleck) and Running Scared (Paul Walker). His first film job was in 1991 with New World under Brandon Tartikoff and Ben Silverman who is currently the founder and CEO of Electus, a next generation entertainment studio staked by Iac's Barry Diller. His stint with New World continued after Ron Pearlman sold the company to Fox News Corps for $2 billion which helped to establish Fox Network into what it became 2 years later.
The first time we met Roman Kopelevich was during the internet bubble days of 2000 when FilmFinders was the acquired by iFilm and was the darling of all the film internet sites because it was one of two film databases in existence, Roman was working with FilmBazaar.com which covered Cannes that year with its Orange signage. We have since found out that he was born in Lithuania in 1971 and immigrated to America when he was seven years old with his twin sister and his parents who were Russian Jews.
The other Roman who owns the company is, Roman Viaris, formerly with Comerica Bank, as well as Nu Image Entertainment and served as the CFO of Voltage Pictures.
