In the run up to the 2022 Winter Beijing Olympic Games beginning on Feb. 4, NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock will debut three original documentaries about Olympic athletes.
Lindsey Vonn, Tara Lipinski and Picabo Street are among the Olympic gold medalists involved in new docus titled “Meddling,” “Picabo” and “American Rock Stars.”
“We’re excited to give fans an in-depth look at stories of Olympics past that captivate us to this day and build excitement for the upcoming Winter Games,” says Rick Cordella, Peacock’s executive vice president and chief revenue officer.
The first new Peacock original docu, “Meddling,” will begin streaming on Jan. 6. The four-part docuseries directed by Todd Kapostasy explores the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic pairs figure skating scandal. With Olympic figure skating kicking off Thursday evening stateside, and the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony happening Friday morning in PyeongChang, People Now took a look back at some of the most memorable moments in Olympic figure skating history.
The video highlights everything from Tara Lipinski’s history-making 1998 victory at the Nagano Games — where she became the youngest female figure skater to win an individual medal — to the dramatic moment when 24-year-old French skater Surya Bonaly landed a stunning (and illegal) backflip during competition.

Xavier Dolan's I Killed My Mother edged out Denis Villeneuve's Polytechnique, claiming the top prize and collecting a total of five trophies, beating Villeneuve's film by one. Since Cannes last May, both films have been pitted against each other: while Villeneuve's film had the edge on the Quebecois box office front and received acclaim at Canada's Oscars (Genies), it was the debut film from Dolan that overwhelmed audiences on a global level, winning at several film festivals including three in Cannes - Xavier Dolan's I Killed My Mother edged out Denis Villeneuve's Polytechnique, claiming the top prize and collecting a total of five trophies, beating Villeneuve's film by one. "The View's" Elisabeth Hasselbeck latest career move has left her a little bruised with a pulled muscle "somewhere," she tells Zap2it.
The talk show host took a tumble (or four) on "The View" Friday (March 19) morning promoting her hosting gig on "Thin Ice", the all-new reality show premiering on ABC that night. "Thin Ice" judge Kristi Yamaguchi's quick-and-dirty skating lesson might have left Hasselbeck a bit bruised up, but that didn't put a damper on the talk show host's excitement over scoring this ice-bound opportunity.
"There's no way I couldn't be a part of this," Hasselbeck says.
Hasselbeck and four-time world champion Kurt Browning will co-host the two-day ABC show featuring 10 pro skaters paired as five couples competing for $220,000 in prize money. The scoring from the judges (including Yamaguchi, Katarina Witt and Dick Button) will count for 50 percent, while audience participation makes up the other half.
