Tearsucker: "The film tells the story of Lilly (Allison Walter), an emotionally vulnerable trauma survivor who is desperate to heal and get on with her life. Despite the support of her best friend Deb (Danielle Mcrae Spisso), Lilly is completely isolated. When she crosses paths with a charming stranger, Tom (Sam Brittan), at the park, she feels hope for the first time in months. Tom sweeps Lilly off her feet and invites her on a romantic weekend getaway. However, things take a disturbing turn when Lily discovers that Tom has an unusual appetite for tears… and will stop at nothing to get them.
Tearsucker is a stylish, twisted thriller that gives a true look at toxic relationships and the power dynamic that exists within them, as well as the red flags we often ignore."
Director: Stephen Vanderpool Actors: Allison Walter , Sam Brittan , Danielle McRae Spisso

A major, possibly key plot element in writer-director Greg Pritikin’s middling psychological/supernatural thriller, The Mistress, turns on whether a newly married, LA-based, 30-something couple, Parker (John Magaro) and Madeline (Chasten Harmon), can get a refund on their down payment and/or terminate their mortgage contract if the sellers didn’t fully disclose whether their new Victorian Era home was, in fact or tradition, “haunted.” It becomes a point of conflict, though not a reason or rationale for staying put long after things begin to go bump in the dark and the evidence begins to pile up that they’re not the only long-term inhabitants of their new home. The apparent “duty to disclose” (a haunting) also extends to the troubled relationship at the center of the generically named...

"I'm not very good with temptation..." Blue Fox Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Mistress, from filmmaker Greg Pritikin. This premiered at a couple of regional film festivals last year, and will be getting a VOD release at the end of July this summer. Newlyweds move into their dream home where they discover 100-year-old letters from a young woman who committed suicide after being abandoned by the owner. Parker struggles with ghostly disturbances, while Maddie suspects he's hiding something dark from his past. John Magaro co-stars with Chasten Harmon, plus Kat Cunning, Aylya Marzolf, Alexandra Grey, James Carpinello, and Rae Dawn Chong. This looks a bit generic, retreading familiar territory in so many other horror flicks. But at least is has Magaro getting super freaky. // Continue Reading ›...

Jessica Walter, an Emmy-winning actress known for her work as the stalker in Clint Eastwood’s “Play Misty for Me,” and for the TV series “Arrested Development” and “Archer,” died Wednesday in New York. She was 80.
Walter received an Emmy nomination in 2005 for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy for playing the manipulative alcoholic Lucille Bluth in the critically adored and highly influential comedy “Arrested Development.”
With the rest of the cast of “Arrested Development,” she shared three SAG Award nominations for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy, in 2005, 2006 and 2014.
20th Television said in a statement, “Jessica Walter’s spectacular turn as the devilish Lucille Bluth is one of the great comedic performances of television history, and we loved working with her as much as audiences loved her on ‘Arrested Development.’ Our hearts go out to her family and friends, particularly her daughter, and our former colleague, Brooke.

Exclusive: Fledgling U.S. production firm Rivulet Media has wrapped production today in LA on writer-director Greg Pritikin’s (The Last Laugh) feature The Mistress starring John Magaro (First Cow) and Chasten Harmon (Paterson).
The film was inspired by the history of Pritikin’s Angelino Heights home, and was shot almost entirely on the property.
The film follows newlyweds Parker (Magaro) and Madeline (Harmon) who move into their dream home – a 1892 Queen Ann Victorian in LA’s historic Angelino Heights neighborhood. Shortly after arriving they discover a collection of 100-year-old letters hidden in the walls – desperate and lovelorn correspondence from a young woman who committed suicide after being shunned and abandoned by the owner of the home – a married businessman with whom she was having an affair. While the tragedy of the mistress’s correspondence begins to manifest with disturbing spectral frequency, Maddie begins to suspect that Parker is hiding something dark from his past.

It took cojones for Chevy Chase — forever and always holiday-roading patriarch Clark Griswold — to star in a remake of F.W. Murnau's monumental 1924 silent The Last Laugh. Oh, wait. That's not what this is? An original story by writer-director Greg Pritikin, you say, about a retired talent manager, Al Hart (Chase), who hits the road with a former client, Buddy Green (Richard Dreyfuss), to rekindle their glory days? Ok, well, at least Murnau won't be rolling over in his grave with Emil Jannings.

If you’re a fan of Chevy Chase and/or Richard Dreyfuss, they star together in a new movie together called The Last Laugh, which is coming to Netflix.
I’ve always enjoyed the work of both of these actors and it’s great to see them starring in a new film together! The movie tells the story of a retired talent manager Al Hart (Chase), who is reunited with his first client, Buddy Green (Dreyfuss), a comic who quit show business 50 years ago. Well, Hart convinces Buddy to escape the retirement community that they’ve been living in to hit the road for a cross-country comedy comeback tour.
The movie looks like a charming comedy that I would enjoy. It also stars Chris Parnell, Kate Micucci, and Andie MacDowell.
The Last Laugh was written and directed by Greg Pritikin and Netflix will release it on January 11th, 2019.

"Do you even have an act?" "I never had an act." Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for an indie road trip comedy titled The Last Laugh, the latest from filmmaker Greg Pritikin. The comedy stars Chevy Chase as a retired talent manager who is reunited with his first client, Buddy Green played by Richard Dreyfuss, a comic who quit show business 50 years ago. This is another one of those amusing old geezers go on a road trip and re-discover how much fun the world is kind of films. The small supporting cast includes Chris Parnell, Kate Micucci, and Andie MacDowell. This looks like it has a few good laughs, but not as many as you might be expecting from this duo. Watch below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Greg Pritikin's The Last Laugh, direct from YouTube: When retired talent manager Al Hart (Chevy Chase) is reunited with his first client,...

Netflix’s The Last Laugh is laughing first with the initial trailer from its film starring Chevy Chase, Andie MacDowell and Richard Dreyfuss, which bows in January.
Emmy winner Chase, MacDowell, and Oscar winner Dreyfuss weave the tale of talent manager and widower Al Hart. After 50 years, he reunites with former client Buddy Green, who gave up a promising career as a stand-up comedian to settled down to raise a family. After Al convinces Buddy to perform on a bucket list tour of classic stand-up venues across the Us, Buddy gets one last taste of the life he could have had.
The Netflix original comedy is written and directed by Greg Pritikin (Dummy) and hails from producer Rob Paris of Paris Film, Inc. It also co-stars Lewis Black (Inside Out), Kate Micucci (The Lego Batman Movie) and Chris Parnell (Battle of the Sexes).

The anticipated ensemble comedy Movie 43 hits theatres next weekend, and with possibly the biggest and best assembled cast of all time, we didn’t think things could get much bigger or better. But this latest TV spot reveals something that makes it that much more of a must-see comedy: Seth MacFarlane.
We were treated to a great new TV spot yesterday, giving us sixty seconds of comedy goodness, and this new TV spot brings with it new footage aplenty, including a look at Seth MacFarlane, Common, Dennis Quaid, and Greg Kinnear, with the involvement of all four being until-now unannounced. Which begs the question, do we have more surprises in store for us when Movie 43 lands next week?

With probably the biggest and best ensemble cast ever assembled, we’ve got a lot to look forward to with the release of Movie 43 next weekend.

When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage...

With quite probably the best ensemble cast of all time, and a slew of brilliant filmmakers behind the camera, Movie 43 has a lot of potential to be one of the year’s best comedies next year.
With a list of cast, writers, and directors longer than I can ever remember, it’s safe to say this is almost definitely going to be brilliant, and following the release of the red-band trailer a few weeks back, the green-band trailer has now landed.
Naturally, the red-band trailer has the edge over the suitable-for-work version, but it’s still very much promising hilarity and all-round brilliance.
“Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
From the twisted minds of producers Peter Farrelly (Hall Pass, Shallow Hal) and Charles Wessler (There’s Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber), comes Movie 43– the outrageous new ensemble comedy starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

"I was a voiceover agent at Icm, and after 10 years in the agency world, which is like 100 years in another job, I wanted a career shift," says Larry Hummel. "It was time to graduate, and so many of my friends had become managers and producers. So, what am I doing here in the agency world and making money for other people as opposed to doing my own thing and the sky's the limit?" For the past four years, Hummel has been running his own L.A.-based management firm, Omniquest Media, and has never been happier. "As an agent, it's all about deal, deal, deal," he explains. "There's no time for clients. I had 300 voiceover clients. As a manager, I have approximately 20 clients. I can take an hour for lunch with my clients. I can strategize with them about their careers for the next 20 years. It's about the long term.

If you missed Season One of the incredible BBC America series "Being Human", then you missed out on some truly quality television. Not to worry though ... director Greg Pritikin has something on the horizon for us that sounds, well, strikingly similar.
The film, a horror comedy called Monster of the House, is in the process of casting for a December shoot, and it tells the tale of a teenage werewolf, an elder vampire, a crazy scientist, and a zombie who are living together in a house with a seemingly normal female roommate only to find out she's even more of a monster than they are.
It's impossible not to draw parallels between the two properties, but let's keep our fingers crossed that in the end they'll end up as good and different enough as can be.

Tell me if you've heard this one: A teenage werewolf, a vampire, a crazy scientist and a zombie coexist in a house. When they add a "seemingly normal" female roommate, they found out she's more of a monster than they are. That's the plot of a horror-comedy called Monster of the House directed by Greg Pritikin. Casting is now underway for a principal photography start which is to begin sometime in December. Pritikin directed a few episodes of Easy to Assemble , with Illeana Douglas, and the 2002 feature Dummy starring Milla Jovovich and Adrien Brody. Steven Pearl and Allan Loeb will produce.

Santa Barbara International Film Festival
Ventriloquists and their wooden colleagues have provided some truly creepy screen moments over the years -- from the Michael Redgrave sequence in the classic British thriller "Dead of Night" to a 1962 "Twilight Zone" episode featuring Cliff Robertson -- but seldom has that relationship been played for (intentional) laughs.
Enter "Dummy", a fresh, delightful, perfectly cast romantic comedy by promising writer-director Greg Pritikin that had Santa Barbara International Film Festival audiences giggling appreciatively. It went on to take home a special jury prize from the fest.
Given that the voice-thrower in question happens to be played by Adrien Brody, the Oscar-nominated star of "The Pianist", this crowd-tickler would look to be a no-brainer for the kind of distributor who -- knock on wood -- could maximize the picture's sleeper potential.
Brody's Steven Schoichet is exactly the kind of socially backward, pushing-30 guy who would be still living at home with his controlling parents, Lou and Fern (played by real-life couple Ron Leibman and Jessica Walter), and his unlucky-in-love wedding-planner sister, Heidi (Illeana Douglas).
One day, after deciding to pursue a dream nurtured by flickering black-and-white TV imagesof ventriloquist Paul Winchell and his wisecracking sidekick, Jerry Mahoney, he acquires a dummy from a magic shop and starts going about the business of not moving his lips.
While Steven's model-ship-making dad and sandwich-making mom seem too busy to notice, he gets support from his best friend, Fangora (Milla Jovovich like you've never seen her), a tough grrrl punk rocker whose band is going nowhere.
Ultimately, Steven's growing rapport with his still-nameless dummy brings him sufficiently out of his shell to charm his unemployment counselor (the beguiling Vera Farmiga) after a very bad start that led to a restraining order.
Meanwhile, as the result of another misunderstanding, Fangora finds herself having to take a crash course in the joys of Yiddish after Heidi hires her band to play at a traditional Jewish wedding.
With all the kooky elements in place, filmmaker Pritikin, who previously collaborated on a romantic sex comedy called "Totally Confused", allows things to unfold with a crisp wit and some gently placed parody that seldom makes fun at the expense of the amiable characters.
Although some of the picture's more dramatic passages aren't handled with the same amount of dexterity, Pritikin's cast is so good that it's tough to quibble.
It's no surprise that Brody, Douglas, Walter and Leibman make for one highly entertaining, if messed up, family unit, but the big revelation here is Jovovich, who finally gets a chance to really cut loose, showing some serious comedic chops as the raging-against-the-machine, ratty-haired, camouflage-wearing Fangora.
Also pitch-perfect is Farmiga as Brody's intrigued but understandably cautious love interest, while busy indie actor Jared Harris rounds out the ensemble as Douglas' mildly psychotic ex-boyfriend -- a former accountant-turned-amateur theater actor who's determined to win her back.
The spirited camaraderie also extends behind the scenes with some particularly colorful contributions by costume designer Marie Abma, while the assembled musicians make some major advances in the relatively unknown field of punk klezmer performance.
